Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is a video game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), published by Nintendo in 1995. It is the second episode of the Donkey Kong Country saga. It is the continuation of Donkey Kong Country. In 2004 it was also released for Game Boy Advance. At first the subtitle was Diddy Kong's Quest, then it was changed to Diddy's Kong Quest, which sounds a lot like Diddy's Conquest.
Plot
The days passed peacefully on Donkey Kong island, with games, dancing and music, as well as a siesta on the beach, complete with fruit juice and deckchairs. One of these afternoons, DK was peacefully taking his siesta on a beach on the island, when a gang of Kremlings, the fearsome crocodile pirates, attacked and kidnapped him, taking him to their island, "Kremling's Island". The ransom letter was clear: the Kongs had to hand over their entire supply of bananas to the Kremlings, otherwise they would never see Donkey Kong again. The Kongs held a small meeting, where the situation was explained to all the family members, who decided not to pay the ransom, but to free Donkey Kong.
For this mission, despite a silent disapproval on the part of some family members, Diddy Kong volunteered, claiming that he had already faced the Kremlings with Donkey Kong, and stated that if the ransom was paid to free him, it would not be not happy at all. So it was up to him to save his uncle, accompanied by his girlfriend, Dixie.
Game mode
The game consists of 7 worlds to explore, all located on the scary and mysterious Kremling's Island. Through various levels you go from a galleon stranded in the island's bay (with climbing on ropes and swimming in the flooded holds) to hotter environments, in the "Crocodile Cauldron" (the volcanic area of ​​the island), from abandoned mines to caves frozen, until reaching the fortress of Captain K. Rool.
There is, new to this episode, a secret world, called "The Lost World", reachable only through the bridge guarded by the gigantic Klubba. Completing all the levels of the "Lost World" allows the definitive conclusion of the game.
The two protagonists controlled by the player are:
Diddy: finally protagonist of his own adventure, Diddy has the same abilities he had in Donkey Kong Country. Plus, he can lift and throw Dixie to reach high places. At each end of the level, if Diddy completes it, he will dance with a stereo.
Dixie: Diddy's girlfriend, she uses her ponytail hair to attack enemies and glide. She can also take Diddy and throw him. She wears a peaked cap and constantly chews chewing gum. She is Tiny Kong's sister.
