Yet another great video (I sound like a broken record! 😊) I have 2 questions for you: where do you get your clear zipper bags, and do you have a tutorial about prepping items for resale (cleaning, repairing, etc.)?
I get the clear bags on Amazon. When I get to a computer, I'll give you a link. I haven't made a video on prepping the items, but that is a great idea. Thank you again!
I am also a retired school superintendent (In Indiana) and selling on eBay along with some retail booths. You say in this video that you would never understand why someone would not check Require Immediate Payment. My experience has been that with that checked, a buyer can not add 2 items into their cart and REQUEST A NEW TOTAL before paying. It worked once I quit requiring immediate payment. This allows someone to buy multiple books or multiple license plates in one order, and I can fix combined shipping Before They Pay. It saves them trusting me to refund shipping. A second thing that I heard is that 2 day handling didn't have an advantage. I changed to 1 day handling and free returns, and now eBay tags most of my listings with Top Rated Seller PLUS. The plus indication requires 1 day handling. I love your videos. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much! I've changed my stance on requiring immediate payment. Not so much for me because it doesn't apply to my items very often. But I understand it now in situations just like yours. The Auction Professor explained it the same way and that makes sense. I tried free returns for several months a while back. But it bothered me so much that it wasn't worth any boost in sales (which we never realized). I absolutely not above trying things again at some point. eBay is a moving target.
@@TheChaChingKing I was really nervous about the free returns, but knock on wood - I have none since turning it on. As you recommend, I show ANY possible flaw in photos and the description. A positive of accepting Free Returns, is that eBay says if you accept a return, they will remove any associated Negative Feedback since you resolved it with a return. I love the Top Seller Plus icon on my listings and feel my sales have really increased since that started. I have not turned on the Global Shipping yet either, but you almost have me convinced! @@dennischambers5499 Removing negative feedback is, by far, the biggest motivator for me. If we ever do decide to offer it again, that will be the reason why.
This is almost exactly how I do it except I take my pics right in the ebay app. I will never understand ppl that say listing is faster on the computer. They usually just ignore the time it takes to switch from camera to computer, upload pics and then search for them once they get to their computer. @TheChaChingKing I'm just looking to sell from my personal collection to start out. I have a lot of "free inventory" lying around the house. Just wondering how to pack dvds for shipping.
I noticed in your video that when you placed the item that was in the bag you had a label on the bag stating what the item was. Where and how did you make that label for the bag?
@@TheChaChingKing is that necessary to make a label for the bag? I could see if you had multiple shirts, for instance, that were different sizes and such. But if that is the only shirt that is like that, I wouldn't think it would be necessary to label it.
All of your video's are very helpful to me. I do have a question though. I used to sell items on ebay but I stopped for a few years. I am trying to get into selling items again. I have tired to list several items but several things do not appear and I don't understand why. It never comes up asking if I want to offer free shipping, customized SKU or a spot for an actual shipping amount to be added. Is this something you can help me with or point me in the right direction for help? Thank you.
The customized SKU is in the item specifics. You'll have to scroll down and show more to see it. It's usually the very last thing. I don't know why you aren't seeing the shipping. Shipping has changed some from when I made this video. I'm working on a new shipping video. If I had to guess, you will need to get on your computer and create some shipping policies (profiles) to choose from.

Yes, a bank account that allows for electronic deposits should work. Some savings accounts have limited options and a limited number of transactions per month. So, you'd have to check on that to see if eBay would work.
I need some advice. The choices of categories drives me nuts…trying to figure out what categories thing can be found in. Way to many choices that can be dead ends. Do you have a tutorial,or chart or something?
I don't have anything as specific as a chart. I'll tell you what I do, and I think it'll work for you, too. While there are some times when a specific category can make a difference, most of the time you just need to get close. So, I will put vintage clothing in to the vintage categories, but the rest of the time it probably won't matter. Let me give you an example. Let's say you're listing a t-shirt. Let's say that it was made for a man but it would probably fit a woman just as well. I'd put that in men's clothing....because women won't care and a man might. If you're listing something a bit more utilitarian, like a frying pan. Kitchen items have a bajillion categories. The reality of it is that if you have a good title, good pictures and a good description, the right buyer will find it anyway. I get as close as I can and then I don't worry about it. With all the categories eBay has felt the need to develop, you can overanalyze it. But there is no need for that. Just do your best. You can always adjust it at a later time.

You can buy your labels through eBay without a store. My main account has a store subscription. But the one I use to teach from and my son's account do not have store subscriptions. No problem buying and printing labels. If it were me, I'd wait to buy the store subscription until you're rolling or if there is something a subscription offers that you really want...like being able to run a sale.
