This is to me one of the most underrated game show, it was in a death slot, had this been in a great time slot, I wonder how long this would have lasted.
I agree, but it could've been worse had NBC put the show up against its sister show The NEW $25,000 Pyramid, Kevin O'Connell wouldn't stand a chance against Bandstand KING Dick Clark I use to watch GO at 11:00 A.M. CST on KPLC-TV 7 Lake Charles-Lafayette, LA and then later on CBN afterschool along with Face the Music and Tic Tac Dough and it was later shown on GSN during Dark Period, however, it was never shown on USA Network like its sister shows The Original Chain Reaction, The NEW $25,000 Pyramid and The Original $100,000 Pyramid GO was also the spin-off of The Original Chain Reaction in which the NBC version used this game for a Bonus Round GO aired on NBC Daytime along with $ale of the Century with the late Jim Perry and Lee Menning (who was hostess at the time), Wheel of Fortune with Pat & Vanna, Dream House with Bob Eubanks and Debbie Barlett, The Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour with the late Gene Rayburn and Jon Bauman Go would soon be replaced by another short-lived Game Show Barry & Enright's Hot Potato with the late Bill Cullen and that show would also air in reruns on CBN and GSN and between that, aired in reruns on USA Network and CBN also aired reruns of The Original Chain Reaction with Uncle Bill and the short-lived $50,000 Pyramid with Mr. Clark and that was only vesion to never air in reruns on GSN
@chuckers40 mainly because it dodged both Family Feud's wrath at #1 since it moved a half hour earlier, where it, eventually met its demise 9 months later and (at least in the Eastern and Pacific time zones) The Young & the Restless, which just began its rise as a top 5 soap opera.
I used to get in so much trouble when GO came on. I would turn the TV up and... 🎵"BA DADA DAT DAAA DADADADADADA DAAA DADADADA DAAA..!"🎵 Daddy would be just hollerin' TURNDATDAMNTHANGDOWN!
AWESOME upload, man!! Plus, this episode contains three past and future (then) *"Pyramid"* contestants! Joan Belfontaine was on CBS' *"$10,000 Pyramid"* in late 1973, Rochelle Martinez was on *"The New $25,000 Pyramid"* in 1984, and took home the top prize with *"Hotel's"* Heidi Bohay, and Valerie was a big winner on the syndie *"$100,000 Pyramid"* in early 1988... :-)
Hey, could ya imagine this: Had he not hosted The NEW $25,000 Pyramid, I wonder would Mr. Dick Clark make a great host for this show or probably Geoff Edwards? Uncle Bill Cullen would've done good, but he wouldn't be able to walk due to his Polio
Plus, contestant, Gloria Chavez would go on to become a contestant coordinator for *"The $25,000/$100,000 Pyramid"* a few years after her appearance on "Go!"
We remember CBN very well when we were young when their Cable Network used to air game shows in their lineup back then, and the CBN logo appears at 18:29 on "Go!" as it aired in reruns. Nowadays it is Freeform, and CBN News Channel is now in full time operation 24 hours a day.
I remember CBN very well, I watched Game Show Reruns GO, Tic Tac Dough, Let's Make a Deal, Chain Reaction, Card Sharks, Blockbusters, Hot Potato, BULLSEYE and Treasure Hunt as well as Face the Music & Name That Tune GREAT TIMES!
From the week of 11/14-11/18/83(I think Tuesday 11/15 as Kevin says they've played two games so far in the week) originally. GO! would have a championship team and a challenging team for the first four weeks of the run, then they changed it to having both teams play for the whole week. CBN aired GO! from 9/30/85-8/29/86 for about three cycles as GO! only originally ran for 78 episodes(10/3/83-1/20/84). Gloria CHavez was the name of a contestant coordinator for $100K Pyramid, this could be the same person. She was also a contestant on Pyramid daytime in 1985.
This show was never seen in Detroit, as were so many. The network affiliate here only aired 25% of NBC daytime programming, and only 75% of NBC prime time programming. It was by far the worst network affiliate in the United States since it actually aired so few NBC network shows. If NBC had been smart, their network affiliation should have been revoked and given to a different local station.
NBC probably preferred to be on VHF with preemptions than a full schedule on UHF. WXYZ was an ABC O&O until 1986, and WJBK preempted some CBS programming as well. Obviously CBET was out too. The three independents (I don’t count channel 31 out of Ann Arbor) could only cover so much of the slack.

I MISSED this gameshow in the 80's. It seems pretty COOL. Too bad they don't bring it BACK ;)

@@tnawcwvictoria Super Password is the exception to the rule. It lasted five years on NBC in that Noon timeslot.

Thank you for posting this! Haven't seen this one!

LOL!! Same with me and the opening to "The $100,000 Pyramid!"
This show also aired on Game Show Network in the 90s
I watched it though youtube. Never seen this show but I love this game show.
They also used the sound effect that would also be used during the Winner's Circle rounds on Pyramid.

Detroit lived and in some ways still live in a bubble

I remember I hugged Gloria Newllkirk.
Purple set?
I didn't have much hope in the final round considering how these teams performed in the front game.
Why would you say Excuse Me when you Apologize?
I think the celebrity's name is Charles Siebert not Seaver.
J LDel You're right. I'll correct it. Thanks!

Funny Charlie Sebert.
Good Doctor.
Announcer Johnny Gilbert.
I'm amazed that cock-a-doodle-doo, forty-two, etc are considered one word whereas one hundred is not. I think they are all more than 1 word
Q: Where is Auschwitz?
A: Germany
They were lucky to get that. Auschwitz is in Poland. Also: a concentration camp, seriously?
