This is an absolutely fantastic video of an absolutely fantastic airline! I flew Hainan from Edinburgh, Scotland to Dublin, Ireland on a Fifty Freedom flight that goes PEK-EDI-DUB-PEK and PEK-DUB-EDI-PEK and it was fantastic! With the flight only lasting 45 minutes we sadly didn’t get an amenity kit but we did get pillows and blankets and I was allowed to take them with me and I still have them as a souvenir. My 787-9 was less than a year old, it had a great IFE, we got free food (something you NEVER get in European economy class) and my flight cost only £54; not bad to experience a Hainan Dreamliner. Anyway, I’m pleased you enjoyed your flight and welcome to the unofficial Hainan fan club! #FlyHainan

Hi Scott! Great conclusion to your short China trip here. I have to say I expected the most from Hainan! The food all looks great, just a shame the FAs were not that good.. Regards, Brendan
Well, we start off with a view of the city, as usual, and some pop/techno music, as usual, and usually the techno irritates me, but I'll let this one slide because you're going back to the States and our two types of music are country and a mix of pop, techno, and rap. We see the boarding line, which is long. Like really long. I would have listed that as a con, but... You didn't... So we'll let it slide. The first thing we see (that was a pro) was the Hainan Airlines livery. (I pronounce it live-ry, like "We're going live, Jim." I don't like to make airline paint schemes sound like the taste of a metallic organ.) The thing about the Hainan Airlines livery is that it embodies the preferred colors of China. Red and yellow. Red symbolizes luck and happiness and red symbolizes the earth or prosperity. So basically with their livery, they are trying to gain themselves luck and prosperity. We then see some fried rice. You eat fried rice with chopsticks like you'd eat anything else with chopsticks... You do know how to eat with chopsticks, right? Before walking to the gate, we get a shot of the aircraft and the... (Dramatic walking sequence?) moving walkway video. Soon we board the aircraft, and the first thing I noticed is that the seats are the exact same color as his shoes. I, personally, don't like the red seats, as that would make life a lot harder for NTSB reporters who are looking to see who died and who's only passed out. I was hoping that there would be some numbers as to pitch, recline, and width of the seats, but alas, there's just funkier techno music. For the LOVE OF JEBEDIAH KERMAN, I NEED SOME NUMBERS! I am a very numerically-minded person, and I think all the other people who like hard numbers would agree with me. The reason that everything is red is that they are trying to bring luck to yourself and the airline and to make passengers happy while they fly on it and after they deplane. I mean, that's LITERALLY what I said earlier. We get some nasty looking food after that, which, honestly, probably tasted better than it looked. I don't know, airline food just hits BETTER in the sky. We finally get a con with bad service. WOOT. I mean, not woot, but still, some negatives. Of course, mediocre bathroom footage. As in, the footage wasn't bad, but the bathroom was mediocre. I love airlines that have overhead IFEs showing the moving map, either on the bulkheads or on overhead monitors. That way I can see where we are without having my screen be the map itself and I can watch some epic movies, like *Top Gun.* Danger Zone, anyone? Then we see breakfast, and that looked AWESOME. Way better than most other breakfasts, as they serve GYOZA in ECONOMY CLASS. With dragonfruit, too? Whaaaaa? I understand that you made the review overwhelmingly positive, although I could have come up with a few more negatives. People like you are who made Hainan a 5-star airline. You know, you probably could have said that the hard product was good and the food was good, but the soft product (service and other extraneous variables) were less than average, as that seems to be the final tally. Altogether decently well made, although I still would love to see a spool up, even if it is from the middle row. Put in some numbers and maybe some crew interaction and you've got a good tripreport!
Haha, danger zone!! I totally agree with you there. As a matter of fact, I think UA’s new IFE allows for picture in picture so we can watch a movie and a the map at the same time. That’s pretty cool. 😎 Anyway...what can I say about your summarizations?! Just incredible! Thanks so much, and at least it tells me you are watching the entire thing. 😄😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@sanspotter Listen. I have some... Advice to give. You are an aviation UA-camr. You do trip reports (Duh.) and post it to UA-cam. (Alright, quit listing the obvious.) Don't fly the economy class of airlines that people already know and expect a lot out of. Fly the economy class of airlines people don't know. The weird. Uncomfortable. Mildly dangerous. That doesn't mean limiting yourself to Allegiant, it means exploring. Giving people a taste of some REAL foreign carriers. No other aviation UA-camr really does that, and it would make your channel unique and stand out. You don't have to do this, just some advice.
Well am from Nairobi hence thats why I asked. Are you willing to try African Airlines😀. Ipromise you will be surprised at how good they are.For me i think Kenya Airways and Ethiopian are the best😊😊

Hainan Airlines: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED
Hainan Airlines won the seventh place in The World’s Top 10 Airlines of 2019 in June 18th

Anyway...what can I say about your summarizations?!
Did you just say Nairobi or I heard my own things🤣🤣🤣
Someone else mentioned that as well, and I was like 🤔🤔😄. But you’re exactly right!
Well am from Nairobi hence thats why I asked. Are you willing to try African Airlines😀. Ipromise you will be surprised at how good they are.For me i think Kenya Airways and Ethiopian are the best😊😊
personal opinion, i dont like this color of red. the red is too over, well, in some part of china, the dead ppl in funereal, will wear similar color shirt...
Yeah, it’s definitely interesting how prevalent the use of red is in China - for all kinds of different situations.
Wedding will also wear red
