NBC never gave this show a proper chance. It's a fantastic game. When my best friend from college and his wife -- two superb game players -- invited me to their home in California one time, I made up cards to play this game, and they kept asking to play it every time I visited. A lot of laughs and a lot of fun! Thanks, Bob Stewart, R.I.P.
At fun job 18Univeral Stuidos(Disney18)brung back GO & its a hit been going on now for 5 years now. Jackpot of $25,000 clean sweep teams play for whole $25,000 but if not winning team gets to play for $15,000 & other team plays for $10,000. Its very fun.
What a fun episode! This is only the second episode I've seen where $20,000 was won (the first time I saw it happen was with Shelley Smith), and what a great team too! GO is one of the most underrated game shows in history!
Wow, this definately was a pressure-filled game. Bob Stewart knew exactly what he was doing when he made this game (born from the first bonus round of Chain Reaction).
It is back at my fun job on tv at 18Univeral Studios(Disney18). Been 5 years now its going good. A chance to win $25,000 now. Just like before a sweep the team plays 2 bonus rounds, but if not the other team plays for $10,000 winners play for $15,000. In a sweep play for $10,000 first then $15,000 but you got 45 seconds to it in.

i was so sick when i saw the timeslot that this show was given, even in Los Angeles. It was pre-empted SO many times, it's no wonder it was canceled. It was too bad, too, because the theme song is catchy and the game is fast and creative -- and i loved Kevin O'Connell in this before he ended up moving to Buffalo. Miss you Kevin!!
It went well before it's time. I used to hope they would have a special week with 8 college aged students. 4 guys on the blue team, 4 girls on the red. Each girl on the red squad being a sister of a member of the blue. And for the captains, staying with their teams all week instead of rotating, Nancy Mckeon on the red, Phil Mckeon on the blue. Now that would have been something.
In fact it was against neither of them, it actually suffered a worse fate than that - being placed in the 12 noon death slot, leading to a torrent of pre-emptions for local news.
Fact: Richard Gilliland is married to Jean Smart who once co-starred with the late Lynn Redgrave on the NBC Comedy Teachers Only Produced by Johnny Carson's Carson Productions and was Videotaped at NBC Studios Burbank, CA the home to GO, Chain Reaction, Wheel of Fortune, Amen, Santa Barbara, Days of Our Lives, The Tonight Show with Carson and Leno and the Final 3 Seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with Daphne Maxwell Reid as The NEW Aunt Viv
They really let them get away with murder on some of the questions that weren't considered invalid. But they knew what they were allowed to do apparently, and boy did they get paid!
Kevin O'Connell's one and only game show that actually hit the airwaves. ("Keynotes" was distributed internationally, but did not attempt a version in the United States. Not so sure how "Money in the Blank" would have done, though.)
Channel 4 in Detroit never aired this back in the day, you had to tune in to ch. 13 in Toledo to pick it up. Reruns were seen on CBN and USA network thru the mid to late 80's however. I liked how the whole set changed sides for the bonus round.

Family Feud wasn't an NBC game show, although some syndicated channels carried Family Feud when ABC had scheduling conflicts in its final two seasons. Sale of the Century, Dream House, and Wheel of Fortune were the powerhouse daytime game shows of NBC during 1983.

Richard Gilliland also appeared on $25K Pyramid with Didi Conn during Thanksgiving week. I believe he was billed as being from "Just Our Luck" during that week as well. This was, of course, before he had a recurring role on "Designing Women".

NBC could've had this and "Hot Potato" in '84. 🥔 The "Match/Squares" hour could've done us a favor.
If FOX were in existence,FOX would have bought this from NBC.

I agree, I loved it as well
I liked this show.
There's something very aesthetically pleasing about the phrase "stop the clock." It's another reason I love that British show, The Chase.
Why this show didn't last is beyond me. This was a great game.
Michael Holman Sadly, poor ratings resulted in its cancellation... Because it aired in a “death time slot” (12:00 Noon)
If Get Rich Quick couldn't last past a pilot, I can see why this was a 13 weeker.
@@wschmrdr Hot Potato replaced it on NBC, which lasted 6mos, than later came Super Password.
Aired On NBC Daytime In 1983.
Thank goodness the questions don't have to make sense, be grammatically correct, or even be correct at all.
Compared to shows where even adding or removing a "the" from a title or phrase is enough to disqualify an answer...I like the Go method way better.
I remember one time someone overloaded the clock. The buzzer went off once the clock hit 99 seconds.
By the way, host Kevin O'Connell was a weatherman in LA at the time he did GO. He still does the weather for WGRZ-TV in his hometown of Buffalo, NY.
@NEPatriot - you probably know this, but everyone else Kevin STILL does the weather in Buffalo.
