“It’s hard to say what it is I see in you, wonder if I’ll always be with you.” Every time I hear Sister Hazel I think of Run Around and every time I hear Blues Traveler I think of All for you. Never fails.
But yeah fck this world and the way they intentionally give me the runaround. They literally played this song on the radio just to piss me off while they were doing it

Eric MLJ and BMi! You could screw those guys all the time and keep getting 12 for a penny every few months 😆. Yeah I got sooo many cds of them. Miss those days.
I was John's English teacher. But one day in class after the Christa Mc Auliffe disaster, he sat on my desk and sang a song he had composed in response to what happened to her. I knew then that John had great talent and was primarily focused on his music. He and others would hang around my classroom during lunch to make music.
So true! I believe it's impossible to capture on a recording what it was like to see them live. One of the best concerts I ever went to -- in some dive-y basement club in the Meatpacking District, Manhattan, around the early 1990s. I forget the name of the club. So special.
So amazing! They really showed what's possible with a harmonica. I had no idea that a harmonica could sound like that. When you really pay attention to the action in the music video, it's a funny parody of Wizard of Oz and commentary on how some performers are popular for looking a certain way, even if they aren't really that talented, while others somehow manage to finally get recognition for how talented they are even if they aren't pretty or handsome in a conventional way.
Yep! I would go see him in New Orleans, @ The House of Blues, along with Dave Mathews. Very cool. Back in the day, we would frequently bump into Dan Aykroyd. His club. His restaurant. Very nice guy. Goodtimes, great music, awesome New Orleans cuisine! Cant beat New Orleans! Agree, love this Harmonica. Super talent!
My dad once played the mountains win again after a trip west to Idaho and I got hooked on this album. All I can feel when listening to any of these songs is goofing off in my computer classes with my friends junior year. Time is fleeting, enjoy it while it lasts.
@@jonclevenger7669 There was an article written in the LA Times that said he was making fun of Adam and the singer was supposed to be him. But that was just the journalist's opinion. John has said Run-Around was sung with Counting Crows' Adam Duritz's style on the hit "Mr. Jones" in mind. "I felt like I was ripping him off on that one, but I don't think people really make that connection," he says. "At the same time, though, I'll hear Sister Hazel and say, 'God, that guy was thinking of me when he did that.'" The Times Article said: “The main theme of this video is to make fun of the Counting Crows, something which I applaud. Without actually flashing the name Counting Crows, it pokes fun at this one-hit wonder of a band right down to the bad Van Morrison impression, rhythmless dancing and bar haircut of the lead singer, Adam Duritz.”

"Run-Around" Oh, Once upon a midnight dreary I woke with something in my head I couldn't escape the memory Of a phone call and of what you said Like a game show contestant with a parting gift I could not believe my eyes When I saw through the voice of a trusted friend Who needs to humor me and tell me lies Yeah, humor me and tell me lies And I'll lie too and say I don't mind And as we seek so shall we find And when you're feeling open I'll still be here But not without a certain degree of fear Of what will be with you and me I still can see things hopefully But you Why you wanna give me a run-around Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up When all it does is slow me down And shake me and my confidence About a great many things But I've been there I can see it cower Like a nervous magician waiting in the wings Of a bad play where the heroes are right And nobody thinks or expects too much And Hollywood's calling for the movie rights Singing hey babe let's keep in touch Hey baby let's keep in touch But I want more than a touch I want you to reach me And show me all the things no one else can see So what you feel becomes mine as well And soon if we're lucky we'd be unable to tell What's yours and mine, the fishing's fine And it doesn't have to rhyme, so don't you feed me a line But you Why you wanna give me a run-around Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up When all it does is slow me down Tra la la la la bombardier this is the pilot speaking And I've got some news for you It seems my ship still stands no matter what you drop And there ain't a whole lot that you can do Oh sure the banner may be torn and the wind's gotten colder Perhaps I've grown a little cynical But I know no matter what the waitress brings I shall drink it and always be full Yeah, I will drink it and always be full Oh I like coffee, and I like tea I'd like to be able to enter a final plea I still got this dream that you just can't shake I love you to the point you can no longer take Well all right okay So be that way, I hope and pray That there's something left to say... For you, now Why you wanna give me a run-around Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up When all it does is slow me down Oh, yeah, now Why you wanna give me a run-around Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up When all it does is slow me down
Love the '90s. I use to come home about 4AM high as hell, and it seems this song was always playing on one of those video channels. Brings back memories.
Just had to come back again to this song. As because I was watching one of my favorite episodes of Roseanne and I seen when Blue's Traveler was one of their friends from school and happened to sing this song on there. But no matter what this is still an awesome song and he is one heck of a Harmonica artist. Very underrated band and person 🎶
The 90s was absolute magic and I’ll die on that hill. If you weren’t there, there’s no way to explain it. Tbh I should make a documentary about the 90s with all the quintessential 90s songs and this would def be the opening credits/montage song
As a guitar player, I can tell you his secret. He formulates his harmonica solos like guitar solos, then throws in a few things that a guitar can't do. It gives it a wider appeal. That is in no way saying that he isn't enormously talented for coming up with the song, solo and entire genre of music, it's just saying that his goal of being the ultimate outsider troll has been achieved.
I miss the 90s for sure...BT’s skill would not be appreciated today. It was okay to be different back then....music has become a cookie cutter industry for sure.
I wasn't born until '97 but assuming you meant that I would want to go back in time as the age I am now... no. Please no. Being gay was *very* stigmatized back then. Being trans wasn't even on most people's radar. So, I would probably be beaten to death.
Just saw this music video for the first time yesterday and I have to say, it's absolute genius. The idea of a "visually appealing" band being used by a promoter with the sound of a talented but not "typical" popular band hidden in the Wizard of Oz metaphor is a great way to comment on the trend popular music has followed for the last 30-40 years.
You beat me to everything I had to say about this video. I've heard this song many times over the last 29 years since it was released, but I am only just now discovering the music video in 2023. You summed up my thoughts exactly.
This song always makes me want to go play in the sunshine. I'm 56. It has snowed 18" in the last 24 and hasn't stopped yet. It's dark. . . . . . . .. Where's my mittens?

“It’s hard to say what it is I see in you, wonder if I’ll always be with you.” Every time I hear Sister Hazel I think of Run Around and every time I hear Blues Traveler I think of All for you. Never fails.
Glad it's not just me ^^;
But yeah fck this world and the way they intentionally give me the runaround. They literally played this song on the radio just to piss me off while they were doing it
They lit played this song on the radio (they listen in through my mic) while giving me the runaround. Just to anger me
Well they keep deleting my comments. All the more proof that I'm right and they're wrong. They need to get on my level
Columbia House 12 CDs for a penny brought me here. Thanks mom and dad's credit score!
Eric MLJ BMG was better.
I did both, BMG & CH

Eric MLJ oh man, that takes me back. So many CDs so few pennies!!
Eric MLJ and BMi! You could screw those guys all the time and keep getting 12 for a penny every few months 😆. Yeah I got sooo many cds of them. Miss those days.
This brings me right back to the 90's and waking up for school to Blues Traveler on mix 106.5. I'll never forget those days.

I’m STILL rocking to this great music at 70 yrs old! Grandmother to nine and Great Grandmother to one. Never let the music die!!
63 here great go grandma my mother is 96 grew up with her playing piano and loved boogie woogie.... Music for the heart and soul......
Hell yeah grandmas!
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen in my life. It is only after I got older that I realized and appreciated what was really going on .
Was obvious to me the first time I saw it. On MTV, that'll give you an idea I'm probably much older than you. MTV played all music videos.
Sing it!! BLUES TRAVELER !! STILL LISTENING IN 2019
Crazy to think this song came out over 20 years ago
yup 1995 top 10 pop hit
Yep, girl refused entry to the bar because she was born in 1974. She would have been 20 when this was released. She is 43 now...
hi
something like that
makes me feel old......great song and an excellent video
This song has the ability to immediately transport me back to a certain summer when it was a hit! Love it.
Same here .
I was John's English teacher. But one day in class after the Christa Mc Auliffe disaster, he sat on my desk and sang a song he had composed in response to what happened to her. I knew then that John had great talent and was primarily focused on his music. He and others would hang around my classroom during lunch to make music.
This is bad ass!!!
I wish you remembered the lyrics.
Thats pretty cool..glad you shared that story...these guys deserve more recognition.
Sure you were... 🙄
I hope he sees this!!!
this was on the radio constantly around 95-98 i guess ...good memories
I just saw these guys live in Joliet, IL and they are electrifying live. Great band 😀
I LOVE this album. It was so awesome to see/ hear them play in person, too....they were incredible. (God, I hope live music comes back soon.)
Listen to a bit of Sugar Blue while you're at it.
@@pulykamellOzzy Osborne used to play a mean Hermonica back in the early 70's. The Wizard.
@@762-m9b Oh cool! I'll check that out, thanks!
Not they, he.
I didn't realize both Arin and Dan were in this video
Right? Nobody talks about how the drummer looks like 2013 Arin 😂

My dad once played the mountains win again after a trip west to Idaho and I got hooked on this album. All I can feel when listening to any of these songs is goofing off in my computer classes with my friends junior year. Time is fleeting, enjoy it while it lasts.

Shots fired at counting crows
Still love the crows
I’ve always wondered
In counting crows' (specifically the singer) defense, what do you do when given THAT video setting
"At the same time, though, I'll hear Sister Hazel and say, 'God, that guy was thinking of me when he did that.'"
The Times Article said: “The main theme of this video is to make fun of the Counting Crows, something which I applaud. Without actually flashing the name Counting Crows, it pokes fun at this one-hit wonder of a band right down to the bad Van Morrison impression, rhythmless dancing and bar haircut of the lead singer, Adam Duritz.”
That's what I thought too.
Blues Traveler cannot be duplicated. Imitated maybe but never duplicated.
I can listen to this song every day and not get tired of it.

I agree. They were in my top 5 in Highschool. I loved some blues traveler. They don't make music with meanings like this anymore.

Same. I heard all their songs on the radio as a kid, and I just rediscovered them, too!
Trevor Fischer cool
+Nick “Rockfish00” Kennedy They are playing August 4th during a RibFest near my hometown. Ribs and Blues Traveler? I think I might have to go😁

Such a great song! I love how he plays the harmonica
Just saw them tonight in concert where I work and omg they rocked the house! Dude plays harmonica like no other ! One of the best shows I’ve ever seen !! They just kept jamming ! Much love 💯💯💯
I remember listening to this like 13 times in a row in the mid 90s. They just don't make lyrics like this anymore. A special time and special song. :)
📻 Try it again ... Date ya ... 😼
You should check out Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson... they are both on this level lyrically... maybe not in word volume but the way their music hits the soul is on another level
The harmonica playing is so amazing.
The best harmonica player ever

OMG absolutely Love the Blues Travelers. So very good!!!
This is audio cocaine. A pure masterpiece.
Going to see them live tomorrow night! Can’t wait! 😊
"Run-Around"
Oh,
Once upon a midnight dreary
I woke with something in my head
I couldn't escape the memory
Of a phone call and of what you said
Like a game show contestant with a parting gift
I could not believe my eyes
When I saw through the voice of a trusted friend
Who needs to humor me and tell me lies
Yeah, humor me and tell me lies
And I'll lie too and say I don't mind
And as we seek so shall we find
And when you're feeling open I'll still be here
But not without a certain degree of fear
Of what will be with you and me
I still can see things hopefully
But you
Why you wanna give me a run-around
Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up
When all it does is slow me down
And shake me and my confidence
About a great many things
But I've been there I can see it cower
Like a nervous magician waiting in the wings
Of a bad play where the heroes are right
And nobody thinks or expects too much
And Hollywood's calling for the movie rights
Singing hey babe let's keep in touch
Hey baby let's keep in touch
But I want more than a touch I want you to reach me
And show me all the things no one else can see
So what you feel becomes mine as well
And soon if we're lucky we'd be unable to tell
What's yours and mine, the fishing's fine
And it doesn't have to rhyme, so don't you feed me a line
But you
Why you wanna give me a run-around
Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up
When all it does is slow me down
Tra la la la la bombardier this is the pilot speaking
And I've got some news for you
It seems my ship still stands no matter what you drop
And there ain't a whole lot that you can do
Oh sure the banner may be torn and the wind's gotten colder
Perhaps I've grown a little cynical
But I know no matter what the waitress brings
I shall drink it and always be full
Yeah, I will drink it and always be full
Oh I like coffee, and I like tea
I'd like to be able to enter a final plea
I still got this dream that you just can't shake
I love you to the point you can no longer take
Well all right okay
So be that way, I hope and pray
That there's something left to say...
For you, now
Why you wanna give me a run-around
Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up
When all it does is slow me down
Oh, yeah, now
Why you wanna give me a run-around
Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up
When all it does is slow me down
Thank you for that! (:

Just had to come back again to this song. As because I was watching one of my favorite episodes of Roseanne and I seen when Blue's Traveler was one of their friends from school and happened to sing this song on there. But no matter what this is still an awesome song and he is one heck of a Harmonica artist. Very underrated band and person 🎶
You mean you saw?
Love this I'm lucky enough to be able to grow up in the 90's. I'm 44 now and this never gets old
You grew up in the 80s lol you were like 20 when this came out thats grown
I'm 57 and the 90's was the best decade for practically everything.
Essas músicas dos anos 90 foram eternizadas!
The 90s was absolute magic and I’ll die on that hill. If you weren’t there, there’s no way to explain it. Tbh I should make a documentary about the 90s with all the quintessential 90s songs and this would def be the opening credits/montage song
I’m 39 and I couldn’t agree more, we were lucky to grow up when we did the 90s molded us!❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
What a great song and the undertone of the song and imagery of this music video (Wizard of OZ) ties it all together nicely. Awesome!!
Still one of my all-time favorite music videos!

I get this song stuck in my head every time I find myself wondering if I want a cup of coffee or a cup of tea.
Also, quintessential 90s listening.
Watched them play this live the other night, they still sound the exact same. Did a cover of devil went down to Georgia too. Epic 🙌🏼
I saw them tonight as well. Still great! So glad I'm got to see them live
Just saw the same show tonight with them, Jewel, and Train. It was an awesome show all around.
this is one of those bands that sounds just like the record live. Even now!
kkkkk
Damn that guy's a master on the harmonica.
John Popper's voice is so authentic! My cousin used to sing this with all her little heart when we were kids!!
The 90s.....nothing like it. You'd be lying if you said you wouldn't drop everything and go back.
L M 63, yep I wouldn’t be born. Wouldn’t have to student loans
I miss the 90s for sure...BT’s skill would not be appreciated today. It was okay to be different back then....music has become a cookie cutter industry for sure.
Well I've never been only heard of the legends
GOD I'd go back....run my ASS OFF to get there!!!
I wondered if the "visually appealing" band were the Counting Crows? The jumping/dancing lead man sure looked like him.
This song just makes me want to get up and start dancing!
This song always makes me want to go play in the sunshine. I'm 56. It has snowed 18" in the last 24 and hasn't stopped yet. It's dark.
. . . .

Where's my mittens?
This song never fails to make me feel better
I love this song!! It brought me back to 1995!!❤️
My parents would play this song all the time and it’s embedded in my soul :)
