I go to Japan's biggest car auction USS Tokyo & find cars that are highly graded 4's that should have been low R grades. This proves that you can't trust the auction reports & grading system. Does this prove bribes & money under the table deals with the inspectors? I'll let you decide.
Sam SW20's have body coloured "TOYOTA" badges from factory.

Can confirm, also the "Turbo" badges are color matching as well on the turbo cars
I was literally about to post the same thing, he still doesn't know how to spot a turbo version from the NA
@@bespincustompropsbombarta8300 the giveaways are turbo cars have a raised engine lid ( 2 vent bumps) the NA is completely flat. there's also a center console between the seats. and if you can see the dash there is a + - Boost gauge instead of a volt meter.

Good video, this stuff needs to be exposed more especially to amateur buyers. I always thought Japan’s auction were some of the most thorough/honest but I guess money can corrupt anything

you would be surprised. People have the misconception that Japan is paradise on earth, it isn't. there is a lot of racism, discrimination and corruption. People should make the difference between Anime/Manga and real life. Japan has good sides and bad sides like everywhere else. You need to live there to see these kinds of things and not just go on vacation there and think this is the place to be

It's a shame this is happening, I worked in those same auctions back in 2001-02 and the grading system was honest and prices were cheap compared to the now crazy jdm market..

Been importing for 12+ years just imported my last car evo x manual I’m done with the crazy prices . Let’s hope my 10 GSR rises in price like all the rest I sold 🤦🏻♂️ thanks for exposing the system I had suspected as much the corruption goes soooo deep when there is money to be made under the table sadly for that reason I am out after 12+ years

Pretty heartbreaking seeing how corrupt the used car market is in Japan and the rising prices there and in the states isn’t making me optimistic by the time I’m able to buy one for myself
Yellow S15 is Lightning Yellow (EV1), CYM is a Mazda RX7 thing.

That is why we NEVER trust the auction sheets and always have our guys to check the cars.

there's plenty of those in the US already.
Check out kalvin malli on yt, he bought a gtr with lots of issues and was lied to about the grade/quality.

The orange seats/door cards were a factory option, I think Spec B/B Spec something like that, similar option choice as the blue ones.

the mr2 baddges come like that from the factory. I'm the second owner of mine, has never been resprayed and mine is the same way. Only the one that says "Toyota" though. nothing weird there
GTO would be fun pushing through those 55km corner's at 140km was crazy back in the day friend brought one and the handling was amazing 😊 driving car nice for open road driving

I used an import company for one into Australia and I think there is also corruption within the people they pay to inspect cars. Mine had hidden rust and signs of repair which never got reported to me. And of course the company that you pay for these quality inspections do not accept any liability.

i remember when my grade 4 Toyota Starlet GT EP82 with full recaro and sunroof cost me only £1400 here in the UK as a second UK owner. And my EVO 5 grade 4 only £4000. I got to enjoy these cars for buttons, now people coughing up their life savings, tragic
Thats because for Canada and the U.S. they have a 15 and 25 year ban before they're legal to import. They're kind of like forbidden fruit, and then add years of hype. They had to wait 15 years(Canda) and 25(states) to get them, so people pay a premium. Beyond 15, most of these cars are beaten and getting rare, so a supposedly clean one will fetch high dollar.

And in addition to that, it is not only limited to just the auctions anymore. The whole export handling has become such a hustle. Falsified documented buyout prices, crazy container fees, forged tax documents, additional negotiations to "speed" up the export. The last rip off we heard of was during last summer from a local shop that was asked to pay 15,000$ premium in addition to the 2000$ basic overseas shipping fee with the justification that this extra payment (read bribe) might accelerate container shipping. As far as we know the container still hasn't moved a feet away from it's park position on the port.

‘Not original’- That actually is an original interior. Known as the option b interior that came in both blue and orange colours. Very very rare option and sell for ridiculous prices. Only sub 240 orange and about double that were of blue were made. 5k+ here in aus. I have the full interior in my car and it’s awesome.

These prices piss me off on the jdm big 3 GTR's supra and RX-7'S it's just people running the prices up bye hoarding them. I hope this bubble pops soon. And shout out to Kalvins garage for the minimal rust lol but throw some subs his way to help him out they finessed the shit out of him with that R32.
I expect a lot of bubbles to pop but those examples won't. Better to just forget about them at this point sadly.

15:15 - most mr2s have this badge paint matched. I think they actually came factory like that? Since I've never seen a chrome one before unless someone installs it. And I've seen hundreds of mr2s. So no, this mr2 seems clean. Most are still decent since they havent been molested yet..

The 3000GT's are cheap because the electrics will explode at random and the engine bay is so tight it's near impossible to work on the thing

Orange seats in an s15 are OEM and very rare. It's an interior option (option b) that was chosen by the original buyer when purchasing the car from nissan by ticking a box. There were only 1100 option b s15's manufactured and the vast majority of them were the blue option with I believe less than 300 being orange. They also sell for crazy money (like 3k USD),I have a set in my S15 and love them. Also CYM is the colour code for yellow Mazda's. S15 yellow is EV1
