Thank you. I own a 66GTO that I bought in Feb. of 1966. Mine is a 2 door coupe with a 389ci 4barrel 335 hp with a 4 speed wide ratio, Marina Turquoise in color with a black interior. Your video brought tears to my eyes and joy in my heart, again thank you.
This is what it's all about! As with all GTO owners, these cars were built to be driven and raced at the track! Great video and thanks for sharing the memories! I have a 64' Le Mans 2 dr Post Coupe, Teal in color, currently building a 428 for it! Still has the original 326, but it's getting tired. Thanks again for the great vid!
The tri power was rated @ 360 HP. The 4bbl was 335 in 1965. The 64 was 325 HP with 4bbl and 348 HP with tri power. This engine at least has a cam you can tell that by the idle, but I also believe he has a lot more. I have a tri power 65 with 3:90 gears. I can't go but around 105 and thats screaming.
Probably one of the best ride-along vids on youtube. Really got a feel for the speed. Lol almost felt like you were gonna eat it around one of those curves! My dad's GTO is a '67. Just the best. Thanks!
Not too many people would run a valuable car as hard as you did and i commend you for driving like these cars should be driven. Brings back a lot of memories. Most of my musclecars were of the 4 spd. variety. Ain't nothing like one hand on the wheel, one on the shifter and the car sideways. Thanks for this AWESOME video.
I drove my 69; Road Runner and other cars like this like this all the time...but that was in the 70s and 80s. Now I drive my 17' Super Sport Camaro 6 speed like this.😁
Notice how he sits pretty far back in his seat? Its because he needs all the space he can get to fit his massive balls to drive a car like this around those bends at those speeds 😂 what a champ 🙌🏻
I appreciate this to the max. My late brother and I loved the ground on which our GTO's rolled and at times, went to war. Go, Go GTO!!! Thanks again :-)
Holy crap, this makes my heart race!!!! WOOOOOO WHOOOO!!!!!! Kids today have no idea what they missed!!! I will never forget those days, and I will always love them!!!! Thanks for the ride, it was awesome!!

Best video on UA-cam. I come back from time to time to watch again it never gets old the way you drive that car sir it's amazing. This man is a very skilled driver no traction control no stability or abs no bullshit just real driving. Well done sir 👍🏽
I don't know what it is....but just from the sound I could tell it was a pontiac 389/400/421/455 with a cam. They just have a different sound than a Chevy. That sound takes me back to so many sunday drives... My father had a nice 65, I loved that car. Grew up learning how to wrench on it. 3x2 4 speed but with a built 400 since the original engine was toast when he and my mother bought it...But once my mother died dad couldn't stand to be around it due to the memories. He cheap sold it to a guy who then tried to flip it. My brother and I tried to buy it from my father but he didn't want to see it anymore. A few years down the road and I understand why but it still hurts. My brother and I tried to buy it from the guy he sold it to but he wanted 50k after a 5k paintjob and putting on some cragars. If I had enough money I would have paid that POS flipper just on sentimental value alone. If I don't get it back I'll buy a 64 tempest, lemans, gto and build it with my son who is 18 months but loves watching me wrench. If we get to work on a Pontiac together than he will get it!

Wow, your video brought back great memories! I used to street race my 64 Tri-Power GTO and won 39 of 41 races. That was back in my high school days of the late 60s. What a FUN car she was! When I raced, we always started from a roll, about 25-30 mph. Then, we hit it, and off to the races! Like many others commenting here, I wish more owners would put the petal to the metal. The ole' goat was meant to run, not walk. Thank you for doing it right. GTOs are meant to run!

Two words LOVE IT! I absolutely LOVE IT sold my 64 GTO a year ago missed it everyday since. If you ever decide to sell this one I would love to have first crack at owning it. LOVE IT nice job on the video and narration. Thanks for reminding me how fun they are.
My brother had 64 Gto with Tri-Power 389, i had a 66 Gto with a 400 and my Nephew had a 66 Gto but can't remember the motor in it. When i seen this video it was like the best thing i have seen in years, thanks "old man" your awesome!
@@jayhiggins1141 I'm sorry i had the 1968 with the 400 but not original motor (I don't think anyways) but built to the gills. My nephew had the 1966 GTO but i am not sure on that motor, i assume your probably right on that. I went off to the marines and got to be friends with a guy who was from Des Moines not far from my hometown. I sold it to him on payments and he got out of the service on a medical, he never sent me the money so i looked him up when i came back on leave. He said it caught on fire and burnt up😡, of course i never got a dime out of him. I did go check to see 👀 if he was lying to me but it was burnt up, I called the flat bed company loaded the car got my title and left!!
I have goosebumps sir! I have a '64 hardtop bronze over saddle that is all original with 98 grand on the clock. The reason I bought it was that my dad had a marimba red hardtop that he bought in '66 and his folks sold it on him when he got drafted in '68. He put a lot of work into it and it ran hard on Woodward in Detroit. Mine is bone stock and I don't want to molest it but I would love a rig like yours.
Made me smile! About 20 years ago I had a 1965 Chevelle with a dyno proven 681 hp 496 BBC. It had a full cage, ran 10's on pump gas, was licensed and insured. I would drive it into work at least once or twice a week, and I regularly just drove it everywhere. One day I was at a big parts house and the clerk needed to see my car to make sure I was getting the right part. When he saw the car, he just said: " oh my God - you are that guy!" I wasn't sure what he meant by that, so I asked: what do you mean? He said that he had heard rumors about some old guy seen dressed in a suit and tie, driving with slicks, a cage, a 5" cowl hood, in a thumping big block Chevelle, looking like he was just driving a Cadillac on his way to work - and then blasting off as soon as there was an opening in traffic! This is a nice GTO, driven enjoyably I would say.
i absolutely love this video! 1 have a 4bbl 4-speed 64. I drive mine as much as i can which is pretty much every day except for wet days of course. i drive it hard but dont abuse it. my kids dont care for it much, they prefer electric vehicles haha. where did i go wrong?
Had a 70 GTO with a 400. I replaced the quadrajet with a bolt on 835 cfm, spreadbore, double pumper Holley. I opened the exhaust as well. I had a problem similar to the Old Man's, I only new OFF and Wide Open. The biggest problem with most of the GTOs was slowing them down. I wore out a new set of Micky Thompson 50s in a week. I busted out laughing when that Old Man first got on it. I had my wife watch it with me. We laughed so hard we cried, and we had a death grip on our chairs the entire ride. I had to get rid of the GTO because of speeding tickets. I bought a 4 cylinder Subaru and have never drove a really powerful car since. That was over 40 years ago. Thanks! Drive it like you stole it!
Thank you for posting this great video. Mt dad absolutely loved the video. He had a 1964 GTO configured very much like yours. Nocturne Blue, pillar post. NO power options. 4 speed, 4 bbl carb. The video brought tears to his eyes and reminded him of the great times he had in that car.
I love that!!!! Must check out my little burn out today, same car but not as great a video as yours!!! That video rocked the feeling of a 1964 GTO, nothing quite like it in America in it's day. Tom
Rick, my dad said he used to run his until he saw the fire come from the cracks of the hood, then he said that he would always have to replace the header gaskets because that's what burned up lol!
That's the only part of this video that made me cringe was the memory of those godawful 9-1/2 inch drum brakes. They were marginal at low speed, but if you ever had to use them while "performance testing", you might as well prepare yourself for instant brake fade and just hope for the best. Today, I wouldn't take one of these cars out of the driveway without upgrading to disc brakes.
I'm sure glad there wasn't anybody coming the other way or passing someone while you were flying down the road, either that or you must know the cops real good .At least you had enough respect to not throw any power shifts on that gorgeous classic
Thanks for the ride "Old Man", it was exhilarating and exciting as it brought back memories of my full size '66 Pontiac 2+2, 421 Cu In Tri-Power carb beast. Just wondering if you ever learned to power shift them gears in an earlier life?
"I'm not too sure about these powerful cars... I don't know... nah, let's get on it."
Well done, sir, well done.

This engine at least has a cam you can tell that by the idle, but I also believe he has a lot more. I have a tri power 65 with 3:90 gears. I can't go but around 105 and thats screaming.
beautiful gto☆☆☆ the best part is the tripower carbs but it's even better because it's plain jane

I had a 64 GTO tripower 4 speed years ago wish I hadn't sold it same with my 68

This man is cool! But the GTO is cooler!
Nice nice nice video the best car💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you for posting this great video. Mt dad absolutely loved the video. He had a 1964 GTO configured very much like yours. Nocturne Blue, pillar post. NO power options. 4 speed, 4 bbl carb. The video brought tears to his eyes and reminded him of the great times he had in that car.
That's the way it's done kids, to old my as#.
I love that!!!!
Must check out my little burn out today, same car but not as great a video as yours!!!
That video rocked the feeling of a 1964 GTO, nothing quite like it in America in it's day.
Tom
That was fun ;)
I'm taking a 64 gto to prom and I can't wait to take it now. Going to be a lot of fun!
Rick, my dad said he used to run his until he saw the fire come from the cracks of the hood, then he said that he would always have to replace the header gaskets because that's what burned up lol!
I noticed the single piston master cylinder under the hood. I'm sure it has 4 wheel manual drum brakes. You have big balls my friend!
Best FOOKEN car video on the INTERNET, GREAT GREAT JOB!
Now thats how you make a video! Thanks for sharing it!
That's what I call "having fun"
I'm sure glad there wasn't anybody coming the other way or passing someone while you were flying down the road, either that or you must know the cops real good .At least you had enough respect to not throw any power shifts on that gorgeous classic
Thanks for the ride "Old Man", it was exhilarating and exciting as it brought back memories of my full size '66 Pontiac 2+2, 421 Cu In Tri-Power carb beast. Just wondering if you ever learned to power shift them gears in an earlier life?
New title The Crazy Old Man & His GTO, love it!
and back to moms house. lol
He not afraid to drive that goat
