Yep just lay the steering column on the seat and pull the dash back I always use ratchet straps to roll bar to hold dash back. Much easier then taking steering column out and completely removing dash. Still not a fun job, good luck hope you don’t have any rusty bolts on outside of firewall. I had 3 I had to split the nut very carefully with my dremmel tool, not fun but I won.
@@rzrpap I'll let you know did you go with replacement parts from RockAuto or another source? I always hesitate when the OEM stops making parts and trusting aftermarket.
I am an old retired auto repair shop owner I know how you feel about OEM. I still buy from my local auto parts guys I bought from for over 50 years old habits die hard.
A mechanic that worked on my jeep before said he wouldn't replace my heater core because he didn't have time to mess with it,I guess I'll have to tackle it myself..😬
There are many good videos on how to do it step by step, I just wanted to show you don’t have to pull the steering column. Just lay it on the drivers seat and you can pull the dash back to pull the heater box. Saves a lot of time when you don’t pull the steering column and just pull dash back I used ratchet straps from roll bar to dash. Time consuming job just take your time and be patient and you will be fine.
I'm 28 and do stuff the oldschool way , was always taught by the older generations , thanks for the video and beautiful jeep !
Thank you, it is so refreshing for an old guy to know there are still young people that think like you.
Fixing to have to do this on a LJR, thanks for showing it can be done. I despise having to rip the dash for this part.

Most cores that are plugged are full of casting sand and from the engine when manufactured. Like the 3.6 Poor quality
Yep, they got rid of one of the most durable engines ever made and replaced it with junk. Just an old guys opinion.
