Let's Fly Away it happened here to when it trains a lot water gets into to sewage pipe and when the creek flood water gets in it an sewage gets spilled into the creek in Sydney
For some reason, I always assumed that water that went down the drain went to a water treatment facility, and then after treatment, went back into the municipal water supply, or into a reservoir or something like that so it could be used again. Looks like I was wrong - in most places, after treatment, it just gets dumped into a river and carried out to sea. This seems relevant right now, because where I am, it hasn't rained at all in more than 2.5 months and the government is starting to ration water.
Been living in US for 10 years. I have been curious about where does the waste go after flushing and luckily I found this video. This much educational information for only 700k views?
Ten minutes is all it takes to educate people about stuff most don't ever want to have to think about. I worked in the field. I am not an outcast from society. Flush but don't forget.
Yooo Detroit's wastewater treatment process is amazing. Chemical treatment of wastewater is so common in the US that I didn't even know there were good alternatives in use anywhere here.
My grandpa is the president of the water district in Ranger/Eastland, Texas, walked me through the plant and taught he how everything works. It's pretty cool
Filipinos should watch this and pay attention to the problem of sewage system in our country.. After watching reporters notebook (documentary about the problem of sewage system) I became more aware and curious on how this problem should be handled..
What woman thinks that its okay to flush tampons and pads down the toilet??? Literally every bathroom says "DON'T FLUSH SANITARY NAPKINS DOWN THE TOILETTE!!!" Every. Bathroom. Who is doing this? WHO????
Hive Atlas apparently a couple of them, i had a big ass party for my 16th bday and some dumb bimbo flushed a tampon down my toilet and fucked up my whole basement smh
I really appreciate this video but am disappointed that Nestle is advertising their water before this video. In Ontario, Nestle is taking its waters from our water source, bottling it and selling it. Since it takes about 3 times as much water to make a water bottle as what the bottle holds, making plastic bottles is a poor use of our water resources. This is in addition to the fact that many of those bottles end up requiring even more energy to be recycled/cleaned out of waterways/or take up space in landfills.
The guy at the sewer plant told us when they got through with the 💩 water it was cleaner than the river they send it into. We told him to drink some. He wouldn’t.
Thank you I needed this video for my class in science and they need a really good grade to make my mom proud 🙂🙂🙂 thank you so now I can show this to my teacher and show this to my partners in science and then will have a good grade thanks to you😃😃😃😃😃😃🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Agent Office what sort of oppressed dictatorship do you live in. The city taking ownership of rainwater?? That is bullshit bro stand up against this oppression water is a fundamental right.
Denver is one example of that. Water is a right, but if everybody was to do it in a giant city like that the amount of water that runs off to rivers and lakes could change by a lot. This amounts to changes in the environment and less water to it. Kind of a necessary evil.
Good video. Although it's not much comfort knowing chlorine isn't needed for wastewater yet it is added along with the poison fluoride to your DRINKING WATER!!!
Fluoride is what protects your teeth and is vital for people that wish to use their teeth past the age of 35. Please read up and if you can, test it yourself, to know what it actually does before you just read and parrot the "tin foil" hat people about conspiracies.
The stuff they are saying you shouldn't do is COMMON SENCE. There really are way to many uneducated people in this world and also people that generally just don't care.. Sad world we live in and is the reason the world is in the state its it.
MagicalBread lol this is a joke i think. but if you actually didn't know that canada is right on the detroit river. then you are brain dead. but if you are joking then good job
They slope downwards. The water travels by gravity. If its to far, or you live lower than the treatment facility then they have lift stations( holes in the ground that collect and pump it up hill)
Please listen to whole video before making idiotic comments geeez....they said put it in containers and throw it out in garbage....Or if you can or want to take it to a plant. That's up to you. But Do NOT PUT IT DOWN SINK!!!!!!!
I live in Australia and I had no idea that my sewer went to the Detroit River
Ehhh lol

They should teach this in schools
They do teach this in schools.
Cake Can, better yet take them to the plant show them what guys have to do to fix the plant
I don't know about your country, but they do teach us this in chemistry.
No they shouldn't since this doesn't talk about the cleaning
Watching this because of school rn you got your wish
Very well done. Much more engaging and explanatory than most videos on wastewater treatment I am finding on youtube.
They sure as hell don't teach this in school, though they ought to.
they ought to teach more practical stuff like this in schools, real life stuff
cvetko jovcevski I went on a field trip to a wastewater treatment plant when I was in school.
This video was showed to us today in Science class.
Dragonfly 6300 the ought to teach you to fucking talk normal

I've always been interested in waste water treatment since I was little, thanks for finally clearing this up for me!
I worked at a wastewater treatment plant for 25 years. I can say honestly I had a shifty job! But I also say damn proud to help clean water
For some reason, I always assumed that water that went down the drain went to a water treatment facility, and then after treatment, went back into the municipal water supply, or into a reservoir or something like that so it could be used again. It's always lovable to watch how water is cleaned. Blessed you.
It's sad that videos like this never make it to the trending page
This should be taught early in school! A random conscious acknowledgement of my running water while I was brushing my teeth brought me here.
Awesome video, I wish more people could see this.
Please don't dump cooking oil down the drain!

Very concise and to the point. I'll be sure to share this on FB.
They taught this in my science class and I just went back to rewatch it for no reason

It’s Windsor Ontario’s process going into the Detroit River lol

Hello, may I have the permission to use some of the clips in this video for my project? Thank you in advanced.
i’m now going to be more aware of this, thank you!
Although some people have septic tanks
How does the sewage drain have the momentum to push the water so far? My house is miles and miles away from any treatment plant!
They slope downwards. The water travels by gravity. If its to far, or you live lower than the treatment facility then they have lift stations( holes in the ground that collect and pump it up hill)
thank u for the useful information
What about the shower? Soaps, shampoos, sunscreens, lotions, hair products, and countless skin products…
In the UK all drains are separated as it is illegal to have stormwater ajd wastewater in the same sewer as are sewers.
How can the water we drink be pur into plastic container for sell?
We do it's called Pepsi max
That's a neat toilet.
How many elements we receive per day? Animal cells, plant cells, organ cells or robotic cells bacteria and human cells.
Thanks for clarifying what TP is.. confidently thought it abbreviated for toothpaste hehe
