    Tried vinegar in my '01 4Runner, it did okay but CLR worked way better. Also I think flushing it out both directions helped also. But yeah this weekend was a bad weekend to figure out my heat sucks lol.

    14 degrees Celsius is a breeze!
    I mean, who knew we ordered a snow party at this cozy temperature? Snowflakes just can't resist a good time! 😄❄

    Some people use a small mini pump you can get online or at Lowes. Put the pump in a bucket of vinegar or CLR and connect the pump to circulate through the heater core and back into the bucket for a period of time to dissolve deposits in the core. The Honda dealership had to do that to my wife's CRV.

    Last weekend we dipped down to -40C/-40F for a few days in Alberta. The battery in the '18 Powerwagon got so weak it froze. And I knew better to keep the charge up. But when it's that cold, a middle aged guy tries to limit his time outside. -20c/-4F at 5:30 AM. Time to take my pup to the dog park to play with her little group of friends ang burn off energy. I'll have to do some research. Back in the 90's we used to mix baking soda with something else to flush out the cooling systems on the Detroit Diesel engines for service rig equipment.

    never tried it in a vehicle , but 50/50 white vinegar/peroxide works much better than just vinegar on mineral deposits on faucet aerators , drinking glasses , etc .

    Heat only comes out of passenger side on 2012 Jeep Liberty. Already watched one that used CLR. I think using vinegar is a beetter solution which I will try as soon as it warms up outside.

      Vinegar isn’t as caustic, which may make it less effective depending on the amount of calcification in the core.

      My wife's 2012 jeep liberty has the same problem, no heat on the drivers side and very low on the passenger side. I tried the clr technique and it got hotter on the passenger side but still cold on the driver side. Did you have success with yours? If so, what technique did you use?

    I've seen a video on South main autos channel. He uses a 5 gallon pail a circulator pump and CLR and probably 2 10 foot heater hoses. He pours a gallon of CLR into the pail, plus about a gallon of 2 of water. Run the hoses from the heater core to the pail put the circulator pump to the other side of the core. Probably best to push the CLR through the heater core. And let it circulate for 30 minutes or so.
    It seemed to work great on the older Chrysler he was working on.

    To clean the heating radiator, instead of vinegar, I used 3 tablets for the dishwasher, dissolved in hot water and it cleaned excellently.

    This video gives me some ideas how to fix my low heat problem on my ‘12 Chrysler 200 Touring convertible. Those model years 2011-2014 have the problem of no heat on the passenger side of the interior. I recently did a tune up on my Pentastar engine and was able to identify my heater hoses and was able to tell normal direction of engine coolant flow. I’m going to try the vinegar idea with a couple of buckets and a circulating pump with lower pressure and reverse flowing through the core to see if that is the fix for my car.

      It helped a little but took 2-3 more tries not shown on camera

    The engine makes a lot more heat on the freeway.

    • @moparconnection
      @moparconnection  Рік тому +1

      Coolant temp stays very consistent whether on the freeway or around town. The difference is the speed of flow that the water pump makes at higher rpm.

    I just bought a 2008 jeep this summer. The guy said he put a new heater core in. In the summer it over heated when i had the ac on. Now that its cold i turned the heat on and no heat! The seller womt reply to me. Im so upset. My.wiper fluid isnt coming.out either. Do you think theyre clogged? Thank you

    • @Shannon-
      @Shannon- 2 місяці тому

      Oh yeah there's a weird sound on the passenger side vent when I turn on the ac or heat. Don't know what it is? Sounds like something stuck in the vent?

    • @moparconnection
      @moparconnection  2 місяці тому +1

      Yup, you’re gonna have to troubleshoot your heating system. Start with a fresh thermostat and work from there.

      As per wiper, can the lines be frozen? Is there fluid?
      If checks good, check fuse for wiper pump?
      If good, check if pump is working.. is there power voltage to the pump?
      If good, maybe you need a pump replacement.

      @malibuman8941 Hi yes there's fluid my back window wiper sprays and works. My driver side sprayer was working now both don't work. Thank you ill test them

      Exactly! We had to go down the checklist of what it wasn’t before deciding on flushing it.

      Are those hard to replace?

  • @erikweisz299
    @erikweisz299 2 місяці тому +1

    So since it obviously didn't come from the factory like that, there's clearly a problem. Is the heater core bad, or is the water pump bad?

    • @moparconnection
      @moparconnection  2 місяці тому

      These cores corrode. It happens (unfortunately, faster than others).

    • @erikweisz299
      @erikweisz299 2 місяці тому

      @moparconnection so its the actual heater core then that's the issue. I was hoping for the water pump.

    Household 5% Vinegar is 5% acetic acid and 95% water....its absolutely terrible for trying to quickly descale things. Lowes/HD both sell 30% cleaning vinegar which is MUCH better. CLR is the best for doing this because there's Honda TSB's that actually recommend using it.

I have a 2008 merc milan v 6 premiere , blows cold air , a shop last spring flushed radiator , over fill , changed thermostat , said they tried flushing my H . Core to no avail . I would need a full h. Core job $ 1200 , i didnt trust them and did not have it done . I cant seem to locate my 2 hoses on the firewall even watching tons of videos on similar cars , can i take hoses off from similar position u did and use hose to flush with out blowing . ?
