I loved him when he was in Detroit. Now that I've learned about his life, I love him even more. Van Earl, if you read this, God bless you, my friend.

Van Earl - You sir are without question, one of the greatest sportscasters of all time. You were the primary reason I tuned into CNN Headline Sports. As a lifelong resident of Detroit, I was pleasantly floored when you joined WDIV. Wow! How did we manage to get the GOAT Van Earl Wright?! 😅 Your traveling to Detroit just for the chance to see Stevie Y hoist the cup speaks volumes about your dedication, loyalty, and integrity. I wish you were still on the air as I would surely be one of your loyal watchers. The industry isn’t the same without you. Best of luck in all your endeavors and THANK YOU for the years of colourful highlights. Every time I say Minnesota or Los Angeles, I do so using your infamous style in homage to you. Godspeed Van Earl! - RDB

Glad Van Earl shared his story. Not easy to air your dirty laundry to the public. Everyone makes bad choices. It is a chance to learn and grow. Good to see him happy and helping others.

Great interview. I admire his willingness to be honest and share his story in recovery and what he’s been up to. Also it’s nice to see someone doing something they love.

Van Earl was always my favourite during the Golden Era of sports at WDIV and CNN, and CNN was the Dream Team of sports broadcasting. Glad to see he'd happy and healthy.

I used to look forward to CNN headline sports twice per hour just to hear his one of a kind unique delivery. I still remember all of his phrases to this day.

Being overseas in the early 90’s, FEN/AFRTS were the only english TV viewing stations we had. I looked forward to CNN sports highlights and CNN late night sports. All the broadcasters were fine. Nobody could touch Van Earl! Van was/is the man! Sucks that he ran into those issues! Good to hear he’s happy. But he needs to be back in broadcasting! C’mon you producers out there!

I remember the nid 1990s, Van Earl Wright on WDIV Sports: "Looook!!!!...At him Goooo!". And his Friday night Nightbeat Sports "Hip Hop Happenin' HighSchool Highlights". Great memories.

Great interview. Van is a legend. I would love to see him return to television if he wanted to, but glad to see he is happy. If I had him for a caddy I would say don't even worry about the caddy stuff, just play by play my round.
