I love that look reactors get when they realize Mitch is the guitar. He can do that with and without the megaphone...Other than Freddie of course, this is the best version. this was filed outside. You have got to see the AHA LIVE SINGAPORE STAR VISTA Avi and mitch will blow your minds
The couch was actually an homage to how they started - after they won the Sing Off, they lost their record deal and so went back to making YT videos from their old couch.... so in the video...started on the couch (the trio together and KO and Avi on the sides) went off into the stratosphere ...but then came back to the couch to show that they are still grounded even with all the success. I love how the trio are so close together on the couch at the end before they go back into the 'loungeroom'.To me the whole thing is just perfect. They do this live and it is exactly the same - no layering.
Little known fact, Brian May of Queen saw this video and liked it so much he sent the link to all their fans with the following words: "Best cover of our song I have ever heard. Enjoy." That tells you just how good it is!
PTX said they waited years to cover this song because they wanted to get it "right." They were nervous to cover it, knowing how many diehard fans Queen and Freddy Mercury have worldwide. They wanted to make sure they honored the original, and I think they have. Great reaction! (BTW: I've seen them perform this live. It's just as amazing in concert)!
Yeah, perfection. I heard that Brian May said that this version was excellent. Apparently the megaphone was just a prop and was not needed for the vocal projection.
I was surprised to see you guys hadn't done this yet. Glad you got to it. Mitch does the guitar solo live just as well. There's a great "making of" video for this as well.
This was actually recorded well over a month ago. We had to let it clear through copyright issues. It cleared this morning so we had to go ahead and put it up 😁
💥Remember guys PENTATONIX prides themselves in their craft! They do this LIVE IN CONERTS!! They are ALL AMAZING!! BY FAR GREATEST Acapella group there is. Their status in the music industry, awards and NUMBERS say it all! Avi's bass, Kevin's percussion, The Trio's vocals ALL PERFECTION!!!💥
Your faces on this one!!! I heard them sing this live, just the 5 of them onstage at their concert and it sounded just the same as this to me. The video, the arrangement, the delivery, everything about it was great! They are INCREDIBLE!!!
Listen again and watch Scott during the "let him go" section. He sings with both sides so there are 3 voices on both parts... If you listen close you can hear 3 voices with one clipped short because he switches to the other part. And you can hear him singing a low bass harmony with avi on that side... This still amazes me every time. They sound so much bigger than 5 voices in that part of the song due to that clever use of adding a voice to start and then having him peel off early to come in on the other side... I think you kinda hear it too as they get off the couch and line up.... This part of the song is so complex!
No layering here. Just pure natural harmonies. With the Queen original a lot of dubbing and redubbing was done on the record hence it couldn't be performed live in concerts. Yes, Queen never performed BH live in its entirety. Whenever they get to the Scaramouche part, the band leaves the stage and the music turns to the recorded video. The PTX arrangement was done for the five voices. PTX performs this live all the time.
This is my favorite cover of theirs. Avi and Kevin are frickin’ amazing with the bass and percussion. I also love their cover of John Lennon’s _Imagine._
Y’all should check out the behind the scenes video for Bohemian Rhapsody, it’s awesome. I love this version by Pentatonix so much. I don’t know how many different playlists I have it on, lol, several!
Love it when a reactor catches that classic drum line from Kevin. And of course that Avi Bass. I think the passion from Scott really set this apart. I always look forward to my notification whenever you guys are reacting to another video . Keep the good vibes coming.
We all know how pentatonix loves to put their own touch to everything, but they said they didn’t want to do this cover until they could do the original justice. So I think that they did it so much like the original because they probably thought it would be taking away from the original if they change some things
..Great reaction... & Thx soo much for NOT stopping every minute...BUT next time you listen to it make sure that you use headphones/ earbuds ...then you will really hear what it sounds like ....makes a world of a difference !!!
@@martinhafner2201 I know all about those issues...BIG difference in stopping for copyright...many reactors do...but not literally every 20 sec to talk about .. Great reaction. There is a video out there with Queen running side by side with this video. Other than the "Key" it was sung in, the arrangement was EXACT. Note for note. They didn't want to change a thing. Scott and Mitch talk about doing this song on the Superfruit channel. They were hesitant to even attempt it. But then decided to use the same arrangement. Glad they did. It was amazing.
I loved ur reaction. To the people who replied.....Queen's version is the masterpiece.....but pentatonix's version was the closest by far to the original...and most importantly...no instruments. I bet Freddie Mercury was standing up in his grave applauding the effort by pentatonix to pay homage to an absolute rock-n-roll classic.
Your reactions were on point! Absolutely amazing song! I have never been disappointed in ANYTHING PTX does....I love Havana! They may have their own spin, But amazingly it is right with the original. Come along was fantastic also. But this is iconic and they did perfect!. Funny I never really heard the words before...and PTX has a way of being really clear and you hear every word...but like the song done extremely well. Great reaction! Thanks
They did make a behind the scenes video that you could react to. It’s pretty brief, but it was eye opening. This type of undertaking requires a lot of work and planning.
The sky and stars at the end of the video is a tribute to the fallen members of Queen and Dr Brian May, the Queen guitarist who is an astrophysicist. P.S. Listen with headphines. It even more awesome! Dr May was recently knighted by the King of England.
Lol, your expressions at the big moments. I agree that they did layer their voices sometimes, just as Queen did (Kevin can't sing and beatbox at the same time, for example). Also, Kevin said that in Mitch's "guitar solo," they manipulated his voice to sound electric (but Mitch had to sing those amazing riffs nonetheless). But none of that takes anything away from the fact that this is a marvelous performance. Kevin is brilliant in this arrangement, just brilliant. All of them were, really. Thanks for a great reaction!
😂 Kevin fell off the couch during the making of the video.. but wasn't hurt. They chose to have the couch moving down a road as a metaphor for their beginning (with their couch videos) and how far their career's taken them. In their more recent Evolution videos You'll see they're sitting on a couch just like they did WAY back in the beginning. Ode to the couch! Really fun reaction video! thank you so much. 💖

Mitch does it the most, but many of the members can make their voices sound "electronic". . Queen's version has pre-recorded parts and of course instruments. PTX does not. They did the whole thing without instruments as Mitch's megaphone is just a prop. Yeah, perfection. I heard that Brian May said that this version was excellent. Apparently the megaphone was just a prop and was not needed for the vocal projection.
Mitch with the guitar solo on the megaphone was epic one of my favorite parts of this performance ❕❗
