I was esceptic about nearl being stronger, well she is very strong but i dont think it has the sheer strength to punch a hole through metal that tomimi mentions in the event
Basically a fight between str + tank build vs dmg dex agility build. I'd say many people underestimate gavial a lot but she's been fighting savages from her land all her life it's what their people do. Nearl is a exceptionally skill fighter while Gavial is a tenacious fighter.

Strength goes to Gavial They both have good arts adaptability, only that Gavial specializes in healing arts while Nearl uses light arts. They have roughly the same speed. Pretty much comes down to if Gavial can outlast Nearls holy lances.

I guess it depends on the race. Kurantas are more on speed and mobility, in Margaret's case she has excellent physique and excellent mobility. Archosaurias have raw physical strength and tough bodies, in Gavial's case she has excellent physical strength and excellent physiological endurance. If these two would have a normal fight, Margaret can make the first move over Gavial. Gavial can win in a fist fight.
For me, the main factor is that we know Nearl won against her uncle (a silverlance pegasi, and am pretty sure he's not a low ranking one) without using her arts.

The only advantage Nearl would have is her radiant light arts. Pretty sure Gavial would smoke Nearl and this is coming from a Nearl fan.

To be fair the Nearl bloodline is a very strong family while Gavial is just a girl in the jungle, the Nearl bloodline(again) is deeply connected to Arts practice and have the body to hold arts while gavial literally only used her arts or if we can even call it arts in her healer form with the staff Last one would be the combat prowess where Nearl got years worth of proper training and Gavial just fought who was strong and that was that she also spent a good portion dedicated to the Medical departmenr
