Fun match here guys, with goofy crap along the way as usual! Thanks for the match Chris! Always a good time! Come check out this APA 8-ball pool league match!
#8ball #billiards #8ballpool #pool
Keep up what you are doing!
Wowww!! Rob thank you so much!!!! This is so kind!!
I’ll start working on the next one NOW!! 🫡🫡🫡
I do think you have good vision and strategy, certainly better than I do. Your production is my favorite on the internet in terms of APA gameplay and the way you put in shape triangles and trajectory lines. Now when I play I look for the triangles, so thank you. Keep up the good work.
I really appreciate that Steve! Thank you!!
Great to see you back DVP!
@2:45 When there is a close ball, I like to lift my head up and back down at least a couple of times, to properly gauge the correct amount of cut I need. Jeremy Jones has commented on this a number of times, and SVB shoots close cuts with his eye sight higher than usual. When you are low on a close cut, your eyes plays tricks on you.
@6:00 A couple of months ago, I have seen SVB practice "almost straight" punch shots that he bounces off the rail after contact. Since then, I have started practicing that shot as well. I have learned that (while using the same english) more speed will cause the cue ball to "draw" more off the rail. I don't know what english you applied here, (center or slightly below center is what is looked like?) but at that speed, (and it seems illogical) center or slightly above center will bring your cue straight up off the rail. I would love to know what you experience if you practice this shot.
From @9:40 - @11:50 Decisions are ok, but things just didn't execute for you. I've been there. you hit the 7 a hair too hard, mis-gauged the cut on the close 6 (my previous comment), and either under-cut or under-hit the safe (Although, I may have played the thin cut into the GC).
But great shot @12:45, however... 100% corner pocket @13:00
@17:20 I would play a 2 way with the emphasis on drawing the cue to the right rail then to the top rail behind the 6 (or at least on that top rail to make things very difficult). The luxury would be if the 4 had enough legs to bank to the top right corner.
@17:55 should have hit the 9 slower (or with low/drag & inside to kill the cue), so he could play the 10 and break out the 11. He would have had a good shot on the 14/15 next.
@28:20 Only 1 practice stroke? 1 or 2 more, and maybe you make this shot?
@30:55 I feel like your speed control has been off a lot during this match.
Right after I say that Great Shot!!! @ 33:55
@47:15 Gauge the cut correctly by looking at multiple eye levels, but not scratching was main concern.
@50:05 Great shot!. Congrats on the win.
Look forward to the next one😃
These are great points and I always appreciate your feedback!!
The 6:00 shot with the 3 ball… i was jacked up, and going frame-by-frame, I noticed the cue ball actually jumped pretty high on it’s way to the 3. Probably should’ve just leveled the cue out a little more and not “worry” about draw/stun…
You make great points and even when I win, you find all the right things I need to work on. Thanks man!
Remind me where you are from Ryu???
I'm from North Jersey. I play APA at Rockaway Billiards.
Thanks for the videos, Drew!
Welcome back, I've missed your videos. I watch a lot of amateur pool videos and yours are among the best.
I enjoy the candor of your commentary, such a good attitude about our own failures doesn't come easily. Nice 8 ball at the end there
I really enjoy your editing and commentary, nice to see you back.
Where you been!!? Finally new content! I’ve watched everything multiple times now! Lol can’t wait for more! You’re my favorite for amateur play videos with commentary. I’ve watched others but like yours are the best! Keep it up!
Great match and it's good to see that you're still alive and well!! Definitely have missed seeing you post here, you have fantastic production quality...win or lose it's always good to see the videos you put out 👍🏻💪🏻 I like to consider you as the Bob Dylan of amateur pool videos: I always enjoy the performance but the overall product is what shines and where it's really at 😎 That was meant to be a compliment by the way lol
That first rack 12 ball you stopped and replayed. I'm not so sure if it was the stroke being fast as it was it being a bit jabby. Seemed like the lack of follow thru kept that right spin from taking and throwing that ball towards the pocket. But overall I think your game is looking pretty good 👊🏻
Thanks a lot man!! Very kind words, I appreciate them 🤩
I still make stupid mistakes 🤦🏻♂️ have better days than others, but I DO feel my overall game has gotten a lot tighter… so I appreciate you noticing something 💪🏼. More to come for sure, glad to have you here!
Drewwwww! Was thinking about you the other day, wondering where you were. Good to have you back!
The ref!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 thanks man!!
Good to see you back again, sir. Always enjoy your commentary.
Always love all the work you put into these videos. I know it's not easy and take an f load of time. You should do merchandise of some kind to help with the channel. Keep up the great work
I probably should do something like that, that would make my time put into it feel better… though I do really appreciate comments like this Chris 💪🏼 thank you!!
Great content and glad you are back in the video saddle!
Glad to see you uploading again! I’m pretty new to your channel but I’ve already watched all the matches lol.
Don’t have time to watch this right now but looking forward to catching it later!
Great match Drew, happy to have you back!
Glad you're back
i have subscribed because i like how you analys the play as we go. Also your thoughts and words that make it interesting. And i am intermediate player, so i can relate a lot to your style.
Keep up the good work. Being subscribed means i will get the video when ever you have time. Don't burn out do your thing and when the next comes out we are good to go. Thank you from Canada
That’s awesome! Thank you man! Appreciate the kind words 👊🏼
Whoa dude i thought you were in some gutter in Vegas 😅
I was. Anthony came and yanked me out n dusted me off 🫠
Glad to have you back. I as well missed your videos
Aw shucksssss thanks!
Congrats. Glad to see you posting again.
Bird is the word 😎
@@drewvonporte Aren't you too young to know that reference? :D
Great to have you back, my friend! Glad to hear you took a bit of a well-earned break given how much work you put into these. Funny you should mention Mika, he was playing in my pool hall this Friday while my league game was on. I finally won a match and feel like after months of playing badly I’m finally playing a bit better. Must be my new cue 😂 Maybe I can start to record games now🤔
Lolll that’s cool you see someone like that at your pool hall. He was my idol for years!!
Don’t be shy JB! Doesn’t matter how well/bad you play, the commenters roast you the same 😂😂
Lest I remind you, the first reason I started doing this was to assess my own game/stroke. It helps a lot in the process to see video of yourself, I assure you 💪🏼
@@drewvonporte ok my next match will be recorded and uploaded
last time I heard from you was before vegas lol, welcome back
Glad to see you are back man!
9:15 DVP: Can't really mess this up. Narrator: He messes this up.
💯…… 🫠
My grandmother that passed at 102yo had a favorite saying - Ain’t heard hide nor hair from you in forever. Glad to have you back.
Thanks George!! Your gram sounds like she had style 😎
I really enjoy your content!
Awesome thanks Shane!
Welcome back!!
Ayyy Danny Boy!
@@drewvonporte the pipes the pipes are calling. Long time no hear!!
Keep em coming.
These are nice to see. I can't shoot as well but i can follow the patterns. Its actually nice to see misses
“It’s nice to see misses” you say?!
Boy are you in for a treat! I miss all the time!!! 🤣🤣 Thanks Brett!! Appreciate the kind words 🤙🏼
You do a great job. Thanks.
Hey thanks Dick!! 👊🏼👊🏼
Good shot for the win!
A blind nut finds a broken clock…. Or however that saying goes….. 🤪
48:52 you bank/kick it 12 out of 10...lol ok You owe me a drink cause I had a incident when I heard that remembering the previous cue ball scratch.
🤣🤣🤣 deal!!
He's back!!!
put a nice long pause in the backstroke. and mentally put a spot on the table for shape.
Many teach a "pause" at end of backstroke !! works real well for me
I go back and forth on pausing…. But it ALWAYS helps me! Maybe I need to reintroduce it 🤔
2:30 Masters can be draining. For me, there are a lot of distractions during our Masters night. It is hard for me to focus on the game.
Yeah we do 2 matches same day for Master’s. 1 Sunday a month though. I feel like most of us enjoy Master’s and something we all look forward to.
It is 100% my favorite format for league play. Long race, both 8 and 9, and can push and jump.
Until I start Ultimate Pool anyway…. 😏
3rd rack 4ball you prefer to try off 9 Vs butter cut in side ?
Guess it dep on the player but I love the soft touch side shots but they are hard to get next position on
I can’t find the shot you’re referencing, at least not in the 3rd rack idk 🤷🏻♂️
There WAS a shot in the side I tried taking off his ball, mainly so I could hit it with speed to get to the other side of the table, but I missed it cuz I suck! 🫠
I think your videos are terrific. But you mentioned the "swerve" shot? But I don't think I've seen you hit a "swerve shot" in one of your SL-7 vs SL-7 videos. How many times per rack would you estimate you use a swerve shot? I ask because in an SL-5 vs SL-5 video that you provided you recommended it for your guy. But if you never use it? That's not consistent. Thanks for the vids and the great commentary!
You’re probably right! But if I’m only hooked by 1/4 of a ball, and have enough room, I definitely use it. Guess it’s just dumb luck it hasn’t shown up on matches I film!
He practiced it after that and got more comfortable with it, I will admit ….
Thank you for that feedback!!! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
@@drewvonporte Perfect! That makes sense. I am presently working on my masse shots. I like your approach by the way. It's very low key and lighthearted while still emphasizing the importance of "working the problem" and continuing to think. All very helpful to me. Thanks!
Thats so awesome to hear Bobby 🤙🏼 cheers!
Missed your content.
Question..At 29:48 the one ball moved and wasn’t ball in hand after he moved it with his hand..am I missing something? Only thing I can think of is the ball moved on its own by the looks of it but does look like his stick grazed it causing it to move ? I’m just curious and want to know
Just cue ball fouls, not “all ball fouls”. So bumping any ball besides the cue ball, you just put it back. It’s ultimately up to the opponent to decide where the ball was before you bumped it.
It allows us heathens to get drunk at league LOL jk
13:40 I shoot that 8 to the corner almost every time.
Same 😭🤦🏻♂️….. so again i say….. “WHY?!?!”
@ because we are amateurs and are inconsistent. 😢
I don’t know what happened but the whole video at least until I changed it was small screen in the corner. Pretty impossible to watch and enjoy. I’ll check out the next one but good to see you back.
Idk why? It plays fine for me on all platforms 🤷🏻♂️
What cards are you talking about they sound interesting
Check out the video I put out about them!! I have 2 of them 👊🏼👊🏼
i use side pockets more than most... i would have taken that eight in the side 100% of the time.
I do too, and have been pretty slick with these sharp cuts in the side….. i still think the corner’s a bigger pocket, esp for an 8-ball 😣
@@drewvonporte true true... i tend to go to the closest pocket though.. helps to prevent uncontrollable table roll-off/etc. keep up the good content!
Not familiar with apa ranks. Is 7 fairly low skill level?
The lowest, honestly
Where are you located? would love to challenge you!
Im gonna need the 7 out!
Phoenix AZ 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@ dang thats far away. If you are ever up in the New England area let me know!
@ I certainly will put it out there! Hope you enjoy the content 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Do you or your opponent have a Fargo?
Mine is provisional at 607 (48 robust). I think that’s too high, unless I’m ALWAYS shooting well (which we usually don’t). I’d guess I’m 550’s idk.
Not sure of his 🤷🏻♂️
That 8 ball shot is pretty easy. Don't know how he missed. I mastered those shots.
Me neither 😅
Another great posting. Look forward to them and now for the critique.... don't degrade it with profanity that adds nothing
I’ll try and be better 💪🏼
You're "fast backstroke" had nothing to do with the miss in the corner pocket. It was your aim that was at fault there. And, in fact, your backstroke was perfectly fine.
I agree, at the split second I watched it live commentating (without repeat slow-mo) I think I •thought• I saw a quick back stroke.
Nope, just my usual trash 😀 haha
B.F.S @ 46:30
Sure was!!
13:00 I would pot that 8 in corner.
I wanna say I would too 😅…….
whats up Drew, been awhile since you last posted. How did you do at Vegas? Always good to take a break and recharge your energy and enthusiasm.
Vegas was a blast! Maybe I’ll share some fun stories in the next vid. Being a team with a total fargo of about 1250, we did great 😎
Rack 4 when he followed the 5 in with scratch. Why hit that with top vs drawing it back for the 2.
I’m only a 5 n playing pool for about year. Apa just 8 weeks but I guess each person is more comfortable with certain shots.
I guess it’s what you’re comfortable with 🤷🏻♂️ he wanted to hit it hard and get it to veer off the line because he was dead straight but it unfortunately didn’t work…
Those instances, I’ve learned to often just lay it up and take a long Next shot… stopped trying to create highlight reels 😅
What’s up drew , I’m visiting sac if you’re down to get some practice or games in hit me up . I have no life when I’m done with training haha I’m in sac til December
Sac??… I’m in Phoenix 😅 how much weight do I get??
@@drewvonportedamn this whole time I thought you’re in sac , I should get the weight im only a very very amateur 480 ahaha
Not first
😒
