Nice kitchen. 👍 Just found this and will sub. 🙂 Ah yes. The Jennings, 22lr. I owned 2 of them. Both nice and shiny. Im pretty sure ive invented new "choice" words for that piece of...junk... Got rid of both of them. They werent even good enough to be used as paper weights!
@Espresso_with_Saul I was 22 at the time. And got my tax refund. The gun dealer had 2 of them. They at the time, were $100 each. So, not knowing anything about them, I bought both. Didn't really have good internet services available in the small town I grew up in. (Ohio) So yeah, young, dumb, clueless. Learned the hard way!
My first job was setting up/assembling new lawnmowers for John Deere, we often got called down to Lowes to setup 20-30 at a time. My buddy Matt and I typically would take an old Chevy box truck, it was full of tools and parts for servicing lawnmowers. Most of the stuff was just halfhazardly strewn around on the benches in the truck or in milk crates on the floor. Well, one time on our way to Lowes, a car in front of us jacked its brakes trying to make an exit. Long story short, the tools and inventory in the back all made its way to the front...rather violently. It took us more time to rearrange everything then it did to set up those lawnmowers. That was one of those white knuckle gripping a seat with no seatbelt moments.
Some context for the prices. $6.50 in 1988 was worth $17 in 2023. $59 in 1988 would cost $154.35 in 2023. Those Jennings .22 are a pile of crap. I inherited one years ago and I could get maybe one shot off before it jammed. Took it to a gunsmith and it still jammed. Gave it to a gun buyback program after the gun burned my hand with hot gas. Got $100 for it, hopefully they slagged that pile of crap, hate to think it went overseas or across the boarder. Because whoever tries to use it in a real shooting will be dead.
Thank you for sharing, Saul! Congratulations on the birth of your grandchild!
