- This is a Bug i have been experiencing on the Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5, funny enough it actually happened during the recording of the fix!

I’ve faced the same issue. Tested all given solutions online, and finally figured it out that whenever i unplugged keyboard backlight, the system will boot normally. Tried a few more times, and then plugged back the backlight. Works for me. The socket is a small 4 pin right next to the giant battery socket.

This helped me. Thanks brother. Just to add, I had to fully charge my laptop and then unplug the power cable and continued with your steps for it to work. For some reason, when power cable is still connected, the fn + f2 + power did nothing.

I just recently found you tonight after my screen went on the battery safe mode. Not only did you help me out but another person who showed me how to enter Bios through to indirect methods and one direct method to the Uemi setup.... that's literally solved the problem I've been having. Thank you so much, this really made my day after the crap I've been going on lately with technology.

You are so good. I searched more than 1 hour on Google and even got to lenovo page. All the suggestions didn't help me to turn on my laptop. Your video did - spot on for deep sleep with fn+f2. That us just 2 mins into the video before changing the setting. 🎉

OMG! 😱 I thought that I had this problem because I didn’t know where the on/ off power button was (right side) and I would just press any key to turn it on and sometimes it didn’t work. Thanks to you I realized where it was. Didn’t know what you meant by the pale button 😀

Then put in the charger and again 30 second press power button..and then wait for around 2-3 minutes....it works..once again. Thanks

What is crazy is i got this computer yesterday and it still have this same bug the video is 2 years old. Did what you said and it resuscitate my bran new computer that i was crying thinking i had to send back . Genious

The backlight bleed for me was worse around the webcam but with an image on the screen it's fine
Hinges seem ok, but time will tell and depending on how often you use it folded over

Can you help me? My flex 5 is stuck on black screen. The caps doesn't seem to work but the lights on function +ESC works when i press it. So meaning the keyboard is working? This happened after i restarted my laptop then it showed installing driver updated then beeped continually nd stucked. I pressed power and now its black
i suspect it may have been doing a Bios update, my wifes did that the other day.. i warned her not to touch it and it completed it..
i thinking that beeping might have been meaning it was doing an update, i dont have many suggestions sorry

Sadly, Lenovo still have this bug till today on my Flex 5i 12th Gen Intel.. The only solution, when Reset Button and Fn key doesn’t work is by Draining the battery. Charge your Mobile Phone with small short USB C cable until stopped charging. Then, put the Laptop Charger and voilaaaa. Your laptop is alive 😅… Cheap Laptop is Cheap Quality of Design or Designer. Its Lenovo 😊

Now I using lenovo flex 5 intel core i5(type c charging) . When I charging the battery it have sound zzzz from adapter. ( It mostly get louder when battery full (charge direct to notebook)

exactly the same thing happened with my Flex 5 Ryzen 5 4500u. After hibernation I click the power button but screen is black and the fans run at 100%. It appears this issue affects all units, not a few. I'm glad there's such a simple workaround for this
While it has seemed to help, past the screen coming on for a few seconds and the little startup chime, it still won't actually come on. Is thare anything else I can do?

My laptop seems to not open up and let me log in after the backlight turns on, is there a way to get into the bios without logging in?
In lenovo for me problem was cables between monitor and laptop and lack of thermal paste. So black screen was caused by the STRONGER GPU not working on LEGACY mode. After changing to UEFI and turning OFF any "procesor boost" like sharing cores that gave like 2-5 frames at cost of 15 C degrees in machine, I changed the PASTE then I change back frome UEFI to LEGACY, cause if not I got "driver error code 43" and stronger GPU was acting like broken. I have a feeling it's all part of scam, so people got 2 years warranty and it's max for thermal paste. After that even when they change paste they could think that GPU is still broken cause of overheat and they need to buy new or change laptop. Second thing that cable for monitor was strange too cause screen did not appear in UEFI till few resets, every in differen position of screen. And in one position it starts. This problem dissapeared after new thermal paste and changing back to legacy. Still the COOLING in LEGIONS is awful and after a NICE DAY OF GAMING if You don't live in Alaska, it starts to shut down with error. I use some cooling unit and place it behind so the cooled air is doing the job for now. If I run just on cooling instaled in Lenovo Legion y740 with RTX2080maxq it would just overcook insides of machine well done :).

I put mine to sleep last week and went out. When I came back home some hours later it refused to start. Not charging, not starting, no lights, no fans whatsoever. Completely bricked. Not sure what caused that.

I have the same type laptop as you have, but i have the ideapad flex 5i with intel gen 12th core i5, windows 11. When I started to press fn+f2 then press the power button on the side, it doesn't make the screen laptop turns on to the lockscreen as you were, but suddenly appear the novo button menu that have options to: normal startup, BIOS setup, Boot menu, System Recovery, and UEFI Diagnostics. I chose the bios because of what you mention before that you wanted to check the bios, then I chose the configuration -> OneKeyBattery -> Disabled -> Save and Exit (F10). After that, it restarts the laptop but didn't fix the problem, the screen still turned off as it was

Try Holding the Power Button for 30 seconds
Plug in Power, wait 30 seconds
Then Press and Hold power for 5 seconds

We had this same problem. I did not know your fix yet but I finally got it to boot and immediately went to the Lenovo site and downloaded a BIOS update they had for this machine. Do you have any idea if the new bios update -the latest one - fixes the problem?

So my laptop turned out like this, but for some reason whenever I hold the power button it just keeps turning on and off continuously. The keyboard lights and fan turn on and then after a couple seconds it turns off and then it turns again as I’m holding the power button. I don’t know what else to do
Also the Fn+F2 doesn’t work, no battery icon comes on

Didn't work - is it possible I have a fairly identical problem with a different cause? How could I fix that? I have an Ideapad Flex 15iml, the power button is on, capslock responds fine. When I restart i get the Lenovo loading page then the screen goes dark again. Fans whirring but no display and no response to anything I do.
try connecting to a screen via HDMI and see if you can get a picture

The first part worked, but for the second part when I clicked restart it restarted immediately instead of giving me an option to troubleshoot since I’m on windows 11 I guess. What do to to permanently fix it if on windows 11? I look up troubleshoot on settings but it doesn’t have advanced settings
