    DCS really needs to integrate something like SRS to the game itself instead. It's a bit much for folks to expect a third party optional install with a whole 'nother layer of bindings to be necessary.

      @@TacticalPascale All the new players are trying to use the built in voip and all the elders are in SRS....it's not helping the multiplayer side of the game. And i tend to agree with Squirrel....no 3rd party software just to chat in a game that now HAS voice chat. A LOT of ppl are cautious of 3rd party programs due to hackers/viruses, etc.

    Great video! Really well put together and edited.
    While it isn't etiquette per se, I think it should also be said that players shouldn't fire fox-3s into a furbal. Most of the team kills I see are from situations where someone is pumping an AMRAAM or Aim-54 into a fight with a friendly and bandit in close proximity. I don't think there is malice behind it, just a lack of understanding the disadvantages of using those weapon types in that situation. Perhaps an idea for a later video!

    • @cavandduck5603
      @cavandduck5603 4 роки тому +4

      Agreed. You should never fire an AIM-54 into an area where friendlies are within 5-10miles of the target, especially if you are firing it from 40+ miles away. When it goes pitbull, who the hell knows if it'll stay on target. I know I get heartburn every time I fire a Phoenix on GaW and then see a friendly fly towards the enemy formation.

    Number One for the Aerobatics servers. Don't form up on someone without telling them. Don't know how many times I've had a mid-air because someone joined up in an EXTREMELY tight formation, I didn't see them, and I rolled 90 and pulled hard. The pilot you're shadowing may be doing airwork to learn the plane better. Remember, sims are the only place where it's not a bad idea to have a drink and fly.

    Good video concept Pascale, subbed. More suggested rules from someone who's been in multiplayer since the LOMAC days more than a decade ago.
    1. Clear the runway as soon as you can, don't loiter on the runway or refuel there. On the carriers, don't loiter on the catapults.
    2. Keep the taxiways clear. If you must rearm there then move completely to the side and make yourself small (fold or sweep wings for jets that can do that) in narrow taxiways.
    3. It's not about 'you'. Nobody wants to hear what you can do, if you want to be noticed then show your skills without comment.
    4. If everyone on a server quietly doing air-to-ground and you want to do air-to-air don't come and slaughter defenceless ground pounders and helos. Instead go and find a server with air-to-air opponents. Otherwise in order to satisfy your lame ego you ruin the flying time of others.
    5. Many people have busy lives and limited flying time, don't ruin other people's experience as they may have been waiting all month for an hour to fly.
    6. Learn to land. Seriously. It's not that hard. Start 1000 feet AGL and get to approach speech.
    7. Read the mission brief. There is no good pilot who doesn't know at least the concept of the mission. That'll stop you killing friendly air defences.
    8. When in voice comms don't interrupt folks talking. Listen and think about what you say - add something meaningful or ask questions.
    9. If admin bans you go away and reflect why they did that. We don't ban unless your behaviour is egregious.
    10. Ask for help. People are happy to teach you tactics or help with the next step of a procedure.
    11. Read the manuals or watch online tutorials. There is zero excuse for not learning about a procedure you need. While people will help to aid your memory few have time to teach you from scratch.
    12. Follow the rules of the server. If it says no taxiway takeoffs then don't do them. Land on the left of the runway if that is the rule. Unless you love being banned.
    13. Manage your fuel. If you think you are elite because you ran around on afterburner but could not make it back to base then you look like a chump, because you are. Never ever run out of fuel. Good pilots bring their platforms back every time they are undamaged. If you run out of fuel you are not a good pilot.
    14. If someone kills you in fair fight it is good manners to complement them with "gk" (good kill) or S! (salute!). If they thought you fought well then they may respond with "gf" (good fight). Acknowleging the work and skill they brought to bear in the fight builds up your own reputation as a decent person who can recognize skill in others.
    15. Don't steal kills. If someone else is engaging a target you can support by tracking the target and preparing to engage if your coalition mate cannot complete the kill. Do not fire and try steal the kill they worked to manuever the enemy into.
    16. If you want to do anything that can affect another player you can - just ask for their consent first. Keep cool if they say "no", they may have reasons you don't yet know and they cannot explain right now.
    17. Don't take stuff so personally. Your ego is a tool that you need to manage as much as your energy state. Dial your ego up when you need aggression and dial it down to humility the rest of the time.
    18. Practice, practice, practice. There is no shortcut to getting good. You must spent time and focussed concentration to improve.
    19. Realise people don't care. This is good is that they quickly forget your mistakes. You care about you, they care about themselves - don't expect them to care about you.
    20. "I'm ok, you're ok" - other people are ok and you don't need to assert you are better by putting them down. You are ok and you don't need to put yourself down either. Then we can all get along.
    21. You always have something more to learn or improve on - air combat is like golf, you can always improve your game. Understand that no matter how well you have done there is someone somewhere that is better at that than you. So keep improving.

Whatever you decide to do, use some form of voice coms, it will go over much smoother with people than trying to read a text message while in ACM

    These really are ten essential rules for DCS multiplayer etiquette.
    I agree that SRS is essential, it transforms the game to a whole new level. On a semi-serious server like Hoggits, you'll have players playing GCI, and usually you'll also have Overlordbot as a backup as well. Overlord's tripwire warnings have saved me a few times. The guys on Hoggits are chill, can have a bit of a laugh and a joke around when things aren't happening.
    I think one rule you missed is to not fire Fox-3 active radar missiles into a furball because of the risks of the missile locking a friendly. It's just too risky.

    The f-5e doesn’t have iff as I have understood...is there a tactic to do it without? I saw someone use the f-10 map to see if the plane he has picked up is on the map..if not it’s an enemy...is that a legit method?

    • @TacticalPascale
      @TacticalPascale  4 роки тому +1

      If you are flying in an F5 without IFF you need to be able to communicate on the radio to call "buddy Spike" when you're locked up by a friendly. Regarding A2A engagements, you will be visual with your target to use your sidewinders, therefore eliminating the need for IFF as you can visually identify the target.

    I have to admit, gotta love when you're getting spiked, fire at the plane that is spiking you only to find out that you just shot a friendly because he couldn't care to turn on his IFF and goes blasting that radar at people instead and proceeds to get pissy and blame you when he gets shot.

Playing keyboard & mouse with TRACK IR, but what I DONT have is a wing-man or anyone to show me the ropes online. Would anyone be willing to add me to their Discord server for friendly multiplayer? Got a question about IFF: Does the IFF system (Say, in the hornet for example), rely on the other player also turning their IFF on? Or does it just know?

    • @louissikkema5399
      @louissikkema5399 4 роки тому +2

      At the moment Iff is really simplyfied, but in the future the other guy will have to turn it on for it to work.
      Also the iff can't confirm that a target is an enemy, it only listens for the correct response, but if the response is incorrect, it could be a friendly with a defect / switched off transponder, a neutral aircraft or an aircraft that has no transponder.

    God, I still see people do all of that wrong... Last week, in a single sessions, I had 3 eventful landings, one with a guy pulling up on the runway when I was 10 seconds for touchdown, one when a guy just took off from the taxiway and steered hard above the runway while I was on approach, and one with a guy who decided landing right behind me was a good idea, crashing and taking my wing with him.
    And in that same session, I had a friendly shoot an aim7 at me cause apparently using IFF in the F16 was too hard for him, and later on, while coming back after taking damage, I called I was 20kts out from the base, and my bearing, saying I was damaged and needed to land fast on both SRS and chat, only to be locked by an F18, I called the buddyspike, checked on the F10 map, identified the guy, called out his name and telling him he was locking me up, and he still shot...
