- Hey guys in this video we asses the damage to the boat and begin to tear up the floor. I find that I'm in for a long project and have a lot of stuff that I didn't account for but we are going to get it restored and on the water as soon as possible. PLEASE LIKE COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE.

The reason why the boat doesn't have any wood stringers is because when they made the old Boston Whalers (60s/70s, can't speak for newer ones not 100% sure) is that they used a two part mold where they had the top half and bottom half put together and then they would fill the inside of the boat with the foam and would overfill the boat so the foam was super dense. This is what made the "unsinkable"
Highly recommend reading up about the boat on continuous wave forum. They have a ton of information about the boats on there.
I am in the process of getting my 1964 17ft Boston Whaler Nauset sea worthy again too so I understand the pain!
Good luck with the project! looking forward to seeing the progress!
That's actually really cool I didn't know that I will definitely have to read up on it. Good luck with your project too! Yea me too cant wait to get it on the water it'll all be worth it then, and thanks for the support more videos coming real soon.
I came across your video and will follow along! I refit my 1981 13' Whaler last year and have been on the water almost every week this spring/summer it was well worth it.
But man oh man I've never seen a deck ripple from underlying water quite like that or see the fiberglass top coat peel back like wet cardboard. The boat must have had a rough history, more than leakage from the plywood center council (which along with pushing the battery forward I liked) You're probably way ahead on this but I'd be studying the wood diagrams on at the Whaler Central or Continuous Wave sites.
Good luck, think of the process as a reward in itself!
Thanks for the support! The fiberglass on the deck looked like that because it was the wrong fiberglass and only one layer lol. But yea looking forward to it being done too more restoration videos coming soon!
Great job. Keep up the good work, the end result will be worth it.
You got that right
Love the channel. All the hard work will pay off!
It did! the first water test was the most satisfying thing. Thanks for watching
Good job broski
saw a guy use a pressure washer to get foam out. seemed to work well. cool video.
Ill have to try that out next project! That would be sooo much faster
Damn. I have the same whaler and I thought I had a lot of work to do on mines but yours take the cake. Good to see what youve done on this whaler.
Yea mine was pretty far gone but it was a fun project! Thank you I appreciate that, thanks for watching
Oh wow
It was quite the project! Thanks for watching
Well you got it for a good price.
Yea I got it for a steal! Its a great boat, thanks for watching
Maximum effort
Thanks I appreciate it! Thanks for watching
How much did you pay for your boat? I just got one a month ago and it has one soft spot in the deck. I’m unsure if it’s worth it to do what your doing or just drill some holes and vacuum out the water as it fills?
So I bought it for $2100 and that came with the hull the motor which is basically what I was paying for and the trailer. I am repowering real soon though because a 15 is just too slow. It depends me personally on the long run id say I would re do the floor because its just going to cause head aches in the future trying to keep getting the water out and you'll appreciate the end result and it is kind of fun working on it. What HP motor do you have on yours??
Where did you buy those puma work boots 🥾! I got to get a pair.
I got them on Amazon! They are like $60, search huk fishing shoes and you’ll find em
you dont even have to open the boat up.... if you can cut the floor with a knife you know you got bigger problems.
YUP LOL. The previous floor was absolutely terrible and came up way to easy. The new floor I put in is not going anywhere. Thanks for the support!
Sinkable legend. Foam not a good idea. Gimme a drain plug or bilge pump.
Boston whalers are the best for sure
@@oneofakindoutdoors I always loved the brand. I am sad that the dealers didn’t have inventory this winter for me. I just bought my family a Yamaha. A whaler would outlive me, other boats r to be enjoyed for a few years and then trade it for something else.
yea I agree thats why I love Boston Whalers and Grady White so much because they are quality boats, good luck trying to find one new boats are hard to come by with the shortages. What hp yamaha did you get?
@@oneofakindoutdoors 250hp. 195s. I still have school age children. So the aft section sold me. I couldn’t live with myself if their was a boating accident under my watch.
I love whalers. I am sure I will have my dream boat one day. But there is more than one person in my family of course, lol.
@@chevy4x466 Wow a 250, Yea I hear ya hopefully one day Ill get my dream boat too, im just glad I can be out on the water
On an original whaler there should NOT be plywood under the deck like that. What an absolute hack job by the previous owner.
LOL, I know, the previous owner didn’t do it right either, I would’ve done what I did a different way too though
@@oneofakindoutdoors Yeah, once the plywood was in it's in, not much you can do about that.
tell me you know nothing about boats with out telling me you know nothing about boats
I mean this is my first time working on a boat and restoring one so I'm still learning a lot. That's why I'm doing this series so that I can document me learning and have others give me some positive insight. Thanks for watching!
