This was created & released during COVID . . . . so they all worked on their parts individually and stayed in their homes, adding to it and putting it together. CRAZY.

Mesmerizing is a good description of their version of this song. So hauntingly beautiful, especially Mitch's lead. Matt also did an amazing job with his parts.

The original is great but sounds dark and tragic.

Mitch sounds absolutely breathtaking in this. His voice is so beautifully haunting and this song was made for him TBH.

I love what I call Pentatonix's patience songs... those that they take time to develop the harmonies and layer their notes. While they became known for the crazy stuff that they can pull off, this style pulls emotion out of the listener. Watching these 5 (just like watching Home Free) lets us understand how they do what they do....

I'm like Christine, I hear their parts better when I can see them singing it! Thanks for explaining that! PTX is famous for their beautiful blend. This one really showed it. Really beautiful, loved Matt's bass in this.

I can't listen to the words because it makes me cry 😢 I loved Matt's emoting along with his tone.. He does this emotion well.
And I like SEEING their songs when Kevin isn't beatboxing so I can tell when it's him I'm hearing because he has a beautiful falsetto and is often in the higher notes. Even us pentaholics are still getting used to Kevin being in those harmonies and we think we can hear his voice but still need to see the videos to say yes that was Kevin! Just haunting when he was harmonizing during Matt's solo. You reacted the way I did but listen to it with the words a few times and it will make you cry or maybe not because you have a happy relationship. I'm coming out of one that just finally ended that should have ended years ago and that's what this song is about. Those toxic ones just can't let go of that go on and on and on and it still hurts to say goodbye but you know you need to? I'm going to start crying! Pass the tissues!

May the next chapter of your life be full of joy and refreshing change! You are a strong person to push through a situation like that and do what was right for yourself.

Thinking of you during this transition in your life. I get it. I’ve been there. It’s hard to see just how toxic something is when involved, but step away and sadly, it’s clear as a bell.
Finneas, Billie Eilish’s older brother, wrote this for Billie, who is 4 years younger, to sing. How they at such a young age were able to capture and interpret a toxic relationship in a song baffles me. But this song embodies that.
As if the song isn’t heart wrenching enough, we get our favorite PTX vocals backing these powerful words and like you, I’m in puddles. 😭
Stay strong. Know you can now have peace and there is light outside the dark toxicity. I’ll continue to keep you in my thoughts. ❤️

Love this! I definitely agree you can really hear Scott’s range in this and it’s so good!! I always tend to listen particularly for him in songs and I love that he has such a wide range and when he goes high and low in one song!! This is so beautiful! 🥰💙

I recommend to you King Family to listen again to the words. Billie Eilish described the meaning of the song for her in an interview. I would classify this song as a non-Christian confession of original sin.

Love your reactions, my only suggestion is a better sound setup. Very echo-y.

Is my ear fooling me? did i just hear 2 basses, 3 (or 4) tenors, and at least 2 sopranos in this 5 person group?
