YYYEEESSSSSS!!!!! My GH7 arrives in 2 days and I am JACKED for this to be working. It was my favourite lens on the GH5. Question though. Is there an AF mode that doesn't have human detect and just whatever is in the focus area?
I remember the 18-35 performing toe to toe with prime lenses in reviews back in 2013. I'm still using it today for work on the gh5. Glad to see it is still useful.
I had just bought this lens last year before my Japan trip and when you had released the last video I was so sad! I was like OMG I have so much hope for this sigma + gh7 (currently on gh5). Very happy to see that it at least works. It's definitely noticeable on how slow it is vs the native lenses but the fact that you just had to update your firmware is awesome. Thanks for the update! I don't think its necessary to do a comparison vs native lenses but it'd be nice to see.
haha perfect, i comented the AFS and AFC thing, because i made that mistake soooo many times with both my gh6, S5 and S5ii that i'll always quadruple check if i'm in AFC. haha
It works as it should honestly but I would recommend for you to try native MFT glass it’s not just for adapting the 18-35, Oly has some fantastic 1.2 pros, that would be interesting to watch, the 17, 25 and 45mm 1.2
@@etherity They work verywell. The 12-40 2.8 Pro and 40-150 2.8 Pro work as well as they do on the Olympus, better than the Panasonic 12-35 and 35-100.
The aperture makes it pretty solid with okay autofocus, is it worse than Contrast no, but is it as good as a native lens with PDAF no. But f1.3 with decent autofocus is pretty strong
Hi could you do this same test of autofocus where you show the camera menu but for the S5ii? I would love to see how does it compare The S5ii alone or with the gh7 by it's side if you can
i can see in AF Setting at 0 AF Speed & 0 AF Sensitivity, it's decent AF when di object walk far to close to the camera. i wonder if AF Speed put in +3 or +5. Can GH7 tracking better when you walk from far to close to the camera? is it more sticky AF?
I'm glad you loved the text! Here it is with the emojis incorporated: For smooth autofocus performance with the Sigma 18-35 lens on your G9 II and GH7, please make sure to update your Metabones Speedbooster ULTRA (0.71) to firmware version 4.10. I updated my Metabones Speedbooster ULTRA to firmware 4.10 last month (July 2024) and was pleasantly surprised to find that both my Sigma 18-35 and Sigma [EF] 24-70mm f2.8 lenses achieved smooth autofocus in video mode on my G9 II. I tested for G9 II only because I do not own Gh7. The eye and body autofocus tracking worked perfectly. One thing to note is that autofocus single (AF-S) mode works better than continuous autofocus (AF-C) mode in video.
Yes it doesn’t work. I emailed them recently if there’s gonna be an update for the af to work better with the new G9ii/gh7 bodies but they didn’t answer
1:43 The Face Detection AF us working so well it even identified a clock face. Incredible.
Hahahaha

Now we’re talking! I respect the follow up video.
Funny, being a Nikon lens guy, I never used the auto focus on my gh4 or gh5 with the speed booster and 18/35 as it wasn’t available.
Bro this makes me want to buy this lens again

I get confused by that but noticed the difference recently
Interestingly, Ken Slyder has done AF tests and finds eye detect in animal mode works better than human mode... on humans.
we are all just animals, right?
Yo, what!?! 😂😂
Yessssss! It works great! Would you prefer this vs. Focus Pro LiDar?
Thanks, what mount you use for Sigma?
This is very hopeful 😊
Dude, how do you keep your beard looking so dope ?

Do you know if the Oly lenses focus works with the Pany GH7?
@@etherityYes
It's because of the price. There is a huge price difference between the 18-35 and buying an Oly 17mm f1.2 + 25mm f1.2

That's a helpful test! May I repost the video onto Bilibili with original author info and add on a chinese subtitle? thx
does the vitriol mkii work well also?
Wait, did this guy have the camera set to AF-S previously?
Good test 👍
I do not need the 18-35 since I have the 10-25, but can you test the 50-100?
I really was expecting the results with the settings on AFC

Thanks for the test, can you test whether recording to ProResRAW 4K60 to cfe is 10bit or 12bit?
It is 12bit.
I have gh5 now, and i wanna update but i don't know which one, gh7 or s5iix? What do you think about this?
Can someone compile all the steps in the comments, please? I've never updated my Metabones adapter before.
B&H dropped the price of the GH7 to $1,999. Now I'll wait for a sale!
Aweman I just bought one but have to wait for their holiday
Has anyone tested the autofocus on the Viltrox x0.71?

@@klainmike822 uhh, so sad🥹
@@klainmike822 seems the higher metabones price pays off!
Why iso 500 instead 400?
As a filmaker I absolutely don't need autofocus. For photographers and vloggers,,yes
yesssssss
What about using a dumb adapter? Does that make a difference regarding auto focus?
a dumb adapter is just for manual focus only and does not produce auto focus
