Fake Window Taken to Another Level!

- How to make a fake window? Most (if not all) of them aren't like this one. It was an idea I had and I figured out a way to make it happen. This project is not for the meek, but it gives you a a lot of satisfaction in the end.

This was by far the funniest moment of my week, with the nonchalant attitude and indifference in presentation. I laughed so hard, and yet found out exactly what I needed to do to reproduce a realistic section of our stage set for an upcoming Fall production, by utilizing the window/computer integration. Thank you, Marty :)
Finally someone who is actually going to do this! If you end up having questions lemme know.
Omg your awesome!! I’ve been trying to find a way to bring some light into my daughters basement bedroom. We moved cross country and she is missing our former home that was on a beach. Though we now have beautiful mountain views I know she is going to go crazy when I turn on her new window that will have the same view of the beach. I’ve had friends from former community film the beach for 24 hours. Her new window will show the beach 25/7 with sunrise and sunsets she misses so much. As a big surprise at 9:30 pm her friends all come to the beach light a campfire and sing along to the guitar like old times. Thank you for this amazing idea.
That's great. I forgot to mention that you don't have to make a vertical window. You can always make a horizontal one that has a wider scene on it. I'd use a 40-55" TV depending on the size of the wall it's on. Also, that will mean you can play UA-cam videos (or any other normal video) on it without a problem.
@WTFrUNutsBch What a wonderful and thoughtful gift for your daughter! I'm literally crying at the thought of how heartfelt the idea is! I hope it's done and that she absolutely loves it!
Best fake window video out there. I would want a live feed of my backyard. Hmm.......
Ha ha
No that’s brilliant both this video and your backyard feed idea I love it
I loved your enthusiasm and striving to do projects that no professional at $100 an hour will actually complete like you or someone like you can. Keep up the good work and videos. I have taken on complex projects that my kids said I shouldn't and ended up working off and on for weeks or months but it is my home and my project. The satisfaction of diy is priceless and not even possible by a pro. BTW those concrete glass countertops are one of a kind and kudos to you for tackling. You are right that even when you pay someone work can be shady and you will have to fix it.
You understand completely. This kitchen took me a few years and I'm still not done.
Shekar Benakatti Where are you getting skilled workers for $100 an hour?
Love the remarks on DIY projects. They have their ups and downs, that's for sure. I was recently looking at fake windows on UA-cam and yours faked out the rest. Great job!
I love the "Meticulous Hack" idea. Agreed wholeheartedly of paying a professional and then their idea of "Professional" is 100 times worse than anything I would of done. How many times do I have to learn that lesson. Thank you for sharing your sanity.
This is the most genius thing I’ve ever seen. Fabulous!
Dude u funny as F. I will watch the ending of this video nightly before prayers.
Another great video. After watching your toilet repair videos I had to watch this one. I love your commentary. And I am sure you understand Murphy's law well. It seems my projects always go more smoothly in my imagination than they do in real life. I always think I have anticipated everything that could go wrong, and then discover how poorly I anticipate how long a project will take, and all the new problems that I uncover after starting.
Yeah, projects man. They make you crazy, but somehow keep you sane.
You definitely inspired me to try this. I'll take your advice on skipping out on the cement counter attempt although it looks good.
This is so cool. Your videos are fantastic Marty!
😂. Loved the video, great great ideas, and low cost the best! I think you are funny and talented!!
Entertaining, the commentary at the end of your videos is spot on. Love it.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
This is an amazing and creative idea. Thank you!!!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Marty, this was so entertaining to watch! I love your videos. Please post more, you have some fans out there.
Working on it. Thanks.
amazing now imagine you hook it up to security footage! Love the idea!
Brilliant , thank you
Cool idea 💡
Fantastic. Thanks for the video.x❤
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Marty, I enjoyed your video very much, and also watched the one about seating the toilet with a new flange seal.
You are very interesting, and sarcastically funny , keep up the good work!
Glad you liked it. Not a big audience for this one. Thanks for watching.
Awesome ❣❣
This is a great idea for someone with a small apartment kitchen with no window! You're pretty funny too! Great video! Cool hack!
Exactly my problem, not enough windows. Thanks for taking a look.
Hahahaha!! "Your not gonna do it" 😂
Man, you’re honestly hilarious. I love your videos
I appreciate you watching them. Thanks
More videos PLEASE! I will watch anything you post.
Love your vids sir. Yiu ate absolutely correct. Most people are pigs for sure. I also started doing everything myself after seeing the worj that some "professionals" do.
Omg. I say that all the time about ppl being pigs. (Not all ppl of course just the ones that are). I worked retail and also restaurant industry for decades and well it's just 100% accurate. What some ppl do in a dressing room.....oh man
after searching, this is exactly what I was looking for. thank you
There are many ways to do this, but if you have any questions along the way just post them here and I'll answer the best I can.
Loved this Video. 👏
👂I guess I must be in the ether listening 👂
I like it. Looking to do basically the same thing but I am going to try something like a space window looking out at space.
Love it. That's a great idea.
Oh and I’m subscribing right now !!
LOL I love your humor at the end! I was laughing so hard. Burn ward!
Thanks for watching all the way through, heh heh. I'll be posting more how-to's, but lately I've been gearing up to start posting Italian recipe videos (called Pasta Guy), so I haven't had the time for much else. Anyway, thanks again.
😍amazing. Yes
Great idea, and inventive with how you set it up, with the power button and it looks like a real window. This is great for people who are stuck in some basement or place that has no windows, and there are places that have no windows.....but this is a great idea to make one feel like it's a window, I like rainy storm videos on youtube, they are 10 hours long and some have country sounds or wind chimes, you name it, there is a storm for you! Then there are also beach videos of the waves and the sun, it's beautiful and relaxing to have on your tv. On your's it would look like you lived on the beach! I like that.
They wouldn't play right on my setup because those are shot as horizontal videos. There were probably more practical ways I could have played video on my window, but this is the only way I could figure out to do it at the time. Thanks for watching.
@@MartyPollio It was great how you set it up, it wasn't a big space and no tv would fit horizontally so I get why you did it that way. Perhaps if you projected from a tablet, and flipped the video like the tv perhaps that would work? I don't know, never tried to cast video onto tv but you can do it from phones and tablets now. Technology...so crazy how much it's changed.
@@iamyourmuse The problem with doing it that way is that if you flip a horizontal video to play vertically on your phone or tablet, it plays as a small horizontal sliver. Most short videos are shot vertically, so those should play fine on my setup.
@@MartyPollio Well, maybe you can shoot some footage vertically of the horizontal footage and loop it and have a full screen appearance as a window like the projected one. Could work.
@iamyourmuse I think I'll try it with a fireplace. A raging fire outside my window could add a little flare to the room.
I was listening to you describe the level of suffering one would have to endure by building her own counter tops. I have instead opted for the burn ward. 😂
Definitely do not choose the burn ward. I may have overstated the suffering of the counter tops.
So what's behind that wall?
Lol you're the Woody Allen of DIY. The window is cool.
great ideal. Im going to do this with a live 4k tv and 4k camera for a live view
That's a great idea. I'd love to know how it works out. Good luck with it. You can always make the window horizontal if that makes the video transfer easier.
You really cracked me up at the end! I enjoyed this video But it got me to wondering how long a TV will work when it's on its side!
@heard3879 I've been using the TV like that for about 6 years. Solid-state electronics, there is no up, down or sideways. Pretty much like your phone only you can't drop it.
It's kinda hot you can do that stuff 😁 I watched a few of your toilet install video's too. I just bought a new toilet. Gonna tackle it myself. Maybe get my daughter to sit on it while I'm screwing it down. We'll see!
A plumber once told me, You wanna make a woman happy - fix her toilet. BTW, you can screw that toilet down without anybody sitting on it. It won't go anywhere.
@@MartyPollio I'm pretty good at fixing stuff inside the tank, but never replaced a toilet or a flange/seal.
@@spongedebfatpants1308 Be careful with your back.
@@MartyPollio Maybe I should get a youngin' to do it 😂
It would be way more effort, but i wonder if it would be possible to hook up a webcam or something to track the head of the person looking at it, so you could shift perspective
There's a company that makes something like. It's a tracker that you keep in your pocket. As you walk around the room it changes the perspective. Super expensive though.
Have a surveillance voip-camera outside the house and have a windowless window to a view you could have.. :D
If you don't mind the image looking like video, that's a great idea. Those cameras are usually such horrible quality. Even the ones that are 4k look like surveillance footage.
LOL....nah....I like doing it myself. Like to learn how to do things for myself.
how did you mixx the cement just Portland ? & sand 1 to 3 part sand will that work I am doing the same thing only different
@johnbowers8388 It was Surecrete glass fiber reinforced terrazzo mix. I mixed it with glass chips. I didn't put any sand in it.
@@MartyPollio I am pouring a bout 1 1/2 2 by 2 pad to raise the toilet some think that wood work ?
@@johnbowers8388 I'm not the right person to answer that question. I struggle with plumbing work.
@@MartyPollio thanks I like that countertop
Can we get an update please? Did u switched it like u said u was
No, not yet. The window has been useful - I've been using it in the background of my recipe videos (channel name: Marty the pasta guy).
I think I want to do this with a lenticular screen or volumetric display.
That's a cool idea. I'd like to see what that looks like.
Your not in your mom's basement. Are you.
Your great and a good teacher
Good project for a basement though. Thanks
DIY Woody Allen?
Ima do it!!!!
That's great. Lemme know if there's any way I can help. Here or Facebook.
...also, making the window horizontal would save you a lot of trouble and simplify the video process.
Could you watch netflix while doing the dishes?
Originally, I tried mounting it one a lazy susan (behind it, on the wall), so I could turn it horizontally and use it as a TV. It didn't work out. I think there is a way that Windows will let you watch a video in a small window when the TV is on its side though.
You could run themed videos. If Trump runs in 2024 then 🔥?
♥️
Nooooo. Love the video feed but why not change the video to be fall and winter themed. No need to film the traffic just to be "realistic". Ikea has a bunch of these fake windows without video and they are why I'm here. I need these in my cave of a expensive apartment!!
this gentleman is getting confused between harware compatibitility and sortware compatibility, clearly not tech savy ^_^
I think of myself as being pretty damn tech savvy, so explain your comment please.
