People should make the difference between Anime/Manga and real life. Japan has good sides and bad sides like everywhere else. You need to live there to see these kinds of things and not just go on vacation there and think this is the place to be
It's a shame this is happening, I worked in those same auctions back in 2001-02 and the grading system was honest and prices were cheap compared to the now crazy jdm market.. Nice seeing these videos keep up the good work...
Since the increased demand for these cars the quality has dropped drastically. Been importing for 12+ years just imported my last car evo x manual I’m done with the crazy prices . the mr2 baddges come like that from the factory. I'm the second owner of mine, has never been resprayed and mine is the same way. Only the one that says "Toyota" though. nothing weird there
I used an import company for one into Australia and I think there is also corruption within the people they pay to inspect cars. Mine had hidden rust and signs of repair which never got reported to me. And of course the company that you pay for these quality inspections do not accept any liability.

Very thankful for you doing videos like this. I'm not in the market for anything, but knowing how people will pay so much based off initial looks. Like you mentioned the UA-cam videos and blogs about people buying their dream car only to find out its a complete lemon.
And in addition to that, it is not only limited to just the auctions anymore. The whole export handling has become such a hustle. Falsified documented buyout prices, crazy container fees, forged tax documents, additional negotiations to "speed" up the export. The last rip off we heard of was during last summer from a local shop that was asked to pay 15,000$ premium in addition to the 2000$ basic overseas shipping fee with the justification that this extra payment (read bribe) might accelerate container shipping. As far as we know the container still hasn't moved a feet away from it's park position on the port.

15:15 - most mr2s have this badge paint matched. I think they actually came factory like that? Since I've never seen a chrome one before unless someone installs it. And I've seen hundreds of mr2s. So no, this mr2 seems clean. Most are still decent since they havent been molested yet..

Thats because for Canada and the U.S. they have a 15 and 25 year ban before they're legal to import. They're kind of like forbidden fruit, and then add years of hype. They had to wait 15 years(Canda) and 25(states) to get them, so people pay a premium. Beyond 15, most of these cars are beaten and getting rare, so a supposedly clean one will fetch high dollar.
These prices piss me off on the jdm big 3 GTR's supra and RX-7'S it's just people running the prices up bye hoarding them. I hope this bubble pops soon. And shout out to Kalvins garage for the minimal rust lol but throw some subs his way to help him out they finessed the shit out of him with that R32.

Orange seats in an s15 are OEM and very rare. It's an interior option (option b) that was chosen by the original buyer when purchasing the car from nissan by ticking a box. There were only 1100 option b s15's manufactured and the vast majority of them were the blue option with I believe less than 300 being orange. They also sell for crazy money (like 3k USD),I have a set in my S15 and love them. Also CYM is the colour code for yellow Mazda's. S15 yellow is EV1
What about the galant vr4 I use to have a 2001 usdm 6g72 Mitsubishi galant had some money put into it also had one of a kind tyc tail lights that I left on it when I broke down in Albuquerque New Mexico junked it at bones auto salvage man I miss that car I seen a few in some of your car auction videos
