    Sorry ,but I think You're talking rubbish ! The 675 died along with the CBR600rr because the latest euro emissions were a unattainable in its 675cc form . That also started a slight decline in 600cc class sales until both Kawasaki and Yamaha upped their game in the 600 market . .
    I realise that the state of motorcycle racing in the USA is in steep decline but in Europe it is still great as can be witnessed by the BSB races in Uk for one . Their "superbike" class is probably the best National series in the world and even the "Supersport" is flourishing again albeit full of Kawasaki and Yamaha 600 machines due to the inability of the CBR and the 675 to fulfil noise and exhaust emissions without being dumbed down to what most "sport" riders find acceptable today.By "sport" I mean ROAD riders not pproper racers
    To talk about the "middleweight" class and compare with machines of 1000 cc and upwards is ridiculous unless one is frightened to spend their money on the still relatively light middleweights with their superb handling as opposed to unmanageable "superbikes"
    with traction ,anti wheelie ,cornering ABS and dumbing down engine modes so the average Hooray Henry can still be "king of the road" .
    The 675 just managed to squeeze itself into the Supersport race class because it gave the British manufacturer a chance to relive its old history of sports bikes but unfortunately legislation has killed the 675 so the Company do what others before have and upped the capacity so they can still have a reasonable performance but use some of the extra power to operate on different fuel and noise curves to satisfy the legislators .
    In Uk ,currently there is one club running a 765 series with only 10 riders at most in two classes disappointingly.However ,always looking to the US market (if Mr. Trump allows a flat playing field)Triumph are doing very well with the over 50s market .

    Triumph discontinued 675 because they started working on moto2 765 engine and had plans to release new 765 Daytona and its official new 765 Daytona is coming in near future, it will be basically moto2 bike on the streets (triumph started collecting 1000£ deposits for this new Daytona) i think this was a good marketing management done by triumph because they made people hungry for Daytona also increased this engine's popularity by providing moto2 with engines :)

    This video is dumb and bad and could be researched in five minutes. The Daytona died because of Euro 4. They couldn't make it complaint, so they started to develop the 765 powerplant. It came out, but they were still working on the Moto2 variant so it's been pushed to 2020

    • @zareff
      @zareff 5 років тому +2

      I'm tired of clickbait videos like this. We begged Triumph to make a bigger cc daytona since all the other manufacturers (cough Yamaha cough) started copying the powerplant. Triumph listened and produced it for the 2017 street triple, their product managers said that IF there is enough demand they will produce it for the Daytona! It was mentioned in 2017 and we all knew we'll have to wait for the euro 5 regulations to be settled before they release it.
      Stupid video with misleading information. I did have an 11 675r and the price was fine for what it was. It was still cheaper than a 848 which is a closer comparison than the cookie cutter 600s. It was one of the few bikes in the "middleweight" class with top notch components that was not an exotic or a Ducati. The reason it didn't sell so well is because the triumph dealer network in the states is nowhere near as big as the jap bikes and nor is the production volume.

      @Real_MisterSir 5 років тому +4

      @@law7116 Oh so that's what you think makes a bike "better in every way" - that you could pull harder at the rev limit? Well duh, that's the point of an inline 4 to make all its power up high, and the added displacement of the 636 obviously gives it the advantage.
      Take the bikes to the track or any other technical route, and the 675 will leave the Kawi in the dust - and it has more usable power for everyday riding when you are not pushing its engine limits all the time.
      Herro RR for once was talking a bit too much out of his ass with this one. A better argument against the bike would be, that it's price tag coupled with it being less common, simply means it won't be regarded by everyone as a logical buy. Many people buy what they are used to see, because that's what they trust and what they grow up liking. The Kawasaki is just that. It's relatively well priced, and it's a bike everyone and their grandma knows and is used to talk about because it's literally everywhere, just like the other Japanese supersports. They are just the go-to bikes in this class because they are normal and recognizable.

      I think the biggest reason is most likely the EU and their regulations. The 675 engine would not pass the regulations without an almost complete overhaul and the 600cc class is indeed dying. Since they announced their Moto2 engine, however, fans have been begging for a 765 version and it's being tested and probably (hopefully) will be presented later this year. I've ridden Street Triple 675, my beloved Daytona 675 '11, sadly crashed my first '06 one as someone cut me off, a Speed Triple and the 765 Street Triple S and RS. The 765 RS engine as is would already be a great Daytona engine, but that wouldn't be the usual way Triumph handles their bikes. I guess, it will be somewhere in the 130's, as the Moto2 engine has 140HP.

    I had a 675 then a 675r - i have a stealth datalogger and it’s still the fastest bike round many tracks I ride round. Like a fool, I bought a Fireblade and went slower 🙈 I swapped that for a Sp Fireblade as I thought it was the Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes making the difference but no - then I got a SP1 Fireblade still slower 🙈 it is mainly because I’m not a very good rider and the 675r has all the power you need with near perfect handling and not too much power that you are always being cautious with the throttle so you can wring it’s neck without overly worrying about the power it makes (for reference I lap Catalunya in 2.05 and Aragon in 2.23). If they make a 765r I’ll be in the queue to get one.

      I was looking for this comment, in what way is a zx6r better? Only scratch more power higher in the revs, less torque.. significantly heavier.. mediocre suspension, cheese for brakes.. and no stock quick shifter. How the fuck is it better in EVERY way exactly?
      As for comparing it's price to 1000cc bikes.. if you think power alone makes a good bike or a bad bike.. then fuck.. I have nothing for that logic.
      What killed the Daytona is that sportsbike riders in general ride bikes because they want to go fast.. like really fast.. in straight lines specifically, and to that extent.. power is the only concern, the middleweight sports bike is considered a beginner bike or a girl's bike to most groups of people who ride these bikes and therefore it costs too much considering what it is to them. Without any consideration as to what you're actually paying for..

Before I left my dealership at the end of 2017, Triumph's strategy moving forward is mostly in the Bonneville and Tiger range and all their variants. We would move Street Triples too but on the whole the Daytona and Speed Triples were very slow sellers. Also a 765 Daytona is not a given as Triumph has been lukewarm at best at the idea of bringing another thoroughbred in to their lineup.

    Uhm no, they killed the bike because restrictions in the 600 class meant that nobody invested r&d into these bikes anymore. That's why they are working on the 765 replacement instead because it opens up a world of new possibilities for them to develop a fresh base with new tech and an engine that can be pushed farther than the 675 ever could, as it was already at its limit just like every other 600cc class bike (with modern emissions restrictions and reliability in mind). It doesn't have anything to do with its sales in itself or a lack of interest in the middleweight supersport class. People didn't just stop liking supersports out of the blue. A 600cc is the next best level..For them to learn on a 300 then jumping on a 1,000cc liter bike is too much of a jump. Slipper clutch has always been standard on D675. And no there are no bikes that actually were made in 2017, the D675 did stop producing in late 2015/early 2016. All bikes that you buy new since are left over bikes. And the super high msrp pricing on the D675 was an indication that it was actually a left over bike. A base d675 was actually pretty cheap compared to other supersport 600. And honestly the engine was not that good anyway, it was boring and bland like an electric motor, but the super sharp handling and nimbleness of the chassis is what made the D675 a fantastic bike. It was actually the best handling bike in the bike world even to this day.

    What I don't get is why Triumph didn't just do what the Japanese makers did and just keep making and exporting them to the U.S. since the Daytona's R&D has already paid for itself so the relatively few sales would all be relative profits. I understand why they didn't want to make new models due to not selling enough to justify the new R&D costs to meet Euro 5. They could drop the unit price and just let the factory pump low quantities and just ship them to the U.S.
    You're also not going to see the other makers fully drop the 600 class as they really only produce and sell them to keep themselves in the official races which require the same model of competing bikes to be sold to the public. The races are how they try and directly measure themselves against the other manufacturers and how they can in the end, try to build up reputation for sales when they do well. The full sponsorship of even several race teams is still far cheaper than some of the most basic advertising packages. a round of 30 second commercials can get to the tens of millions of dollars depending on the time slot. It's one of the reasons why they can still pump out bikes and make a profit. The motorcycle industry doesn't spend nearly as much as the rest of the automotive industry on advertising and exposure outside of racing which the automotive industry does as well.

    But that model of S1000RR and that model of R1 were ugly. admittedly so was the latest Daytona 675 but given the choice of the 3.
