It’s crazy, I remember first watching this video as a sophomore in college in 2007 and had just gotten into flight school. I fell in love with it and now I’m a working pilot.

If I can remember correctly, this is the first ever plane takeoff/landing video I have ever seen, and it is what inspired my love for aviation. I’ve been an aviation enthusiast for about 7 years and I plan on becoming an aerospace engineer or a pilot.

I have no idea why people want planes quieter these days. I love the first giant jetliner generation such as the 747-200 and DC-10 recorded here. Those are planes with sound to match their size.

The 747-200 - the one and only true Queen of the Skies. Even more gracious and better sounding than the 777's. The -200 was the best/most beautiful ever made. She will be missed....
That DC10 seemed to be the strongest and fastest of all the planes in that vid, and it's one of the oldest lol. It also had a really cool take off noise!
i think its amazing at the attitude these aircraft are reaching on take-off, and the way the wings flex with the amount of lift generated, and that dc-10 was extremely quick off the mark. awesome vid
Man, this is amazing! I mean, those planes generally need to taxi a longer way before take off, am I right? These take offs look quite extreme. Hats off to those pilots. Besides, people who captured these videos managed to avoid sound distortion due to high volume, so you can hear very loud turbine sound as if you were watching this from the track in person. Good job!
i´m a girl and i think this is so amazing. i think air planes are so beautiful in motion when they take off and land. am i weird i thought mostly guys liked air planes. my boyfriend don´t care about planes at all.
Nice video of the old Biman DC-10. Back in 1992 I flew on one of these non stop to Dhaka. The toilet ran out of water...And then onto Bangkok in a Fokker 28 with ants in the overhead lockers. Heh heh those were the days.
Nice vid. The Engines on the DC-10 are powered by Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines on the Series 20 model. The Series 10 and 30 were powered by General Electric CF6. Thanks for posting. 5* and favourite.
The last one is the best. That sound the engines make. None of the new airliners engines sound like that nowadays. By the way, The Lockheed L-1011 with its Rolls Royce RB211 engines made the best sound during take off.
