How the World's Tiniest Desk Created the World's Most Freakish AWPer

  • In every game, there are mavericks - players who have their own signature way of doing things. Ridiculous oddballs and ingenious innovators who make us question everything we know about the games we love.
    But Özgür “w0xic” Eker, a talented Turkish AWPer plays CS:GO in a nearly-unbelievable way. And despite the ridicule he receives for his unconventional approach to Counter-Strike, he's emerged as one of the scene's fastest rising stars.

      Ehm... yesterday a friend made me install Valorant so I did and jumped into the tutorial. I decided to set the sensitivity a bit lower than usual cause I don't need to react or turn around as fast as in Overwatch. I felt comfortable at 5.0 sensitivity. I have a Logitech M705 Marathon which has 1000 DPI listed. Am I doing something wrong while calculating my eDPI or is it at 5000??

      @5JSX5 3 роки тому +26

      I play with 8000 DPI 0.2 ingame sens for an edpi of 1600. You gotta have your dpi as high as possible for smoothness and no pixel skipping. I went from 2700 dpi to 8000 and i could feel the difference in smoothness, it's great imo. But I think there's no point in going over 10k dpi, pixel skipping disappears way earlier. And it's not like I actually changed my effective sensitivity. It stayed at the same cm/360, just with more dpi less ingame sens.

    This reminds me of a documentary I saw where [NC]Yellow described how he had such high APM. As a teenager, he was not allowed to play Starcraft, and was instead told by his parents to focus on his studies. So he would have to play in the middle of the night after his parents had gone to sleep. He credited his high APM to his light touch, which he called his "secret skill". He had to press very lightly on the keyboard while playing to avoid waking his parents, so he mastered quickly tapping the keys very lightly, which increased his APM. Trying to avoid a literal caning from his parents while playing is what made him into a top tier pro.

      Eh, we do adapt, but that doesnt mean one setting isnt better for some things than the other. If that was the case, i could say that it doesnt matter if you have a glock or awp, it only matters how well you have adapted to using that weapon. Thats obviously not the case.

      Also almost every pro plays on 4:3, everyone who tried switching from 16:9 including me instantly recognizes its like an easy mode. There might be a few rare pros that play on 16:9 but that doesnt mean the aspect ratio is irrelevant. More likely than not the 16:9 guys are just so good that they can hang with the rest even when theyre not playing on easy mode. They would probably play even better on 4:3.

      @sEaNoYeAh 3 роки тому +1

      Wrist aim f*cking up your wrist is basically a myth. Only bad technique and bad habits f*ck you up, and that applies to all aim styles. Occasionally you get hardcore low sens players getting chronic tennis elbow, or shoulder problems. It's nothing to do with their style, it's their unhealthy technique that's the problem.
      Gamers, no matter how you play: -Take breaks
      -Don't tense your grip, that way carpal tunnel lies
      -Stay hydrated
      -Stretch regularly (you have time between games, between rounds)
      -If something is uncomfortable, change it
      -If something hurts, stop now.
      -For wrist aim specifically, never go beyond the comfortable movement range of your wrist
      Plenty of musicians use their wrists heavily and still have 60 year careers. Ever see a shred guitarist pick from the wrist? Small movements back and forth for hours and a lot of these guys are old men now but aren't injured, and have that dexterity still.
      Hiko's never had a wrist injury of any kind and he's 30. Look at his technique, you can see how lightly he holds the mouse, how his wrist doesn't move to any extreme angle. Totally comfortable, totally safe.

    • @ALittleMessi
      @ALittleMessi 3 роки тому

      @@sEaNoYeAh This is a really bad take tbh. CAN you get away with fully wrist aiming? Sure. However your evidence is heavily biased. Guitar players and other musicians don't have the exact same pattern of use that gamers do. Their movements are generally more flowing, not stopping on a dime and then swinging the other direction. Time is also an important factor. The amount of rapid mouse movements you make in a minute is more than almost any song would require. Expand this over 8-12 hours a day for some people, and you are putting a lot of tension in your wrist. Taking this to the pro level where literally all that matters is winning, and that's when you get the major problems. Doctors and sports specialists have all shown the research done, but I'll trust some guy on youtube saying it's a myth because one 30 year old didn't absolutely explode his tendons

    I started out on a tiny desk and used 800 DPI with 3 in game sens. 20 years later I'm down to 1.9 sens at 400 DPI and playing better and more consistently. Arm movements help, especially with longevity, and having a bit of wiggle room with the flicks makes it easier to play consistently. Hats off to anyone who can use a high eDPI later in their career with success and consistency. That's special for sure.

    For all the silvers out there using a high sensitivity, keep going! I have a eDPI of 2400 (3 sens and 800 dpi) and am LEM/Supreme. It is clear that in a slow-paced game like CS it is preferable to have a low sens, as precision is key. But if you manage to master this sensitivity I feel like your maximum potential increases, as you can be more versatile in clutch situations or with snipers.
