Grenadier is built like a truck underneath, diffs, linkages, frame built from heavy gauge steel, not the shaped dog food tins they call a frame in Toyotas and Ford trash.
I paid $121,400 for mine onroad in October 2023 (ordered early 2022) but the same spec now comes to $149,600 . Only alternative with same spec would be a 70 series with $30,000 plus of mods.
I kinda want one. All the stuff you said it's missing is why I want one. Being a new brand and an all new vehicle, I would let a little more water run under the bridge before buying one to confirm it's reliable. FWIW, I had the previous model Defender and the only thing it was good at was attracting tow trucks. The new one may be better, but I still wouldn't trust the brand. Thanks for the review.
The B58 engine is very reliable. It is Toyotas Choice for the power plant of the Supra and Magna Styer has tuned and modified it to produce 100 less horsepower for longevity, reliability and or low torque at lower RPM’s. Race teams use this engine to build engines well north of 750 horsepower with stock lower internals and they remain reliable. Time will tell obviously but as modern engines go I can’t think of a better choice.
Exactly. I had a loaner Mazda and a Tank 300 while mine was getting serviced and spent so much time fighting the vehicle for control. Driving on a windy road and try to clip the apex and the vehicle drags the steering back at you. In the Grenadier the vehicle doesn't tell you how to drive.
Very nice, have been for a test drive. On the list. For me, servicing nationally is a concern, not that I am expecting significant issues - just in case.
This vehicle has been on Australian roads for about two years now and all this information is in the public domain already with plenty of video’s etc. Nothing has changed on the Grenadier in that time. Seriously, why is it being reviewed NOW as if it was new to the market?
I have owned mine for 15 months and 35,000 kms and loving it. It is my daily driver and work vehicle. driving on motorway, Bruce Highway, back roads and dirt/gravel. Up and down from Toogoom to Brisbane, Mackay, Gladstone and Townsville. I have the diesel and averaging 11.3L/100kms. I ordered in 2022 so have all of the Trialmaster and all of the Fieldmaster options. Lockers front and rear, dual battery front and rear tow hitch. High load wiring. ua-cam.com/users/shortsrLlLfAcESmM
Nice vehicle, but it early days still...lots can happen to improve or deter from, or even to create it's reputation...in the mean time I am in heaven driving a truely iconic Landcruiser 80 Series...it has already done all that the Grenadier hopes to achieve...
Comparing the Grenadier to the new Defender just screams ignorance. You'd have to have a death wish, to take the Defender on any remote trips. Chalk and Cheese. The only worthy comparisons would be the LandCruiser 300 series for comfort, or the 70 series 2.8 for capability.
Took one for a test drive and was very close to signing up.....Draw backs are a very limited dealer network. All the plastic bits hanging off those BMW motors. Bought a Nissan Patrol Warrior. Y62 has been around for over a decade. More availability of parts. Now you can get Warrior's, for just over 100k drive away.
So it gets around the new regulations for AEB by being classified commercial? I thought that light commercial was still a part of that or is it bc its gvm is over 3.5t?
A lot of vans that don’t have a ANCAP rating. It’s only public service owned vehicals they get fussy, so they can have an excuse to buy a Mercedes. Why the hell do VIC police cars have to be BMW.
@kennethprocak5176 yes but new vehicles up to light commercial have to have AEB fitted after august 25. Thats why mitsubushi are losing the ASX and the Eclipse from their lineups.
@ I own one - it does. To be fair, I think the ADAS setup is different for NAM and ANZ units - I know Aussie owners give me crap about the Euro clicks and bongs that I have to put up with (plus NAM doesn’t get the diesel option). At least neither of us have to put up with the embarrassment of the front bumper on the UK units.
As far as safety features or lack thereof, I would like rear cross traffic alert because of the vehicles size. Things like lane keep assist and autonomous emergency breaking, a driver should pay enough attention and be capable of stopping the vehicle without ploughing into the back of some poor motorist.
Where are those videos. Neither UA-cam or Forums have reported any issues except those created by the driver with bad fuel and sketchy electrical add ons.
Sorry if I'm being a bit dumb but why is that a question specifically for the agency model? The dealer holds the new car stock on consignment for the importer but any used car business is the dealer's own and they set the wholesale prices they are prepared to buy at - just like any other dealer...
I like the looks, but just can’t get over that the console is in the centre and doesn’t even have an option for a HUD, it’s not very safe to have your eyes on the speedo where it is, especially in Oz 🇦🇺
Speedos like this have been around for freaking ages. A HUD is nice to have but not essential for safety if a speedo is already shown in a sensible place.
Takes about a week to get used to at most and then you discover that keeping your sight line out the windscreen and glancing slightly left is far better than looking down through the steering wheel to see the speedo.
Sadly both Land Rover and Jeep vehicles have become the darlings of the tow truck industry. If the Grenadier combines what used to be the virtues of the Defender with real reliability people will come up with the $100k plus. Not me, if I bought an off road vehicle it would be a Suzuki but horses for courses.
Looks too much like the old Defender. The new Land Rover Defender and the Jeep Wrangler will get you there but won't get you back. The Tank 500 would be my choice for a warrior like me that doesn't go bush bashing.😊
With today’s nanny state speed enforcement I would never buy any car that didn’t have a speed reading directly in my line of vision. Having to constantly glance left to see my speed does not interest me sorry 😞 not sure why manufacturers think this is a good idea?
The only way you get a speed reading directly in your line of sight is with a head up display. Other than that most vehicles make you look down through the steering wheel. The Grenadier has really good basic cruise control, not stupid adaptive cruise control. I set my speed using GPS and have not had a single problem.
Oh this car bing bongs constantly. Absolutely constant. That part is the worst of both worlds, low amount of features but the ones that exist (like overspeed warning and lane shift warning) are annoying af.
love that interior. especially the knobs and dials and switches on the roof.
Yep! It’s cool hey?
Grenadier is built like a truck underneath, diffs, linkages, frame built from heavy gauge steel, not the shaped dog food tins they call a frame in Toyotas and Ford trash.
I love the grenadier but man they are so expensive

Love your 'Kenji' style vids mate. Embracing the FPV style for car reviews just makes sense. Keep cracking on 👍
Thanks mate!
Matt really enjoy your videos straight to the point and without all the bullshit like other channels

It’s not a land rover though. INEOS is a completely new independent company. Read the story on why it’s made 😊

Matt I love it …the size the buttons it’s kinda army like . Love all the over head controls and the sun roof . Thank you for such a great review 😊
I have the factory dark windows and had the front and Safari windows tinted dark with ceramic window tinting. Safari windows are excellent.
Would love one of these. If money wasn’t a consideration I’d have one. Just great cars, so well built.
Always great reviews Matt, 💯
The vehicals got plenty of safety equipment. It’s called a “driver” ! You know the persons that’s supposed to be in control of a vehical by law.
People forget that Safety Item.... the problem is that people are taught how to operate the vehicle and not how to drive.

Yep, good point to consider, that.
I have a 2 hour drive to Sunshine Coast to get it serviced. Thankfully it is only every 15,000 kms

Looks great ah. Tough !
Grenadier…when a old model Defender and a G wagon have a baby
🤣🤣
Bring back the Mitsubishi Delica Van… I would buy one in a heartbeat.
I would too.

You are wrong on the safety systems. You need to read up on it. It has most of the important safty systems.
The only 2 things it doesn’t have are blind spot monitoring and active lane assist - everything else, it has (much to most owners’ annoyance)
'Apart from reliability '😮 isn't that the most important factor? If I drive I car to the outback , I also want to make it back

Except the 70 series isn't capable and the Grenadier not as capable as iy could be. There are much better options if thats what you need.
Both 70 series and Grenadier are platforms to build on to meet your needs. Landcruiser 300 would be great except very questionable load capability.
I'd get the diesel . BMW B57 is awesome

Awesome. The Warrior is a BEAST.
Which came 1st?Defender,,G Wagon or this??
ineos put utility back into sports utility vehicle not a luxury wagon

@@Steve-jx3mhit has AEB - at least up here in the US.

Dude invented LC 70 series.

Great vehicle on paper, but have seen too many arriving back on a flatbed to the showroom in Melbourne..
Where are those videos. Neither UA-cam or Forums have reported any issues except those created by the driver with bad fuel and sketchy electrical add ons.
This would be my choice for a new 4WD. But until I wait for the money tree, I'll stick to my 21 year old Pajero.
I don’t get this agency model. Question, “Sooooo, how much is my trade in worth?”
Sorry if I'm being a bit dumb but why is that a question specifically for the agency model? The dealer holds the new car stock on consignment for the importer but any used car business is the dealer's own and they set the wholesale prices they are prepared to buy at - just like any other dealer...
@@craigb8379 I traded my Mercedes in at the dealer, realistically sold it to them and then used the cash to pay for some of my Grenadier.

Actually, it’s less safe to peer down through your steering wheel because it’s harder for your eyes to adjust.
Takes about a week to get used to at most and then you discover that keeping your sight line out the windscreen and glancing slightly left is far better than looking down through the steering wheel to see the speedo.
Should have had factory portals.
That is available now

I’m just not sure about the bmw motor, Land Rover is totally garbage and jeep are probably leaving.🤣
The BMW B57 Diesel is great and is so detuned in the Grenadier for reliability. 183 KW but 550 NM from 1250 RPM flat
