That last race was a really good fight, you're a stubborn git to try and overtake! 🤣
Why don't you drift now like you did to eerie at the finish line?? because you re a bad dirty driver
Good driving mate, it was a fun clean battle to watch
@@barilocheyo I adjusted the tyre pressures since the race with Rory, the car drives much better now 👌
@@GOTMAXPOWER Don't forget to put some tape on the front and a pound of wedge in the back -- whatever the hell that means
@@JBBost I watch enough NASCAR to know roughly what tape is 🤣
There truly is some mischief afoot with this corner, I must have done 200 laps of this track today and STILL can’t take it consistently
While I really like your races and you're a pretty damn good driver, I also like to see when you mess up. You showing us your struggles helps us relate. Your crashes and whatnot also help to educate you as well as the rest of us on how NOT to take certain areas. Just some food for thought. All in all, fun races as usual!
13:02 that was a exciting lap!!!
SLÆP!
I love you videos, but why don’t you do competitive racing?
As someone who hadn’t gotten into GT7 / sim racing until a bit later, I always appreciate your content since I think it really catalyzed my enjoyment for both. Hope you’re doing well and wishing you a fantastic day Super GT :)
Good to hear it mate, thank you for the message. Have a great day.
That battle with GOTMAXPOWER was amazing. Very well done to the both of you.
I prefer the old layout. There was a rhythm to deep forest that I liked and that hairpin kills it (especially in reverse).
Agreed. The old layout in reverse had what I called nascar right. Now it’s awkward slow hairpin
Yeah the old corner out of the tunnel was the best corner on the track
@@Sillybstrd_027 yes. The new Deep Forest in GT7 is 0/10 imo.
@@samkwant4050 it’s PD they alway F something up, still we have grand valley they can’t ruin that circuit
Tbh that hairpin is easy to take on gr.3 cars
I think that hairpin is so hard because it's downhill and off camber. It's only semi manageable in the reverse version.
👌
Exactly, the angular momentum of being downhill takes grip away from the front tires.
@@NathanIrizarry1 shouldn't downhill load the front tires more though?
@@emzed33no up hill loads the front
"Downhill ascent"
I see Steve's English turned right on a straight and met Barry R.
Lmfao thank you for the laugh
I hate the hairpin. It's the ultimate Tilke design. "Extend the straight and put a hairpin. That'll force overtakes."
Deep Forest has always been my favorite track in GT games, because it's just fun to drive and I always loved the final curve. Throwing your car full throttle into the banked left-hander always felt so good.
I think the hairpin works better in the reverse layout, and prefer a tight line in and out - very much a traditional 'V' line
Loved that battle.. the constant pressure!
Pretty sure we all have at least one corner that we can never seem to get right. For me it's every corner on the circuit of Catalunya!
Wow, I stumbled upon your race videos by chance and I have to say, you've got me hooked! Your skill and passion for cars really shine through in your content. You're making me more interested in cars than I ever thought possible. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see more!
The movement of the Porsche makes me thing he was using a controller so fair play to him for keeping it clean
If I recall correctly, he does use a controller.
I am on controller, I can't make the racing line work around that hairpin so have to take that weird one with the really wide entry, not sure if that is a me issue or the controller 🤷♂
@@GOTMAXPOWERBut that cutback line you did kinda worked out tho.
@@KikuraKun It's the quickest way round the corner I've found but only if you've got clear road on the entry, if the other car is far to the left you can't carry the same speed in.
I find that corner (and this track) challenging and very mysterious, sometimes I'm fast other times I can't take any turn correctly. Struggled a lot with consistency on this track, which I thought was apparent seeing everyone else online struggling lol. I agree with others it's nice to hear someone of your caliber struggling as well/might be helpful for us to see some more of those "mistakes" in videos. Thanks for a great vid Steve hope all is well :)
Literally just got a cheap rig setup this week and getting back into gran turismo - it was nice to see this track and commentary since I’ve been battling that corner all week haha.
Love your content brother and hope to see you guys online!
Hey I really loved this video!! I love all the b-roll and different angles. And the longer races help me get into the storylines. more like this plz!!
ily
I started watching your videos and through these videos I managed to go through the threshold of the intimidating Sport mode. I started 2 months ago and I gotta say I have been having so much fun with online races, gladly, I've been going up the ranks! I come back everytime to see your videos since you're a very good driver... Also, recently I saw your karting videos and now I'm eager to try that aswell. Thank you Super GT, keep up the good content.
I thought the worst turn was the downhill chicane on Laguna Seca, but when you pointed this one out, it brought back nightmares of trying to do the license tests. You're right... I'm not sure what it is about that turn, but it just feels weird. Maybe because it looks wider than it is, so most people tend to try to keep a more shallow turn to keep speed. It also looks like it dips and changes your grip a little in the middle of the turn.
Are you talking about the corkscrew
Corkscrew is a very epic corner and not bad at all
corkscrew is awesome fun when you know exactly when to brake up that blind hill, can gain so much time on people.
The corkscrew is epic, but to each on their own.
Ahh yes, the corkscrew. When I first got into Gran Turismo, it was the bane of my existence. Especially since I insisted on driving a Viper.
Thank you for this, great race, commentary, everything 🤘🏽🎮
You mentioned the physics of the corner, something definitely broken in the middle of the corner in the reverse layout. Somehow there is seemingly no grip at all in the middle of the corner and it's really easy to lose the back end. Really feels like there's a patch of ice there. Thought it was me, but I drove this race a couple of times yesterday and saw others struggle in exactly the same way.
Other than that I really like the reverse layout, the whole middle section is awesome. The hairpin and the high speed section before it is a real treat too
I don't play gt that much but it looks like the camber drops off drastically about a car length off the apex which is probably why he understeers if he goes wide and oversteers when he gets it in that groove. Just have to be conscious in your prediction of what line you are taking and adjust yourself accordingly beforehand.
The porsche completely flies out of that turn i love it.
Supergt thank u, your videos are the perfect thing to watch after work while eating so perfect and entertaining
This version of Deep Forest is the Gran Turismo track equivalent to the live action remakes of Disney ^^
Your own recognition of luck shows how much of a genuine master you are. Subscribed.
3:34 That ghost looks familiar...
Your honesty regarding your struggles is much appreciated! Love your content, thank you!!
As far as I remember it used to bottom out the cars running super low at full lock until they put minimum ride heights up a bit
What a GREAT battle at the end mate! Congrats on that second place after those long 4 laps with tyre disadvantage
This corner is sooooo damn tough
Firstly, awesome battle - it was like a chess game, well done!
Secondly, I never played the original layout of this circuit, but I think this corner and the track in general is okay. I think the main problem with the hairpin (I struggle with it as well) is the fact that in order to hit the apex you need to go a little downhill, as a result the rear becomes too light which results in oversteer. I guess we could be able to mitigate this to some extend if we were still able to use break balance...
An oddball turn to be sure, but maybe it's bit like the Suzuka hairpin where if you take a wider, longer line instead of hitting the apex, you can carry a bit more speed through the turn and get a better run on exit.
I don't play this game but from what I see I'd guess you need to find a good line that has enough rotation to turn the car, but not too much to spin.
I once fell asleep watching Super GT and fell into a dream in which I was driving in Gran Turismo. It was pretty groovy.
@supergt some wheels (including yours I think) don't get the low curb rumble like in gt sport as it's now assigned to haptic engines. Please bring this up in a video as Polyphony left many of us in the dust.
really like the use of the point of view of the other driver, it really make it cooler and clearer, would love to see more of it
I don’t mind the corner change here anywhere near as much as the Trial Mountain change. Really miss launching off that final corner!
Big ups Maxpower really fantastic racing! Amazing content again Steve. Especially about the up hill dissent 😅
2:33 THROUGH GOES ALBON! Unbelievable stuff here in Deep Forest!
I kinda dig the hairpin, it's real difficult in reverse but I feel like I got good at it when it showed on launch. Love the middle sector of this track with the ford GT, the one that's red/blue default livery.
Like you said, when you get those curves right it's really satisfying
I'm currently mixed on that tight corner, i like it but at the same time it can be really annoying if you mess it up, especially in the reverse way for me.
One of my only two ever daily race first places was on this daily yesterday. I was stoked. (Only c class, but beat a few B clssses). It was one of those rare clean races. Its the little battles though midfield where this game shines. You can have such epic moments - even in the last places. GT7 VR is really a dream come true for an old Atari Pong player.
Never stop uploading, I love your videos 😍🔥
I could watch you commentate on gt7 races all day. So good.
I think the best way to take the corner is by keeping to the left at the entrance and then move to the inside at the exit
Getting used to the new layout was a bit tricky, but after driving on it with different cars I love the new layout, it’s especially satisfying to get every apex right through the forest parts of the track halfway through the lap.
I like the hairpin. The elevation change combined with its sharpness keeps the car quite unsettled at the apex. It's a great technical challenge.
I have this layout and category in my league this week. That hairpin is the bane of my life.
Very nice racing from both of you!
great battle alex. incredible scenes at deep forest.
enjoyed your commentary, thnx mate
awesome race great driving ty mate
i could be very wrong. but on a classic track like this. i feel the change well, changes the difficulty floor/ceiling.
it allows more room for new and older generation to clash.
its like that one chicane at spa. it separates the boys from the men to easily.
you can tell who "knows what they are doing" and that more or less isnt a fun race.
the grade & camber of the corner + the fact youre trying to power out of the corner while on full lock.
This hairpin is best navigate on the back tires, not the front. You can't hit it because in reverse it's slightly downhill and you're using the brakes to set your line, keeping the weight and balance over the front tires. This is why you understreer on exit (and oversteer if you hit the curb, because it throws the back around with the sudden balance change). You need to come off the brake on the outside line and turn into it with the weight as balanced as possible. As soon as the left rear is rotated you can get back into the throttle and aim for the oustside exit. Slow in, fast out on this hairpin. Fast in, slow out.
That was a mad race! Well done on P2!
With that tight of a hairpin, you can only either run the inside to save distance, or take a late line, almost a u turn and just drag race through the apex and carry as much speed as you can into the straight, kinda like what Max Power did to pass you the first time
Thanks for the upload brother ❤️
The hairpin is o.k. in the normal direction. Absolutely the Devil's work in reverse.
Love your videos mate. I’m not a huge Lewis fan myself but each to their own. Need some advice, rom everyone I guess. Should I go for a Logitech, a thrust master, or save and wait to get a Fanatec dd
The Ferrari hugs that corner perfectly and I’ve won all my races this week. Gain like half a second each lap off everyone else.
Great video as always. I'm no Super GT, but had the same experience trying to record a good Daily C race. Finally got a solid result today. QUESTION: do you record your replay footage with ray tracing or performance? Performance mode gives me stutters :\
Nice to see you hitting 12th place or somewhere in the midfield. Just started playing a few weeks ago and haven't been able to podium in this set of dailies. Glad I'm not the only one. Need to get a wheel like I had years ago with GT5. When my adrenaline is pumping my steering thumb starts twitching so during subtle high speed corners my line can get thrown off especially in the wet.
Speaking of wet here's a funny little tidbit. During the Circuit de la Sarthe section of the World GT Series I started off in a massively powered machine (can't remember which one atm) with racing soft. No problem getting to the front of the pack on the straights between chicanes but at the end of the second lap it starts raining and raining good. Impossible to put that power to the ground and braking and turning just as hard. After three races and the same thing so I thought I would be smart and try something different. I purchased wet tires for the car. At the end of lap two I pit and change to wet. I see the field pass me during an excruciatingly slow pit but no big deal I think. I'll pass them all on the back straight when it starts pouring rain. Simple, eh?
It did not rain.
Ended up pulling 7th place.
Super GT's existential tangent about "downhill ascents" had me in stitches lmfao
The hairpin of doom 😂. Any race with Max is worth the watch 👊🏻
I'm seeing lots of wheelspin out of the hairpin, seems like the grip levels change throughout the corner. But yes, the Titanic did turn faster.
The only thing better than that race was the edit. That rhythm in the camera changes was epic !
Love all the 3rd person angles 😊
Super GT: I forgot how to drive going into this hairpin.
Me: He took that turn better then I have in my life!
I totally agree super gt. I don't understand that corner there's just something about it that's not right I don't know what it is I don't know where it's kind of up and down hill that throws us off or what but yeah but there's something about it for sure. Love your channel man as always
Was also practicing the whole week to get a hold of that friggin first corner, but i think the track is fun and challenging - i like it :)
Yeah nice. Quality content. Close racing is always lore entertaining 👍🏼 I found the Mercedes to work well on both tyres and whilst not the fastest probably the most consistent 👍🏼👍🏼
I love that hairpin I feel great when I nail it and you get an epic run down that hill
The hairpin really does make or break your lap time. Also I like the reverse version more
In anticlockwise layout, you really need to pull right onto the kerb and turn as tight as possible, to make it work. I've not done it in a GT3 car yet though and expect it to be harder
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate a beautifully executed, “subscribe” placement👌🏼
All corners are good! I used to have pikes peak and the nordshliefe memorized simultaneously. I haven't seen pikes peak in so long that I forgot most of it, but the nordshliefe is burned into brain forever.
Rember how GT6 had the 80s Brands Hatch and whatnot? They could bring back the old Deep Forest and others as throwback tracks. That doesn't mean they have to use them in sport mode, or made for sport mode. The only thing is that Grand Valley has little hope to see something like that happen, and will probably bring down the chances of the others having it done to them.
It was entertaining! One quick tip, looking at the track and your driving [it], felt clear that this race is about gas pedal control, as well as strict braking. I think the main issue you have with that corner is that you cant quite control the gas pedal efficiently. On the times you did poorly were mostly shaky, but the ones you did better at (the latter ones) is much more steady and gradual (which gives you good turning and a nice exit. My suggestion is that you try harden your gas pedal, say.. 10/15%, by doing that you will have better control of the pedal and put it right where you want it at all times. ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE: if you go this route expect to perform poorly for a few days, your head needs time adjusting to the new feeling of a harder pedal and find again the points you had.
Are you a top driver in gt7?
@@rain4577 no, i dont even have a playstation 5 lol, im just someone really into sim racing or racing games in general. Play way too many through my whole life and i think that gives me some vision of some stuff, def not on the top i can tell you that much, there is waaay faster people than me in places like dirt rally
I've never raced the older version the circuit. I've only ever known it with the hairpin but I do agree with you that its far less disastrous and much better in the regular layout versus the reverse layout
5:53 pretty hard part but it feels good when you handle
the way you do that turn is not by following a gradual apex. instead, you come in to the turn fast, brake hard, and treat the turn like a V instead of like a U. yes it means you will reach a lower speed than if you had followed an apex, but it also means youre out of the turning process, faster. its why some of the drivers were seemingly stopping on the apex of that turn.
2:17 is the best way to take the corner
The tracks on "The most realistic driving simulator" sometimes get an update or a corner change, just like tracks do in real life......
I LOVE the GR3 Suzuki. It's actually a top 5 on this game for me. So easy to control and very quick.
This corner always feels like it just never rubbers in, like it's perpetually dusty
There was a daily race B here several months ago that I was doing in the Ferrari. I kept getting oversteer on the hairpin exit but there was also 9+ m/s wind so I thought that was the issue. I guess the corner itself is just broken
Portugal coastguard: Brace yo'selfs , the brits are coming !
Love ur videos Super GT 💪🏻❤️
Reminds me of the Grand Valley hairpin after (or before, in reverse) the main straight.
Glad I'm not the only one that struggled with that hairpin. Trying it in reverse is even harder with that hill and kink to the left.
Amazingly intense final lap too.
I've pretty much given up on GT7, but yeah, that hairpin is an affront against humanity. Much more so when I loved that last part of Deep Forest in the old games.
I feel like you've gone through the whole ascending downhills confusion before :D
that ghost is just slowing down earlier, turning in a bit earlier and then straightlining the exit.
I'm pretty sure there was a hairpin very similar to this way back in the first GT on PS1, and it took me an AGE to lear to drive it.
That Cyberpunk Edgerunners livery from the first race tho🔥🔥
Not sure anyone noticed, but there is a slight elevation change right at the apex of that hairpin. It is a small drop on the regular circuit...for the reverse it is a slight bump. Maybe that's why it feels so weird?
It's like the hairpin on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, or Turn 1 in Laguna Seca
What a beautiful race! 🔥
Love the Crofty reference lol :)
