Thank you for yet another top notch video! I don't know if the updates are enough to make me sell either of my Cali76 pedals (Compact Bass and Stacked Edition) but the metering is nice and the ability to run one of my mic pre's directly to it without going through some sort of line level to instrument level converter is a plus for recording. I'd love to hear a side by side comparison to see if it's really that different, but all in all another win for Origin effects who's making just fantastic gear for bassists.

Great review! I just ordered one to A/B against my V1. Another benefit of the voltage change is that folks powering this with a Noble will no longer need the 18-volt adapter cable to power it. I'd also love to hear a comparison between V2 and the original TXL version. Cheers!
The big box Cali is really hard to find and they’re super expensive in the used market, but maybe @ianmartinallison can help with that?

Superb demonstration as always Ivan!! This new Cali76 sounds great! I had the old version and found it to be a bit noisy/hissy. Is this one quieter (I’m obsessive about noise)?

Hi, I love compressors in general, I love the UA 1176 studio pedal and cali 76 compact the best , I would love to try this one to compare them, but I already know that i'll certainly keep the three ;)

@@IvanBassist In that case do you think it is a missed chance Origin didn't put a stacked knob for attack and release? I wondered if losing the HPF would be a big issue, but I feel it is. A comparison between the two new compressors would be more interesting then between the old and new bassversion.
Please do a comparison video. Lots of people are deciding to get the new one or buy a used old one.

If I wanted a transparent compressor with a more natural sound, would I be better off with this or the empress bass compressor, or is this as colored as the previous version.
I’ve never used the empress, but it might be more transparent than the Cali since it is not based on an 1176 comp.
However, it’s worth mentioning that the new version does sound more transparent than the Compact Bass one and has slightly more low end.

Not bad, but , soundwise, nowhere better than the Lusithand's Alma comp nor the Diamond bass compressor.
Different style of compression, though. Optical vs FET
Hyper Luminal I believe is still better thank Cali
Both are good. Slightly different flavor in terms of functionality, though :)
@@IvanBassist There is a small noise in the background, is this pedal more noizy than Hyper Luminal, you know ? or is fine in terms of noise ?
I forgot to add a noise remover to my SM7b microphone. That one requires LOTS of gain. The pedal is pretty quiet
