Wow Hainan Airlines really have stamped their name onto the aviation industry. I really would like to try their Business class from Sydney. The dumplings made my mouth water "yum" and this was in economy. Well done Hainan Airlines "Happy Landings Jayden"
Even in economy it seems you have plenty of room...lots of vacant seats!! Love watching those wings on take off ! I am with you on touch screens. Having flown on about 20 different airlines over the years I have found the touch screens almost useless...better off using the remote and sometimes that can take a long time to navigate to where you want to go !! Very impressed that the cabin crew were walking around offering water and snacks etc...normally after the meal they go to the back of the aircraft and sit around talking!! The best Netflix is out the window!!! Fantastic review Jayden as always and I look forward to our next flight together!!

This appears to have been an outstanding economy class flight though admittedly having such a low load enhances the passenger`s experience. The crew looked to be genuinely enjoying themselves and were intent on providing great hospitality. Love the crew`s uniforms too. I`ve never flown with Hainan, but based on your reviews and those of others I would love to travel with them. The fares you mention are also incredibly reasonable. Thanks again!

I agree. Red has a warm feeling. I am always cold when flying. Maybe a red interior would help convince me to feel more comfortable? A mind game maybe, but blue is not warm, and definitely overused! 🥶

I flew United from SFO-TLV last July and as I was waiting for my flight I happened to sit next to the husband of one of the Flight attendants. I gave him tips about Israel and on the flight the flight attendant gave me Ice Cream fro Business Class and the Ammenity kit! She remembered me on the return flight and gave me excellent service too!
I do like the red interior and the seat pattern; I find it very unique. The crew uniform is also very nice. I have never flown Hainan, but your video makes me want to try them. I also find it rare to get three meal options in Economy class--it is usually two. Great flight report, Jayden, thank you!
That was impressive legroom for Economy Class seats! For a moment, I doubted what I was watching and went to check that this was not a Business Class flight. You've made me want to try Hainan Airlines more than before....after the coronavirus situation is over, that is. 😳

This is Guerry again, and although it has been a long time since I have left a comment on one of your videos, I have finally caught up with viewing all of your posts. In regards to this review, I was so impressed with the service you received in Hainan Airlines’ economy class that I had to continually stop the video and take notes. But, before I continue my comments, apart from the less expensive air fare, do you prefer flying into and out of Shenzhen or Hong Kong airports? I have had to fly from cold to hot and vice versa places before, and what I have found most convenient is packing whatever clothes to wear at my destination in my carry-on baggage and changing in the lavatory during the flight. This is how I have stayed comfortable at both origins and destinations. I do not know if you are aware or not, but airlines are starting to no longer install IFE’s (in-flight entertainment systems) on new aircraft or when they upgrade their cabins. In lieu of them, airlines will offer free cabin WIFI for passengers to watch movies, etc. during flights as a way for the airlines to cut down on costs. I have read that the primary reason is due to passengers practically torturing the touch screens to death with the way they treat them, causing the IFE’s to require excessive maintenance. So, I guess for frequent travelers it is time to purchase some sort of tablet to keep from going blind on a 13 hour flight by viewing videos on a cell phone. For those who happen to fly on a 787 and enjoy videoing their flight, it is still possible to create a great video when the flight crew has overridden your choice and darkened all the windows. I have restored outside video shots to normal (eliminated the dark blue hue), but it requires editing the video with good video editing software - the free stuff will not work. I have accomplished it using “Pinnacle Studio” and Adobe “Premiere Pro”. Both videos turned out as if the windows had not been darkened at all and very nice. The most important factor I gleaned from your flight is the absolutely incredible service you received from the flight crew. I haven’t seen this sort of service in many, many years on western flag air carriers. The lady crew members were stunningly beautiful, and the man who served you was exceptionally well groomed. A crew member showing up every half hour with refreshments is not to be found on the long haul flights I have taken, especially in economy (coach) class. Most surprisingly is the cabin cleanliness, specifically in the lavatories. I could write volumes as to how impressed I was with the service you received. However, I will just say that if I ever have to fly to east Asia, I will make every effort to fly on an east Asian flag carrier, even if I have to pay more for the flight. Again sir, thank-you for a most enjoyable and informative flight review. Please keep up the great work, and I am looking forward to your next post.

Although Shenzhen Airport happens to be closer to my home, the HK-China border is a painful place to go through. Also the bus service don't run very frequently from the border to my home in HK. I wore shorts because it was so hot in Shenzhen, and my legs are 'cold-resistant' when in Vancouver haha. As soon I arrived in Shenzhen, I took off my jumper 👌🏻easy peasy I'm totally fine with airlines removing IFE screens, but they better make sure the Wi-Fi is free and fast. Otherwise I won't be happy. Qantas is doing that on their domestic flights, and I like it very much. They also need a phone holder on every seat, Cathay does that already but not many others do. For me, what made the flight amazing were the cabin crew and the food. They made sure everybody was comfortable. Thanks again Guerry!

I've never flown with a Chinese airlines so far and was pleasantly impressed by the attitude of HNA's cabin crew. In fact, I have often heard that the service in Chinese airlines is rotten, the FAs crew are rude and unhelpful and the meals are short or horrible. I'm happy that your report just contradicts all these prejudices. I find HNA's FAs attitude are great and perfect and the meals look really gorgeous, better than those served in most European and US airlines. BTW, it's true that a flight with few passengers makes FAs work less painful and easier and therefore they're more smiling and helpful. Maybe this is the case in your flight. The atmosphere looks so relaxed. Perhaps its because the flight was sparse. I'd consider flying Hainan's economy though am not sure I would consider the business class because of its configuration. YVR is really the best. Sad that we were not allowed to explore the terminal when my CX flight stopped there before heading to JFK. Really liked the video! Hopefully Hainan could also fly to MNL. They are truly the best compare to the other mainland airliners.
i am wondering why the blankets dont have a plastic over it. Seems like they were not washed. I just took a flight with them from beijing to brussels and the same thing happened.

Thank you, Michael! Some airlines do recognise me as a Qantas gold when I fly but it's rare and it's usually just a quick hi. Hainan gave me a bottle of water, hot towel, apple etc. They just know how to make people happy haha :D

Touchscreen not properly working in certain areas is always the case with economy class, this applies to other airlines such as KLM, etihad, and emirates.
Fantastic trip report the crews on this flight were so cheerful and friendly, and the food onboard looked so amazing. Also, Vancouver Airport is so awesome. It is like the Changi of Canada 😀
The interior seat style/ colouring really reminds me of Air India 787 economy. They walked by every 30 minutes? That's like beyong amazing service. Usually on most of my flights the crew dissapears after the first service :(
Indeed, water at least every 30 mins, snacks perhaps 2-3 hours. Unfortunately even my favourite airline, Cathay, their crew disappear after the service...

Yes I did. One coach to the border, then another one to my home in Yuen Long. vERYy chaotic at the HK/China border but other than that it was all good. If you can end up saving $1000+ departing from SZX then do it! Hainan is a great airline. Thanks for watching!

They were actually very genuine, we had a great chat in the galley for a good 3 hour. I would love to try out the Chinese Big 3- Air China, China Southern and China Eastern and see how they do. Thanks for watching :D
My international flights on Chinese carriers are very limited to Air China. I found the crew on every single flight to be friendly, extremely hardworking and very professional. Their command of English is weak, but since I speak Mandarin, it's very easy to communicate with them.

Been flying on chinese gov carriers and qantas for ages to and fro china. Hainan is an economically friendly airline while having the best service in china
Nah mate hahaha. For the first meal, I finished the chicken rice, some of beef and fish. For second meal, I finished the fried rice and just a little bit of pasta
Great Video Jayden, Vancouver airport is one of my favourite airports, on this flight to Shenzhen the cabin crew were all so friendly and nice! And also the landing was smooth and beautiful 20:38!!
I have faith on them, as long as they’re doing the right thing they’ll be fine! Qantas, JAL and Cathay all went through financial troubles and they’re all good now :)
I was surprised to see so many empty seats. I begin to wonder is it a money maker flight. Philippine Airlines stopped flying from YVR to New York. Just recently Cathay Pacific has announced they are discontinuing their JFK flight from Vancouver. They have been operated since 96. Are airlines scaling back flights to/from YVR?
That got me thinking a bit. Cathay changed one of its 777 to YVR to a A350 before the Hong kong thing happened. I'd love to hear back from an expert about this! Thanks for watching!

I spoke English with the crew on the way to Canada. They weren’t super fluent but no problem at all communicating with them in English :)

I've never flown with a Chinese airlines so far and was pleasantly impressed by the attitude of HNA's cabin crew.
In fact, I have often heard that the service in Chinese airlines is rotten, the FAs crew are rude and unhelpful and the meals are short or horrible.
I'm happy that your report just contradicts all these prejudices.
I find HNA's FAs attitude are great and perfect and the meals look really gorgeous, better than those served in most European and US airlines.
BTW, it's true that a flight with few passengers makes FAs work less painful and easier and therefore they're more smiling and helpful. Maybe this is the case in your flight.

One World Flyer HNA’s service between Sydney and Changsha will be terminated soon due to low occupancy rate.
The atmosphere looks so relaxed. Perhaps its because the flight was sparse. I'd consider flying Hainan's economy though am not sure I would consider the business class because of its configuration. Thats a turn up for the books. Feeling relaxed is key. Thank you for showing this hidden treasure.

Another great video Jayden! I have heard good things about Hainan Airlines and your report seems to validate those positive reviews. Impressive cabin service and quite decent food for economy class. I wonder if the service you received would be less attentive if the cabin was completely full. This really was an ideal flight as so many passengers could stretch out in the economy cabin. I'm sure when the flight is full, the service will be less attentive, but they'll still be walking around the cabin every 30 mins and give out water etc. Just less conversations and one to one interactions I guess.

YVR is really the best. Sad that we were not allowed to explore the terminal when my CX flight stopped there before heading to JFK. Really liked the video! Hopefully Hainan could also fly to MNL. They are truly the best compare to the other mainland airliners.

Thank you, Michael! Some airlines do recognise me as a Qantas gold when I fly but it's rare and it's usually just a quick hi. Hainan gave me a bottle of water, hot towel, apple etc. They just know how to make people happy haha :D

The interior seat style/ colouring really reminds me of Air India 787 economy. They walked by every 30 minutes? That's like beyong amazing service. Usually on most of my flights the crew dissapears after the first service :(
Indeed, water at least every 30 mins, snacks perhaps 2-3 hours.
Unfortunately even my favourite airline, Cathay, their crew disappear after the service...

Yes I did. One coach to the border, then another one to my home in Yuen Long. vERYy chaotic at the HK/China border but other than that it was all good. If you can end up saving $1000+ departing from SZX then do it! Hainan is a great airline. Thanks for watching!

How was the crew's rest area like
very tiny. It wasn't very easy to get up there. Not easy to climb to the bunk too, but once you lie down, the space is good (almost like business class)

They were actually very genuine, we had a great chat in the galley for a good 3 hour. I would love to try out the Chinese Big 3- Air China, China Southern and China Eastern and see how they do. Thanks for watching :D
My international flights on Chinese carriers are very limited to Air China. I found the crew on every single flight to be friendly, extremely hardworking and very professional. Their command of English is weak, but since I speak Mandarin, it's very easy to communicate with them.

I have faith on them, as long as they’re doing the right thing they’ll be fine! Qantas, JAL and Cathay all went through financial troubles and they’re all good now :)

I was surprised to see so many empty seats. I begin to wonder is it a money maker flight. Philippine Airlines stopped flying from YVR to New York. Just recently Cathay Pacific has announced they are discontinuing their JFK flight from Vancouver. They have been operated since 96. Are airlines scaling back flights to/from YVR?
That got me thinking a bit. Cathay changed one of its 777 to YVR to a A350 before the Hong kong thing happened. I'd love to hear back from an expert about this! Thanks for watching!
