  • Hey bass players! In this video I'm taking an in-depth look at one of the very best bass compressor pedals on the market. The Origin Effects Cali76 compact bass compressor is based on the 1176 studio compressors from the late 60's. With controls like dry blend and a high-pass filter, it's loaded with features that make it super functional bass compressor. Enjoy!

This is the best explanation of this pedal I’ve seen on UA-cam! Thank you!

thanks for the vid, got one of these showing up tomorrow. Used quite a few bass compressors over the years and like how naturally bright this one seems to be

Not so shure about HPF. Usually it is so that HPF controls the circuit that determines how much compressor reacts to low notes. Meaning that low notes have higher energy and would cause compressor to work harder, which is often not so desirable, thus HPF control pot gives option to reduce influence of higher energy of lower notes to the triggering reaction of the compressor. Meaning, less deep bass notes in the controlling circuit, less compressor acts when low notes hit the controlling circuit.
