Awww I feel like this video was made just for me! 😘 The lower placement of the knot, to de-emphasize the bust- one of those genius things that never even occurred to me and it makes all the difference. Maybe there is hope for my little neck and I don't have to be cold in my V-neck cashmere sweaters 🥶. Thank you so much!!!
I really like the look of the striped scarf with the v neck sweater. I have a striped one, same size but different colours. I will try that with a v neck instead of a crew neck and tied to the side the way you did it. It looked very well put together. Simply but great style!
YAY!!! I am so left out of fashion, usually. I have a short wide neck and can not wear many looks that are on trend! THANK YOU!!!!
I love to wear scarves. I don't have a wide short neck but I think this is still a flattering way to wear a scarf for a long lean look.
I love wearing scarves... your hair looks especially beautiful today Marie-Anne
Hello Marie-Anne, I love scarves and they look wonderful on you. Great tips as always...Thank you.
Another one for me! In addition to these tips, I would add: fold a long rectangular scarf on the diagonal, so that the ends are more pointed. If the scarf has tassels, it’s even more effective. I wear bright striped scarves against plain jumpers or jackets and they really do emphasise the vertical line. 👌
Attention to detail and elegance for all body types! You are awesome.
I love scarfs.
Very informative Marie-Anne. The striped scarf is beautiful.❤
This hairstyle suits you so wonderful.
I really like the stipped scarf tied to the side. Thankyou Marie-Anne i will definitely do this. Cheers Beverley xx
A video made just for me! I always struggle to find winter scarves that aren't too thick or too long as I just don't have much neck to wrap them around!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I have a goiter neck because of my hyper thyroid -- perhaps this will cover it up.
LauraBristol I agree. I’m never too sure what to do with a thick scarf. It always seems like too much fabric.
Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to make this video. It is absolutely perfect for me and my short neck!!!! Definitely going to try these tips! 😍😘💖
@@MarieAnneLecoeur actually it has been very empowering to read the comments and discover how many other chic ladies have the same issue!!! ☺️👍💪
Thank you, love wearing scarves. Enjoy the videos.Merci!
Excellent tip. So simple and so effective.
I've always looked for a stylist who would do videos for this neck type. I'm so glad you did it Marie ann.thank you. Infact if you could do more styling videos for this neck type.
Simply chock full of helpful tips. I have the short wide neck, and have been wearing my scarves all wrong! Wear long scarves. No wrapping around the neck anymore, no big blobs of fabric around my neck. Oh my gosh, think vertical, wear lower neck or v neck tops. Bring the loose knot down lower to avoid widening the bust area. I am taking notes to carry with me while shopping. Thank you!!
Just found this today - thank you I have a short neck but love scarves..... now I can wear scarves happily thank you so much
I’ve inherently worn scarves this way because I have neckphobia, but thank you for the elegant instruction!
I will be using the tips in this video even though I don't have a wide neck.
I learnt something new today. Merci !
Thank you! Such great advice.
Great tips. I will use these. I love wearing scarves!
Merci, Marie-Anne!😘
Thank you for the great tips can't wait to try it out.
This video was so helpful and explains why I have never been drawn to wearing square scarves around my short neck. I will give your vertically length options a try.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Will make a note of it. (-:
Another great tutorial Marie-Anne. This is a simple one but has great impact. Bravo😊
Ty for this great tips!! 😍
Thank you for sharing these tips!
Great! I short necked, needed this. Thanks Marie Anne.
Love the tip with the square scarf, I have few but never knew how to wear them as it made me look stouter. Thanks Marie Ann!
Very helpful!! Thank you so much for these advices.
Love this! Very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Merci Marie-Anne!! This is perfect, I appreciate all the great tips, this is very helpful!!🤗🎄
Thank you, this is perfect for me! I've always avoided scarfs & turtlenecks, & I'm now excited to go to the department store to try scarfs on. I especially love that striped scarf & how you tied it.
Excellent tips. I have a short wide neck and a larger bust. I love wearing scarves and I find I do have to pay attention to how I wear them. It's true that nothing high or tight around my neck looks good. I found this out by trial and error. It took me awhile to realize I can not wear turtlenecks. Wish I had had this video years ago. Thank you for your clear explanations.
You have mastered the English , much better then many Americans.
Great tips.
Very helpful. Thank you.
It's always a joy watching your channel. There is always something new I learn that I can immediately try and apply. Thank you so much!
Dear elegant lady, thanks for sharing
I love the idea of a style journal!!💖💗❤💕💓
This video might have been made long ago, I wish I had found it before. I love scarves, but I'm a little intimidated because of my short neck. Thank you so much I didn't realize that the lines and black mixes that I like is because of what you say. It makes sense, you gave me more enthusiasm to get more and wear them. Good Idea about taking the pictures to see. Merci beaucoup !
Great. Video as ever.
*WOW* !!!! *LOVE all of these tips Marie-Anne* !!!!! *I do appreciate all of the Slimming Ideas* !!!! * anticipate soon buying more scarves* !!!! #FrenchChicStyle #MarieAnneLeCoeur
Thank you! So helpful for wider necked women! Of which I am now one, though once much thinner and swan like...😞 will begin shopping/ looking for scarves to lengthen. So many of mine are now the eternity style. But think they could be cut and hemmed to be more flattering! Will experiment. And perhaps invest christmas gift money...😊
I had one of those eternity scarves cut and hemmed. I liked it, but it is too thick and fluffy (ruched, textured fabric) to be flattering ad a loop. Other than that, depending on the length, there are flattering ways for us to wear those, too. 😊
I came across this video after you mentioned you had a video on wearing turtlenecks with a short, wide neck, like I have. This isn't the video exactly, but I learned so much from this one! I have two very long rectangular jacquard scarves, one in red and one in shades of blue and green. I love these scarves, the red as an accent when I'm wearing all black or black and white and the blue with other complimentary colors to bring out the blue in my eyes. These scarves are too heavy to loosely knot (but they make great shawls on cool evenings!) but they look fabulous just folded to be narrow and loosely around my neck and over my big bust, creating a vertical element to make me a little taller and slimmer. See, I'm learning so much from you!
Thank you so much. I have a short neck and I really appreciated this advice.
Thank you! I must make some time to experiment. 😊 We already have snow here, and it's cold... scarf weather for the next five or six months!
Thank you for this video. I remember asking a while back about having a short neck.
Big fan of yours from America. We plan to visit Paris next year for our anniversary and of course bring a few stylish items home with us. Can you recommend a shopping district which is good quality but affordable ? Some specific stores for clothing ? I hope to receive a reply from you and a video would be Divine ❤️
Thank you, a practical video as no one has ever mentioned a scarf for a short neck which I have.🤔👏
Alors ça c'est un lot de conseils que je cherchais depuis tellement longtemps! Merci Marie-Anne!
Thank you. I subscribed!
Very good tips! Thank you 👍🏻 You look really good in black.
Very practical tips. Thank you for sharing.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Absolutely. I went to my favorite scarves and tweaked them as suggested, and found them to be exactly as you described...elongating. I am not thick necked, but I am a petite woman and can use all the help that I can get. lol
it's really helpful, than u so much for making this video MUA
I love this topic. We don’t all have perfect proportions and these are great tips. Hope you will make a video on how to dress for ppl with a big tummy. My tummy just sticks out after having two big babies.
Brilliant! Thanks!
Very useful.. Thq
Very helpful video Marie Ann,thank you very much. You have a beautiful neck.Be blessed.
I like the grey sweater best with this scarf
Thanks
Good to know I'm doing it right!
Thanks.
Thank you for your advice. I now will wear scarves in a smart way with my body/neck size. I was wondering how my scarves look over my chest and then you mentioned how to wear scarves smartly with a large chest as well. You think of everything.
You are very welcome Danna x
What is the best material for scarves ? Great advice btw. merci
I love wearing scarves although my problem is not a short and wide neck but a short and narrow one. I try many different ways but my own best critic is my husband. It was he who told me that my polo neck jumper didn’t suit me so bought me a crew neck one.
One very artistic and brave man. 😀
@@MarieAnneLecoeur ...My husband is also an excellent cook as well.
Bonjour Marie Anne my fav subject something i wear with just about outfit i may wear and off course a nice colourful scarve tied around my handbag adds that flair to your outfit thanks again Donna xx
Your new haircut is the BOMB on you!
Hello Marie-Anne. Great video. Do you have any tips for keeping scarves in place when you have loosely tied them. Mine always seem to slip.
Thanks, Marie-anne! My neck looks long & narrow when my hair is cut shorter at the nape of the neck or is pulled up. But right now it's a bit longer in the back ... not really long, but longer than a neckline. I noticed last week when trying out a new square scarf that my neck looked wider & shorter! I was shocked since I often wear scarves. Then I realized I usually wear longer scarves ... and of course in a different way. In fact, among my friends I'm known for wearing long scarves. I was trying to tie a Rose. The rose looked pretty good, but the ties of the scarf made my neck look too wide! So thanks for showing how to fold & tie a square scarf so it lenghtens the neck rather than the opposite! I wonder about pulling the Rose through, and then rolling or twisting the scarf ties/ends, before tying. Do you think that might keep them thin enough to work? I so appreciate your sharing your expertise! 👍😀 ❤ 💞💞
Hey Marie-Anne, good morning and cannot believe it is the last day of November, where did the month go to???? You know one of my favorite subjects is scarves, thank you sooo much and enjoy your Weekend paula x
Hi, Marie-Ann!
I believe I fall into this category. Your video was helpful and is now locked into my mind. I am going to keep an eye out for a black and white scarf like the one you finished with; it's beautiful. I already have the black V neck tops. Merci!
JoAnne from Victoria, B.C.
P.S. In this city I would say that we are not known for being chic, it is just too West Coast casual. It's never too late to make a switch and I am grateful that you care enough to teach us what you know.
Great video! like LauraBristol, I feel like this video is made for me! I have a short neck! I use long scarves, and I don't tie them tightly around my neck , I wear them lose. I also tie my square scarves the way you demonstrated with the square stripe scarf in the video. Thank you, thank you!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur and with this video, I feel re-assured. :-)
I love this video because I am such a fan of silk scarves, but I have a wide face and short neck so I shied away from them for a long time.
Also, I love the black and white scarf you were showing at the end, can I ask where you got that one?
How do you tie a very long scarf as a coverup like a skirt? Merci.
I will have to see if I can do a video Ms B x
I wear scarves all the time.Got dozens of them.Fortunately,I do not have a short ,wide neck.x
Bonjour. Oui, I did enjoy this video. It was not helpful for me because I do not have a stumpy neck. However, the lengthening effect was a great tip. Also, the colour and pattern was a helpful tip. I've been wearing scarves my whole like. I have different shapes, patterns and colours for different occasions and seasons. I've built up a huge collection and still shopping for more, ha ha
Bonjour Marie-Anne! I love to wear a beret this time of year. Do you have any videos on how to properly wear berets? XOXO
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Thank you!!! XOXO
Hello MA, Hope you are staying well. What about for those of us getting older and starting to see wrinkles and folds in our necks? Our necks appear shorter and wider, but would we be better off with scarves closer to the neck ( not too tight) to hide that or should we still go with the lengthening effect? Thank you.
Could you please tell me the title of the video which deals with scarves slipping - this is mentioned in one of your replies below. Thank you!
Two reasons why I do not wear to much scarves, one; my neck is not very long even if I am size 6, second; I feel the sensation too warm my neck , the weather does not help in my country it is now 11°- 27° in almost winter, I have some very nice but does not wear them too much. This video will help me a lot it was made just for me. 😁😊thanks a lot Marie-Anne!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Appreciate your reply, you are so kind, I´m on the way to get the wonderful lipstick you are using,💄💄 love it. greetings from México have a nice weekend!
Great tips, thank you. My trouble is that if i tie a scarf to the side, it works until I move and then it falls back central. Also if I double loop with loose loops, it always ends up tightening up around my neck (exactly what I don't need). Any tips on stopping these things happen or should I just stick with the one front knot?...
Marie-Anne you’re an exceptional beautiful woman, but in this video you look extra beautiful. I love the shorter haircut on you. You always look thinner. Thank you for the this video, it’s definitely scarf 🧣 season here in New Jersey.
When I tie my scarf with the small knot at the side of my neck, the knot always 'falls' and makes its way to the centre of my neck. Any tips to stop that happening?
Btw, how do you keep the scarf you placed a little sideways, from slipping back down to center? I love that tilted look, but wonder if/how it would stay that way.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur a video about that? I should have known. 😄👍💟
Bonjour! One of my blocks about scarves is the fact that I have long hair. I never know how to work with it. Pony tail? A bun? Let it down... I just give up =(
But I made it a goal for this winter to wear my scarves!
how to use twilly scarf ? just in the handbags or we can wear it on the neck ?
@@MarieAnneLecoeur merci beaucoup !
thank you , what about ladies trying to hide lines in neck that look like 2 long strings LOL that come with aging how can we wear scarfs
😍
Thanks. No small scarves for me then
Bonjour Marie Anne great tip I feel this also works for us petite gals to have that vertical effect to elongate the body visually, have a blessed weekend
It also saves the neck from wrinkles
bonjour beautiful Marie-Anne ....
these tips also work for long-neck but big busted gals ...
We might want to be careful of where to place the knot. As I learned from Nancy Nix-Rice, the knot draws the eye. She says that if you wish to visually gain a larger bustline, place the knot where it is at its fullest. Instant va-va-voom. 😉 If you feel you have plenty of oh-la-là going on already, or if that's not where you want attention, you may choose to place the knot above the bust. 😊
Talking about the neck, I used to wear V neck T-shirts and sweaters for 20 years thinking the V neck would make my torso look smaller. It worked to a certain level but it made my neck look way longer.
Thanks to you I began wearing round neck and it made a big difference!
Marie-Anne, perfume lovers like me would love a video about perfumes. How to wear them, techniques to spray them, etcétera.
You know perfume is the final touch to a perfect outfit and what Coco said about it and what could be more French than a video about perfume?😻
A bientot!
Hello/Bonjour Marie-Anne! I’ve been on holiday and I’ve probably got a few of your videos to catch up on. Thank you for this one. I sometimes struggle with scarves, whereas some people make them look effortless. I find the finer the scarves the more I can get them to work for me. I saw your Hermes scarf video and your advice in another video about choosing quality scarves. I remember someone saying when giving fashion advice, “the French may only have one scarf but you can bet it is the best quality”. True I think.
Marie-Anne Lecoeur No Marie-Anne, not you! She is Australian and is a life coach. She was talking about minimising our wardrobes. She admired the approach of French women and their emphasis on quality over quantity and how smart they always looked. She had lived in Paris for a period of time.
Marie-Anne Lecoeur I think you have more than one beautiful quality scarf Marie-Anne! I’ve seen some beautiful ones you wear.
