3:29 The two things I remember Van Earl Wright for...."hoopin' at the Clip Joint", and the way he always said, "Los Angeles." It was kind of goofy, but it certainly was memorable.
Scott C I hope you will reply to this even though it’s been five years I remember Van Earl Wright he was the sports anchor at KBMT 12 the ABC affiliate in Beaumont Texas
I came here from Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, a live action cartoon sitcom that ran from 2004 to 2007. Van Earl Wright was one of the two sportscasters that guest starred on Ned’s Declassified as himself. The other is Willie Gault. Anyway, like this 90’s video.
Calling the clippers home court The Clip Joint! I remember in a headline sports clip Andres Gallaraga of Colorado Van Earl said that he hit a bases loaded home run or otherwise known as A GRAND SLAM! The words Grand Slam were very loud!
Yes kids, believe it or not, there was a time when, if you wanted the sports scores, you couldn't just touch an "app" on your "iPhone," -- you had to wait for Headline Sports at 20 past and 10 minutes till -- and it was always a treat when Van.Earl.Wright! was on the set. And yes..."Los Aaaanne Geles" always brought a laugh. Classic entertainer.
Now its just political dribble and not hard news. CNN Sports was a very good department of the channel many greats including Dan Patrick got his big break there.
I used to stay up late to watch Sports Tonight with Van Earl and Vince Cellini. Best sports show ever.
DEEEP! overthewallinleftfield.
