I love this! I've been contemplating a change in my major and I keep coming back to public health, social work and education but worry that I will become emotionally invested to an unhealthy degree and get burned out! I got my bachelor's in English Education I absolutely hate English and Im dyslexic I like writing I did my teaching training I enjoyed it but I remember being soo tired and stressed all the time. I liked working with the students but hated doing all of the lesson plans and paperwork and preparing everything the night before I was to teach my class the next day. I love art and music and I have been yearning to get back into my passions again and look for a job related to that but my dad wants me to just teach English in a school and to forget about art and music.

If recreational activities are available near you, sign up for a class. Test it out, you might find that thing you're good at and really love!!! By class, I mean painting, singing, pottery, dance, swimming, literally anything that will teach you something new.
I've always heard the question, if you had a million dollar trust fund and money wasn't an issue, what would you do with your time? That's your thing(s)!!! Go do it!!! 🙂
      I hope this helps.

@@TheAlchemist1089 username checks out - you turn data into gold lol - jokes aside - how do you manage to maintain focus when learning math and whatever other abstract concepts there are in data science without losing it? I for instance find deep learning very interesting and programming and training a program to do all sorts of things would be awesome because I would be able to see immediate results - it's just that I have to get through math first. Regardless of where I look careerwise, math is always some sort of gatekeeper, an obstacle I cannot seem to overcome, thanks to my teachers. Not that I don't find it intersting, it's just dauting because I have gaps in my math and the thought of going through eeeeeverything over again just to forget it couple of months later is really demotivating. Otherwise I would've thrown myself into this math-battle.

Adhd is a curse, by the time we know what we want, we are too old to start school therefore getting stuck in simple jobs never being able to become a teacher or healthcare or media job that requires experience and schooling wich we can't do anymore.
Options are only there in and before your 20's.
Good luck changing from forklift to teaching in your 30's
Im 38 and have no clue or option to go learn an adhd job, being stuck in a ,,jack of all trades, master of none,, depression and I can't and don't want to live on the government check.
So I'll get a simple courier job again because I can't go to school but simple jobs make me depressed. What to do??

There are a lot of degrees online nowadays where you can get the degree at your own pace. Yes, many careers want experience when you first start but you can also put your transferable skills on your resume. It takes hard work to learn any new career and time to gain experience. I would evaluate your skill set and what you enjoy. If you were a forklift operator and worked in an inventory environment, maybe get an online degree in inventory management? Using your skills, knowledge and experience in the field, and the degree would get you in the door. Thats just an example. Good luck!

@@BeautifulSafety I understand what you are saying, I am the same. My whole life has been a battle to find the "perfect" career, often I think I will die of old age before I do. I have had many jobs in the past in many different fields. I too believe that ADHD is a curse. I am constantly working my arse off everyday to try and change my thinking about my adhd and see my strenthgs and weakniess, however it is hard to do so when you live with ADHD in a world that was build for people without ADHD. I realise their are lots of study options online nowdays, however, when you have ADHD you are wired differently, I know perosnally for me, I cannot cope with a full time study load at all, which means that I would need to study part time and some degrees this could mean studying for like 8+ years, which is not possible. Also, I am strong beleiver if you are going to study, it needs to be something sustainable that has at least decent career and job prospects - there is no point studying something that leads no where.

I guess the best way to approach this is to try out as many different things as you can to see what your strengths are and what you truly enjoy doing and if it's something people are willing to pay for. You may start exploring these options through volunteering or trying it first as a hobby/side business to see how feasible that is before making any important decisions. Best of luck!
