I've been coming back to this video since it came out. In all those 14 years there has never been a better DC-10 T/O video on youtube. This is the only video to capture that signature DC-10 engine sound in such quality. That sound in the 70s was so new and signaled the arrival of the high bypass turbofan. Raw power. .... The entire video is wonderfully done! Did you originally have this video on Flightlevel350?
Oh wow what a treat! A DC-10! Very surprising film quality for 2006 I must say, haven't seen anything similar. This may be the best DC-10 takeoff on youtube. Absolutely stunning. Not sure if the old AA livery fits better on the DC-10 or this one. I sure wish I was alive to see these, or understand them like I do now. Cheers!
OMG! By far this is the best DC-10 takeoff video i've ever seen. One interesting thing is to notice how the cabin pressure outflow valve closes as she begins TO run 👉02:26
Taking off into the golden dusk, this is so symbolic. This plane is embarking on it's final journey--marking the ending of an era. Yet she will be followed by newcomers at the dawn of a new and hopeful day.
Probably watched this video first over ten years ago, have been back several times just to listen to that beautiful sound of the engines. Beautifully shot video
I love this video, i love the quality, i love how light and elegant the DC-10 looks flying off into the sunset, as if flying from your heart. simply fantastic.
I actually felt sad seeing it flying away into the sunset.BUT happiness is there.Imagine the joy when they those delicious chicken curry being rolled up by beautiful looking Biman air hostess
Ohhh, very evocative, and great how you showed the A320 to compare the elegant beauty of the DC-10 against the plain lines of the A320. I specially flew Biman Dhaka- Heathrow last year to enjoy flying in a '10 once again (1st and only prev time was Air NZ in '77, as a boy). That unique sound of the GE CF6s running, fodder for the ears! Top marks for your angles and lighting. A shame that the ex Monarch big 10 at Manchester wasn't preserved in her entirety. It features in April 'Airways' mag.
That CF6-GE-50C2 is a Good Earrapist, just like his dad, the Tf39. Even the rivals of Tf39 and Original Cf6, the Jt9D from PW and Rb211 from RR R also good earrapists. The DC10/MD10 also had JT9D as an engine option. The MD-10-40 variant. The TriStar had RB211
its lovely to see a DC-10 again! last time i saw one of these was in the 90s! and as always your videographing just amaizingly smooth! I have seen well over 10,000 videos on youtube and i have never ever seen videagraphing like yours. I should be going to gatwick today to walk the perimeter fence looking for good spots! IL-96 isn't due today. but saturday is always an option!
I remember seeing this video many years ago, it brings back many memories to see it again with the new technologies that we currently have, since in those years it was very difficult to find a cell phone that played UA-cam videos, even so, and the longevity of the content is very good quality
I remember watching this video on FlightLevel350, wayyy back when I was a young lad… before UA-cam was even a big thing or may not even have been a thing at all, I literally had this on repeat!! The DC10’s and MD11’s were my favourites. Cheers for the memories Simon😎👍🏼
What a pride for Bangladesh, being the last Country in the world,in flying this so magnificent bird, for passangers!!!.What a pity, this fabulous aircraft, became so ill-fated!!!.I love too, the unique & so distintive sound, from its powerful engines!!!.But I still wonder:-Why that so powerful Engine at the tail, makes this airplane,to look so "Sexi"???.Never could fly on this "Beautiful Bird" :-( !!!!.What a shame!!!.Greetings from Colombia!!!. :-) !!!.
Well they were unsafe during their popular period thats true, but a lot of the Cargo DC 10's in use today are far more safe considering the bugs were hammered out both expensivley and costly of lives, the DC 10 is a frequent flyer to KBGR Bangor Maine USA as well as its younger brother the MD 10 and 11. So I believe they still are operable in US airspace.

It was filmed on the same day as my Qantas 747 video!

Best engine sound ever, I especially like the hard noise beginning at 2:22. This is my favorite take off video.
Great colours and spectacular takeoff I been on that DC 10 biman Bangladesh airlines it was fantastic
The best engine sound of any plane.
Probably watched this video first over ten years ago, have been back several times just to listen to that beautiful sound of the engines. Beautifully shot video

Thanks Daniel! Glad you like it :-)
02:50 - ...And this, gentlemen, is what is meant when they say, *"She climbs like a rocket".*
Climbing like a home sick angel
This video Made me Fall in love with aviation 10 years ago
Still one of my favourites videos on UA-cam. Sound quality is excellent!
Time passes but memory prevails...

Simon, Thank you for such cool videos with such great sound and conversations!

I've seen it like 40 times and 40 more I'll continue to enjoy it!!!
Whooo! What a shot of that dc-10! Awesome sound and video quality!

From a standing position to near vertical takeoff dc10 didn't need all of the runway love the noise and spoolup of those engines.
gorgeous take off, gorgeous plane.
Crazy climbing!!! Fantastic video! DC10 in my heart(with HIS fantastic sound lol!)
I was fortunate enough to fly a DC 10 from World Airways. Also I grew up in Bangladesh and have flown in Biman F28.
I remember seeing this video many years ago, it brings back many memories to see it again with the new technologies that we currently have, since in those years it was very difficult to find a cell phone that played UA-cam videos, even so, and the longevity of the content is very good quality
Miss so much this sound of the wonderful DC-10
The Douglas DC-10 is a trijet airliner which was produced in 1970, then a year later, it entered service with American Airlines...
Camera: Dolby digital plus
Still my favorite all time plane video on the you tubes. A shame other people stole it off you.
Still missing those trijets that sound damn it gave me goosebumps
beautiful engine spool up, very beautiful aircraft, almost from an gone era I would say...
That is an good old rev on GE Engines back in the 80's 2:04
Near vertical take off, what a lovely plane these were
That was a good video with clear clarity as always Simon. ^_^

UA-cam wasnt invented then lol
one of the best aircrafts ever made and a very reliable workhorse
I was.lucky to fly in that very same plane, its old but it was wonderful, they somehow always did the rolling takeoff
Congratulations!!!Yours videos are TEN!!
Date: 6/11/2008, Airline: Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Aircraft: DC-10 30, Location: Manchester Airport, Flight: Manchester-Dhaka, Camera: Dolby digital plus camcorder
Retired in 2014
...
You are correct except the camera is a Sony VX2000 . thanks for your comment!
Wow..., really nicely done! Many thanks!
Great video Simon I miss this seeing at LHR!
Damn this is beautiful.
The conversation between the pilot and ATC, in parts, sound like a cricket match commentary.
The legendary DC10
Nice see the bird .... it just amazing & nice video..
Majestic look...😊
Thanks very much!
Amazing! Great job!
Awesome plane.
I never got to see one of these :(
Why have I not commented before? ....superb Simon superb.
Undoubtedly one of the next videos... being from subcontinent i loved this video more ...
Bangladeshi Beauty DC10 😍
I can’t believe that she was still being used till 2014 for regular flights
My Second Airtrip 👌♥
She used to Roar like the one an only Angry Queen of Dhaka Airspace ♥
wow... very powerful videographing!
beautiful
what type of camera u have??? very nice like documentary video...
Yes I'm a edetroit subscriber. I think his FS videos are the best.
❤️Biman Bangladesh Airlines ✈️

Ossum sound of GE CF6-50C2
Good Old Screaming DC-10s.
Beautiful
I love the 2nd wide-body aircraft.
Wonderful video. 5 stars

Legend 👍❤️
The DC-10 is a rocket
so nice bangaladesh airlines beautiful food
Bangladesh had a DC10.. Air India Didn't Have 😢😢
But at least Air India had a similar capacity trijet, the L-1011-xyz TriStar, which is better than the DC10/MD10/MD11
The world I wished to fly in simply do not exist anymore.
what was the qantas 744 doin there??
Why I love this plane
I thought the DC-10's last flight is 2014 by BIMAN BANGLADESH AIRLINES
As of today all of the dc10 aircraft’s are retired
OMG 10 Years??? Tnx #Simon Lowe
Hi Andrew, thanks for the comment!
Anybody any idea why engine 3 is tilted downwards on that type of aircraft?
The dc-10 look very angry with the black spot under the cockpit! :)
The airline you will not be seeing are my travel and monarch seen here in this clip
lovely spool up Pratt and Whitneys I believe?
General Electric CF6 I think. Regards!
@@SimonLoweAviation yeah the reason I thought Pratt and Whitney was because it made a bit more of a growl than what the CF6's normally make
That sound... WOW!
That's a GE CF6-50C2. The older CF6 variants sound Super Loud, exactly similar 2 their Military/Defense Father, the Late GE TF39
Those engines sound so awesome while spooling up. Don't know much about DC-10s but the nose up trim seems a bit excessive.
It’s the best place to spot airplanes
Bangladesh Biman😍
You think the engine spooling is done at the turn but then he opens it up even more.. the scream of those engines 😩😩😩😩
Looked almost like the quantas 747 video. Just a different plane
CF6 symphony
You can see the number 2 fan disk in this video, you never see one sense its so far back in the tube !
such and uneconomical aircraft
look at the position of the elevators and how much surface areas there is into the wind
Isn't that bit of a sharp climb?
Excellent video
Would be perfect if you would have shown registration number
