- Offering Multiple Launch Rocket System firepower on a wheeled chassis, the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System is the newest member of the MLRS launcher family. HIMARS carries a single six-pack of GMLRS rockets or one TACMS missile on the Army's Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) 5-ton truck, and can launch the entire MLRS family of munitions. It was successfully combat-tested in Operation Iraqi Freedom. HIMARS is C-130 transportable and can be deployed into areas previously inaccessible to heavier launchers. It also incorporates the self-loading, autonomous features that have made MLRS the premier rocket artillery system in the world. The HIMARS fire control system, electronics and communications units are interchangeable with the existing MLRS M270A1 launcher, and the crew and training are the same.

@@fatdad64able y, dramatically reduced shelling from the russian side. They use them to destroy ammunition storages mainly for artillery and command centers. You can check the heat maps, don't take my word for that. Russian command is very weak at adapting new strategies, Kiev front was decimated bcs of manpads, and long supply lines on the roads, they switched to scorch earth tactics by using artillery, and now it's getting countered as well.

@Сергей Макеев Its all about results. So far we have not seen any definitive proofs that Tornado-S is used in Ukraine, since precision of Russian artillery is lacking badly. If they had Tornado-S deployed they would not need to waste precious "Kinjals". On the other hand delivery of HIMARS to Ukraine immediately turned the tide of this war which say a lot about its superiority over anything that Russia has to offer.

Excellent combat modern equipment, which significantly influenced the course of the war in Ukraine. Unfortunately, there are no deliveries of long-range missiles for the HIMARS MLRS in Ukraine yet. The absence of such missiles with a range of 300-500 km complicates and delays the complete defeat of the Russian army. Thanks to all the people in different countries of the world who help Ukraine with high-tech weapons. This saves the lives of our soldiers on the battlefield and civilians in cities and villages.
Probably Pentagon does not want some enraged UA commanders to shoot missiles to Moscow directly.
The biggest problem is we stopped production of the ATACMS long range missiles, but have not started production of the replacement for it, the PrSM long range missiles. And we have relatively few ATACMS in storage, which worries the army as they always want to have a stockpile of all ammunition ready for emergencies, though I believe we should give them all to Ukraine anyway, its unlikely the US will need them any time soon

Odd that they're firing an AIM-120 from it. IIRC they're not offering that capability on HIMARS.
sferrin2 They did several tests with firing air defense missiles out of HIMARS. I think eventually, they decided to use the (MML) Multi Mission Launcher for short range air defense instead since it can hold 15 missiles.

1. Все знали что в Еленовке лагерь с военнопленными, причем давно.
2. Обломков ракеты найдено не было. То что есть фото, где они сложены в кучку где-то вообще не рядом с местом взрыва ничего не доказывает. Украина била и раньше хаймарсами и не раз. Проблем привезти обломки нет абсолютно.
3. Еленовка находится в 10 км от линии фронта, что уже нарушает Женевскую Конвенцию о содержании военнопленных. Они должны беречься в тылу. Зачем бить дорогими хаймарсами такую цель если с ней может справится и обычная артиллерия? Это уже бред. Хаймарсы бьют на 80, 120 и даже 300 км. Тратить их на 10км цель не разумно.
4. Учитывая, что доказательств удара хаймарсами у рос. стороны нет. Также учитывая то насколько большие от них проблемы у России. Можно легко предположить, что Россия сама же и убила пленных. Чтобы затормозить поставку оружия в Украину, опять таки целей там много. И я не вижу смысла о них говорить с идиотом.

The truck seems to nearly be tipping over when lauching. Whst would happen if the terrain was sloped in the wrong direction?
It may look like tipping but it's not close to doing so, the top is lighter than the bottom chassis

I am certainly not alone in my esteem toward the HIMARS. May I please suggest that HIMARS batteries deploy in company with High-Power Microwave systems capable of countering 'drone-swarms'?
HIMARS operates 25-40km behind the frontline.
If drones (small battery drones have 3-5km range and 10km at MAX, medium-large drones (Orlan, MQ9, Bayraktar) are very vulnerable to AD, thus if deployed meaning AD got destroyed or suppressed) got that far something has gone horribly, *horribly* wrong.
I hope Indonesia can buy this weapons
