California state certified water treatment operator for many years and we already do it in many ways and just don't talk about it. In all my years of water treatment it is extremely safe and there is no way to accidentally short circuit the process.

Charge them to clean the water but make it illegal to collect rain water. Go freedom.

Considering water is as old as the universe, as long as it is certifiably clean, I'm good with it. Every molecule of water we use is recycled.

I knew a guy that worked in a sewage water treatment plant. He said that the water that was output after filtering was clearer and better than the water flowing to the houses.

@@samfrancisco8095 The EPA regulations required water leaving he facility and being pumped into the Mississippi River to be filtered and treated with chlorine. It was required to have less bacteria than the water going to homes. Only now are California municipalities considering using waste water after treatment for their water systems.

Look into all of the new research about how much microplastic contamination is in the water in plastic water bottles. Microplastic particles are very highly carcinogenic. You get by far the highest doses of them from plastic water containers. I've changed all of my drinking bottles & glasses to metal, glass or ceramic. If you care about your health, you should worry a lot more about microplastics than filtered water. Get your own water filter and stop using even more plastic. Or buy water in glass bottles if you can find that.

Seeing as I'm sure many in California does not even drink directly from the tap for the "taste" and choses to buy treated water or from water bottles purchased from stores. Many residents are even unaware that the water is even treated for human consumptions. This is an easy way for the state to conserve water usage. Can't believe it has taken so long.

Why does Colorado need to purify waste water? It seems to me that they’ve got plenty of water to begin with!

I bought bottled water that was advertised as being fresh, but upon investigation, I found out a good portion of the water in it was billions of years old!

and what about the new study which stated "millions of particles of nano plastics found in bottled water"....
i wonder if these are filtered out ....i wonder if these are found in wastewater.... i wonder if these are found in non-recycled drinking water

I just commented about that above. This is why water in plastic bottles is the absolute worst for your health. I think they still need to develop better filters for microplastics and PFAS because the research in this area is new.

Too bad you can’t separate the “grey” water from the “black” like you can in travel trailers and motor homes. Grey water is from your washing machine, dishwasher and showers and other bathing. Black water is from the toilet. Yeah, recycle and treat a community’s grey water, but not the black water!

Well as a lifelong water treatment operator, in the state of California, my answer is yes. There is no ability to "short circuit" the treatment process. It just can't happen.
