From the early 1990's Josh Silver was christened "The Silver Surfer" by a UK goth fanbase 😂 The cover of Bloody Kisses: Original Seals And Crofts- "Summer Breeze" (1972) originated gothic metal style: Type O Negative - "Summer Breeze" (1993). Type O Negative's original recording of the track included alternate lyrics, written by Peter Steele, and was retitled "Summer Girl". TON liked to do these cover tracks once per album with the exception of "Dead Again.". Mad Machinery's cover of Sarah McLachlan's "Possession" is frequently, and erroneously, labeled as a Type O Negative song. The overall style is similar, and the vocals sound almost identical. A supposed Cover Version of "Feel Like Making Love" circulated on filesharing - it was actually the original Bad Company version digitally slowed down as a prank, playing off both Peter Steele's low vocals and their tendency to make their cover songs slower and heavier than the originals. "Hey Pete" (a reworded cover of Jimi Hendrix's version of "Hey Joe") on "The Origin Of The Feces". The 1994 reissue also includes a cover of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" as an extra track, which was recorded that year and rejected from the Nativity In Black Tribute album in favour of Type O Negative's version of "Black Sabbath" (which also has an alternate version called "From The Satanic Perspective"). "Cinnamon Girl" (originally by Neil Young ) on October Rust. A medley of The Beatles songs "Day Tripper", "If I Needed Someone" and "I Want You [She's So Heavy]" on World Coming Down."Dear Prudence" and "Magical Mystery Tour" live. "Highway Star" by Deep Purple on Nascar: Crank It Up. "Angry Inch" from Hedwig And The Angry Inch on Life Is Killing Me. A medley of Santana's arrangements of "Evil Ways", "Oye Como Va" and "Black Magic Woman" (all were, in themselves covers) ♫
Love this cover from Type O. Original group was Seals and Crofts, a duo most active in the 70's. The Isley Brothers did a great rock/soul cover of this song in the early 70s also with some great fuzz box guitar from Ernie Isley.
An early version of this cover was called Summer Girl but they had to change it because Seals & Crofts didn't like it. You can find that rare version here on youtube.
Summer Breeze from the Bloody Kisses album followed by Set Me On Fire are such a great combo. Check out Type O Negative doing a cover of the Black Sabbath song Black Sabbath.
Awesome cover. Beginning has indeed a Black Sabbath vibe. Same here
RIP Peter

You must check out another cover by Type O: Black Sabbath (from a satanic perspective) - it's another level.
Was this your first type O song? Pretty good choice to get the idea of what their style was at the peak.
