@brunopiadista3338 We always played where all money collected from income and luxury tax was placed aside and given to anyone who landed on Free Parking. Not an official Monopoly rule, but it is an improvement.
With the absurdity of this format and all of the tape glitches, not to mention the random Lorimar logo and slowly zooming in text during the intro, this whole thing is just slightly creepy 😬
After watching this, I found that this game is played the exact same way as the final round of the Monopoly game show on ABC, but instead of extra Go To Jail spaces, the stoppers are hotels.
The Artist Formerly Known As Rich Uncle Pennybags is running on the board backwards in the intro! Just like that NBC News intro from about this same time that had the Earth spinning the wrong way!!
Produced by the same company who made the "Babble" Pilot. You know, come to think of it, did this company ever produce a game show that became a series?
I’m assuming this is Maggie Speak, with a career as producer of Jeopardy, producer from Sony Pictures, contestant producer and contestant coordinator. Why is she a contestant on a show?
@@jerryharris876 yeah it is a fake number but some states and cities are taking it now think lol but yeah but he did mention at the begin the state of Calif. at the beginging
@@duanegunn611 This was likely a game show pilot in which the producers attempt to present the concept to either networks or syndicators. This is actually a common practice with new concept game shows.
More than a decade later, Pepsi hosted an annual game show (3 times it aired) which to this day had the highest cash prize in TV history, $1 Billion.
I think it only aired twice, but yes it is still the highest cash prize ever offered on a US game show.
"And this brand nnNNEEEWUuww car!"
Rick fn Dees, i remember him on the radio for the top 40 countdowns on sundays
I wonder what would happen if the player landed on "Income Tax", "Luxury Tax", "Just Visiting" and "Free Parking"
@brunopiadista3338 We always played where all money collected from income and luxury tax was placed aside and given to anyone who landed on Free Parking. Not an official Monopoly rule, but it is an improvement.
Rick Dees dressing up with Steve Winwood's hair.
10:04 - You landed on the hotel property. You lost!

The Lorimar logo isn’t creepy, but still calming.
it’s like the monopoly game show before monopoly game show
Six years before.
He fails to mention go to jail as a possibility
I remember call-in game shows, dating back to "Dialing For Dollars".
0:00 is the Lorimar logo which were taken from “Dallas”, “Eight Is Enough”, and other shows.
Considering the 555 phone number, I'm honestly not sure if this was supposed to be a really long/bad comedy sketch or not.
a pilot maybe?
yeah I'm not sure but I think this really show it looks like one of those reality shows that they have after midnight lol
cause i don't remember the host did give the area code then the number
no, it was a pilot game those calls in for dollars game show they had at night or in wee hours lol cause i remember the board game
I put my hands on the TV... stone cold.
After watching this, I found that this game is played the exact same way as the final round of the Monopoly game show on ABC, but instead of extra Go To Jail spaces, the stoppers are hotels.
I'm having an extremely hard time deciphering if this is real or not
Rick Dees was with KIIS FM.
Would this be some kind of pilot show?
Kevin Bacon is a really good actor. It was cool to see Wilt Chamberlain too.
i don't remember seeing this on tv of course i was 9 or 10 years old
I couldn't play this because there's no car. And I'm always the car.
Me neither, I always take the battleship.
The Artist Formerly Known As Rich Uncle Pennybags is running on the board backwards in the intro! Just like that NBC News intro from about this same time that had the Earth spinning the wrong way!!
16:17 - YOU WON! You passed GO!
They are giving away turkeys? Are they giving away Rick's jokes too in case they run out?
@17:30… So E.T. Drinks Pepsi when Mac drinks Coca-cola…
Another short lived game show. Whoa there cowboy!
First Land on a hotel and SPLAT! Pennybags gets pounded by an iron! Ouch!
22:27 - It's GO TO JAIL....... OH NO.
Well...this exists.
Johnny Olson cameo at 5:07! :)
is that Charlie O Donnell announcing
Sounds like him to me! Coincidentally, he also announced the 1990 show with Mike Reilly as host.
@@andrewschroy6368 he did lots of shows as announce before he did wheel of fortune
Adventurous music @ 17:36
This was a sample test program. If fails completely. Not one to put on your resume.
The ABC-TV summer series was WAAAAAY BETTER.
I could definitely tell this was a local show.
Aha! No wonder I don't remember this.
16:47 Cash winner of $850
16:41 Can you take *FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS!?!*
A failed pilot actually... 555 isn't a real phone number.
Produced by the same company who made the "Babble" Pilot. You know, come to think of it, did this company ever produce a game show that became a series?
Nope
Rick Dees nuts
Omg is this real or fake
I’m assuming this is Maggie Speak, with a career as producer of Jeopardy, producer from Sony Pictures, contestant producer and contestant coordinator. Why is she a contestant on a show?
Likely a failed pilot.
It's a 555 number... aka a fake number.
@@jerryharris876 yeah it is a fake number but some states and cities are taking it now think
lol but yeah but he did mention at the begin the state of Calif. at the beginging
Likely a run-through.
This was a phone in game show.
22:26 the "Go to Jail" is also out of the game too. The hotel is about the same as "go directly to jail."
It wasn't... 555 isn't a real number.
I remember I have seen them in the 1990s and 2000s but not in the '80s in Canada and the USA
@@plushbatfan he did he mention the go to jail at the beginning? I could hear it
did he? imeant
was this before or after his stint on solid gold
(checks) Just months before his SG stint.

I'm guessing this was a test or pilot?
I think so there was a similar game show in the late 89's till 1990
Pepsi Cola in the USA must of done of contest or somthing
Is this a comedy sketch?
Is this the only game show Rick Dees hosted?
you can check out www.wikipedia.org to find out more
This was a complete farce. The callers all sounded the same and like actors. The pics were ridiculously staged.
Yep. it was a test promo sort of thing.
It was. 555 isn't a real phone number.
@@jerryharris876 so what did they do the actors in the show we're calling pretending to be contestants? I'm confused

Lame and as fake as this show seems to be, this show makes me feel cozy and safe!!!!!!!
Rick Dees is obnoxious. He’s like the Ryan Seacrest of the 1970s. No wonder this show failed.
More rigged than a rigger on a rigging plant rigging a rig ;)
555...sounds fake
Wtf is this
