This is very similar to the WATA graded video game scandal from last year (there's a 2 part video series on here that breaks it all down). And, wouldn't you know it, Heritage Auctions was right in the middle of that one too. Same thing, a group of "investors" bought up a bunch of sealed video games, artificially pumped up the prices, then sold their stock.

This reminds me of WATA games and their illegal activities.

The pump becomes even more obvious, when you look back at heritage's posts.
That was a very large collection of exquisite items consigned, and there's likely lots of stuff left to sell.

$5 cards have more profit potential than most $500 cards.

I think it’s fair if someone wants to make the point that the higher sale is more in line with what the market should be..but that doesn’t mean go pay 4x or whatever when a cheaper option is available lol

just cuz you think it SHOULD be doesnt mean shit i think that kevin maas cards SHOULD be $100000000000000000 doesnt mean anyone else does or that the market says so

The VP from Sotheby's coming out to talk about how these cards should be worth more because of their "importance" to the "community" tells you all you need to know. If you look up definitions for a pump and dump scheme on Google, this is why they frequently reference social media and the starting point for a lot if them.

Here is a thought, I could be wrong though,... Could people at Goldin be pumping up the auction sale price to extreme higher amounts and then all of a sudden the "winning bidder doesnt pay" so they give it to 2nd place behind the scenes even though it looks like the winning bid was X amount and higher. Then for tax reasons or some other unknown reason like wanting to sell THEIR (Goldin staff) cards for the same X amount, happen? Does this make sense??

    • @vendora1

yes thats called bid-pumping and totally illegal for auction houses to engage in // the problem is proving it

DAN... Big question here I would love to get your opinion please. So I found at a flea market 682 rare cards in a binder (I bought it). When I say rare, these are cards that individually sell for anywhere between 3-5 dollars, sometimes more like $7 depending on the player. Even a couple 30-40 dollar cards in there. Most I would say are between 3-5 dollars though. However there are a lot of $5 cards here. The cards though are high end. Like for example, I have 122 Fleer Brilliance, 68 Skybox EX Century, 85 MLB Topps Stars where every single card is actually #'d to /9799. There are 43 Donruss Preferred Bronze. Then there are 364 cards that are Skybox Metal Universe! All of these cards are baseball and I would say 75% are stars or HOF'ers. Anyway, again, there are a total of 682 cards in mint condition. What should I ask for on Ebay? I was thinking $1 per card at $682. Or should I ask $500 which would come out to 73 cents a card.
Any help would be appreciated! These are beautiful high end cards in amazing condition.

people buy cards like that in a lot esp if they are trying to make sets of them the $500 price point is more attractive

@@vendora1 Thanks for the help! I was thinking $500 is where I want to be. If someone sold them individually or in groups of 3 they would 3-4x their investment I bet. Would take awhile though lol.

At the end of the day its M-J-W-R-C...which one are you? In this space there is NO MARKET MAKER! Manufacturer create a price and end consumers a.k.a buyers (C ) determine the end price. If some showoff wants to drop bomds over here and bless me with an extra couple G's its A-Ok...reality says otherwise 😂
