Your spot on with the meaning, and well done at a young age for seeing that, there are not many Christian groups that do not believe in the ‘personification of a Devil’ most mainstream churches believe the Devil is a man, but when you study Bible truth it becomes clear that the word Devil derives from ‘diablos’ just meaning adversary (mans adverse and sinful thoughts), so yes, what lots of people see as the work of ‘the Devil’ is really just ‘you and me’ as the clever lyrics in this great song allude to. Believing In a Devil is really no different to blame shifting.

The Stones are definitely one of the all-time great classic rock band. These official lyric videos are really well done, but She's A Rainbow is my favorite. It's so trippy and beautiful!
Still one of my favourite bands. The early Rolling Stones where such a rebels. What The Beatles are for Pop music, well The Rolling Stones are for Rock music.

Rock can be mainly for teen and 20s men expressing hopes, fears, etc. The Who are my favourite group but that fits them and Townshend has said as much. The rolling appealed to girls - girls loved the Stones and their guys benefited from Stones warming up their girls!
Welcome to one of the greatest “rabbit holes” in Rock & Roll. The Rolling Stones were, are and always will be one of the most amazing and influential bands in history. It's actually heavily influenced by Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita--a Russian novel where the devil visits the officially atheistic Soviet Union. Jagger’s girlfriend at the time, Marianne Faithfull, recommended the book to him, and the rest is history.

The Rolling Stones have so many classic songs it's ridiculous. And just as many songs that weren't hits, that should have been. I've always loved "Monkey Man", "Daddy You're a Fool to Cry" and "Can't You Hear Me Knocking". And I could go on listing songs and still leave not name them all.

Enjoyed watching both of your reactions. You asked for more Stones suggestions, I highly recommend the following. - "Miss You" "Waiting on a Friend" "Emotional Rescue" "Beast of Burden" and "Wild Horses"
The Rolling Stones are rock excellence, with very varied sounds/vibes. More please! "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", "Brown Sugar", "Wild Horses" SO SO many! Love the intelligence of the lyrics of this song. You are so right; it's about how the "Devil" was there when all these terrible events happened, but of course it was humanity that did those evil deeds.
Music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's was lit! So much fun to watch young people such as yourselves discover this great music that you might never have been exposed to if not for UA-cam. And what a great era to grow up in!
That young lady is always so quietly observant, biting her tongue when "gnome sane" boy opens his rambling cake hole. I enjoy her knowing glances at the camera and I hope better for her.
Sympathy for the Devil" is credited to Jagger and Richards, though the song was largely a Jagger composition. Jagger stated in an interview that his influence for the song came from Baudelaire a french poet and from the Russian author Mikhail Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita (which had just appeared in English translation in 1967). Jagger is singing in first person like he is the devil character in the song.
I think y'all are now hooked on the Stones. This was the 1st time I've heard Ms Recklezz say out loud, "I want to hear more. Also, @Lifewithrecklezz said at time stamp 3:55, "I don't want to sound dumb." .... don't worry about it. Whether you get what the song is talking about or not, your observations and interpretations are always thoughtful. (By the way, I do think you got it, and at the end of the song it was clear to me that both of you understood what the Stones were alluding to.) As I've watched your reactions the past several months what I've notice is that you have a couple strong traits that will carry you well in life - your thirst for searching out different music you've not listened to (and I suspect in other areas of life as well) is a good thing. Combine that with how you try to pay attention and try to understand the point of view of the musician is wonderful to see .... and will translate into other areas of life. Good on you. Great song and a great reaction once again.
Even if you don't do a reaction you should check out.the video. John Lennon and yoko Ono in the crowd so is Pete Townsend of the Who. It's a really good example of Mick Jaggers energy very entertaining. I think you did a great job of understanding what this song is about.
It's really important actually that younger generations look at these songs because it's a history lesson and mind expanding. Now that aside - My favorite Stones songs beside this one include SLAVE and Monkey Man although they are very different they both groove me soooooo good. Saw them on Steel Wheels tour as a tear down guy, ended up breaking a couple of toes when a light tower was accidentally lowered on my left foot. This was at Anaheim stadium after the Angels won the WS. I grabbed some mound dirt before my accident. Still have a shirt they gave us all.
The Angels .... They were my team when I moved to LA in the 70's ... Loved them, they were utterly useless in my day, which is why I loved them. When they finally won a series I couldn't believe it.
This song is great, they have a ton of hits tbh but some of my favorites are Miss You, Can't Always Get What You Want, Emotional Rescue, Waiting on a Friend, and Beast of Burden.
This is a tune! Awesome, always on my playlist. This is your second Stones song, you had Gimme Shelter a few weeks back... Paint it Black is also an awesome Stones song 👊🏻
I tell ya what. If the very first time you heard this in the 70's was driving down a country road all alone in the middle of the night, then when it ended the DJ left about 10 seconds of dead air... well, it REALLY creeped you out.
30odd years ago I was a teenage soldier in the British Army in Germany. I got a new room mate who'd transferred from the Royal Marines. He introduced me to the Rolling Stones, I've been a fan ever since then.
1968... the year I graduated from high school. Vietnam was going strong. I remember in my college years listening to this and dancing around a dining room table singing "Woo woo". Of course we were all stoned!
There's songs like RUBY TUESDAY, TIME IS ON MY SIDE, ANGIE, BABY YOU'RE OUT OF TIME, LETS SPEND THE NITE TOGETHER, MEMORY MOTEL! Just a few most ppl have forgotten!
I think you're spot on with your interpretation of this song. 'Sympathy' for the Devil as 'he' is blamed for most if not all evil when we and we alone as humans are responsible for our actions, our atrocities, our self and planetary destruction. We are thrown into this world without explanation and are abandoned as a species to determine our own morality.
I noticed he keeps saying "what is puzzling you is the nature of my game" and the whole song is like a puzzle and in the end he answers the question "hope you guess my name" with this sentence "as head his tails just call me Lucifer"....
My generation and the generation or two before me all grew up on groups like The Stones. They are an icon in rock music history. I'm not a huge fan personally, but this is one of my favorite songs by any band. It is certainly thought provoking. And it still sounds great 50+ years after it's release, and it's just as relevant today.
The Stones have so many great songs you can't always get what you want paint it black fool to cry ruby Tuesday wild horses brown sugar start me up respectable shattered the list goes on
You guys are spot on with your analysis! Here's more Rolling Stones to check out next: "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction","Monkey Man","Beast of Burden","It's Only Rock 'N' Roll (But I Like It)","Angie","Shattered","She's Like A Rainbow","Under My Thumb","Get Off of My Cloud","Midnight Rambler", "Miss You" and "Waiting on a Friend" (beautiful song with great sax!). Lots of great songs in the Rolling Stones rabbit hole! 🐰🎶😎
Growing up in the 60s and 70s I can tell you it was a savage time for humanity. I believe this was a cautionary tale meant to remind people The world we create for ourselves is on us. We need to make it about love and peace.
Jagger wrote this song and it was, originally, claimed to be based on the poem Baudelaire, but, later he stated he was inspired by Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita which is some truly legendary Soviet-era Russian literature. Highly recommended reading if you get the chance.

Listen to the lyrics.
As every cop is a criminal. (Opposite.)
All you sinners, saints.(Opposite.)
As heads is tails.(Opposite.)
Just call me Lucifer.........(Opposite?!)
Got it?
"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" by The Stones is great.
The sax ,yeah one of my favorites
Paint it black. Should be the next Stones song.
You kids NAILED it. The messages are subtle but they are there for anyone who wants to actually listen. Loved your reactions!
You want to hear a Blues song or a Rock tune ,maybe a Country or Disco or some Reggae or the best Mellow songs ever.....just listen to the STONES cause they do it all .
Wow I cant beleive this is the first time you heard of the rollings stones ,they are the biggest greatest live touring band of all times with a deep catalog of albums and singles ,they are the definition of rock & roll ,base it on heavy blues sound ,even today they are still Amazing .truly the best rock and roll band ever from the beginning to present .
It's March. 2 weeks to Saint Patrick's Day. When you gonna check out some Irish punk??? Some Dropkick Murphys? Some Flogging Molly or Tossers or Rumjacks?! Come on fam!
Imagine hearing this song in a 70,000 seat stadium where most the audience is sing WooWoo. It is awesome.
Enjoyed watching both of your reactions. You asked for more Stones suggestions, I highly recommend the following. - "Miss You" "Waiting on a Friend" "Emotional Rescue" "Beast of Burden" and "Wild Horses"
Somebody should check this young lady for a pulse. I think she said two words the whole video!
Great to see young folks listening to one of the best bands of all time when they were at their peak.
Even if you don't do a reaction you should check out.the video. John Lennon and yoko Ono in the crowd so is Pete Townsend of the Who. It's a really good example of Mick Jaggers energy very entertaining. I think you did a great job of understanding what this song is about.
Wicked guitar, wicked song all told. You got to have sympathy for the guy blamed for so much human misery.
In the 60's and 70's they said we were too young and wasted to know what the world was about !
We showed them !
We are STILL showing them !
This a history lesson in a song.
Rolling Stones - Play with fire
Miss you (extended version)
Doo doo doo doo doo (heartbreaker)
Checkout - can’t you hear me knocking!! Awesome jam!! It rocks
More Stones. One of my top five too my friends.
Ouch. Broke right foot toes. Can still be piercing painful after 20 years - not always but suddenly, almost out of nowhere
This song is great, they have a ton of hits tbh but some of my favorites are Miss You, Can't Always Get What You Want, Emotional Rescue, Waiting on a Friend, and Beast of Burden.
that is one filthy lead, and you guys are exactly right. at the end when he is vamping he says" i gotta tell ya, you're to blame." great song.
"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" is another classic by The Stones. A must react to.
Rolling stones, the who. 2 of the best bands ever in history in my opinion.
This is a tune! Awesome, always on my playlist. This is your second Stones song, you had Gimme Shelter a few weeks back... Paint it Black is also an awesome Stones song 👊🏻
The fabulous Stones..best ever by long shot, in my opinion...some 400+ songs are not many throw-aways..
I tell ya what. If the very first time you heard this in the 70's was driving down a country road all alone in the middle of the night, then when it ended the DJ left about 10 seconds of dead air... well, it REALLY creeped you out.
Dj was either in the bathroom or at the back door of station smoking a doobie and was late getting back ...hence 10 seconds of dead air.
For every human atrocity, we blame the devil .
The devil is just reminding us it was team work
30odd years ago I was a teenage soldier in the British Army in Germany.
You've just heard the"world's greatest rock band" and just what a deep DEEP rabbit hole you entered.
Enjoy.
"Jumping Jack Flash!!" three words that will change your life ...lol a lot of people don't dig that one.....but one of their best
I second the gimme shelter request, paint it black, honkey tonk woman, start me up, wild horses, can’t you hear me knocking, love in vain
Check out Rico & Crys's reaction
to "Gimme Shelter". It was their very
first Rolling Stones song! 🎵✌️❤️👇

My favorite song by the stones is “Tumbling Dice.” It’s on their album, Exile On Main Street which is epic.
Great reaction! This one, Satisfaction, Paint it Black and Beast of Burden are my favorite Rolling Stones songs!!
Saw them live a few years back and they played 20 or so brilliant songs including this.
Midnight Rambler and Can't Always Get What You Want are 2 great tracks from the same album.
Midnight Rambler is the BOMB!!!
"Beast of Burden" is my favorite Stones song. Just about tied with ""Shine a Light"
Good reaction!!! The humanity needs something or someone to blame for their acts. Greettings from Argentina
I noticed he keeps saying "what is puzzling you is the nature of my game" and the whole song is like a puzzle and in the end he answers the question "hope you guess my name" with this sentence "as head his tails just call me Lucifer"....
The rolling stones songs you might like.
Paint it black/ I can't get no satisfaction
My generation and the generation or two before me all grew up on groups like The Stones. They are an icon in rock music history. I'm not a huge fan personally, but this is one of my favorite songs by any band. It is certainly thought provoking. And it still sounds great 50+ years after it's release, and it's just as relevant today.
BAM! I think you nailed the meaning. Great song of all time imo.
My favorite band of all time.. I’m 57 got two toung tattoos…lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸
Check out "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by The Rolling Stones
It is such a great song, I love the beginning of it.
Great video you guys.
I Love the look on her face when you say, I don't wanna sound dumb, like, you can't help it. lol
Anything they did was 🔥I remember my dad saying they would be a flash in the pan,he had to eat his words.
Growing up in the 60s and 70s I can tell you it was a savage time for humanity. I believe this was a cautionary tale meant to remind people The world we create for ourselves is on us. We need to make it about love and peace.
One of rock's classics along with The Who's 'Won't get fooled again'.
Jagger wrote this song and it was, originally, claimed to be based on the poem Baudelaire, but, later he stated he was inspired by Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita which is some truly legendary Soviet-era Russian literature. Highly recommended reading if you get the chance.
I really like you guys. I'm a lot older but you seem like people I'd enjoy hanging out with. Good job on understanding most of these lyrics.
