I think for freedom tower they should’ve put an observation deck at 1368, topped it out architecturally at 1776, and then added a spire to get the final height to 2001 ft to pay homage to the year it happened. That would’ve been better in my opinion. Still a great building though.

@@iozzyi also actually people do, nearly all of the tibetan residents live on that altitude. The Pakistan part is a pretty small part of the Himalayan range lol
I've personally been to all towers in Shanghai, including the Orient Pearl, the Jinmao Tower, the World Financial Center, and Shanghai Center. Forms a great contrast with the Bund with buildings from the last century!

There are more of us who like to climb the currently tallest building in the world. 😉 I started back when the tallest buildings in the world were the Twin Petronas in KL. Then followed Taiwan's 101 Tower and most recently Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The Saudi Arabian skyscraper probably won't stand until 2030, so, according to this report, I will look next to Kuwait in 2030. 😁 In another video, skyscrapers of 2 and 4 kilometers are planned. Even 10 kilometers, but those are not planned until the year 2500, so we will look at them from above...👻

@@firdausshukri9683 True, an antenna is at least useful, a "spire" is just a meaningless stick to claim a greater height, it's like not just raising your hand and cliaming that the top of your hand is your actual height, but to hold a selfie stick and claiming that because its a selfie, i.e. you, it constitutes your self and thus it is it's height that counts.

The Sears should have been included. It was built 50+ years ago and it still has higher useable areas than some of the first buildings mentioned.

That clock tower for sure is the most impressive. Sure, it's not the tallest, but for a clock tower it's pretty crazy. Plus, it's body is huge.

The height of some these, especially the planned 1km tall ones, seem insane to me. Especially in light of the 911 attack, it just seems crazy to construct these; I would feel very nervous working or living in one of them.

At a point, having a tall building becomes more about bragging rights and nothing to do with saving real estate.
Yes, I think anything over 60 storeys or so (experts used to say 40) becomes less economic, not more, due to the space you end up taking up with elevators and such. These are tall to be tall and put their cities "on the map" which might explain why the current race for the sky is almost wholly Asian-Middle Eastern. New York, London, Sydney etc. have no need to put ourselves on the map that way.

As cool as they are, there are so many logistical problems with sky scrapers I can’t see them surpassing a certain barrier. The water issues they’ve had with The Burj Khalifa is long and well documented due to having to push water up so far up. They’ll need to seriously overpowered pumps to be able to pull off this shit unless they store water at the top of some of these towers, which will end up causing even more potential structural issues..
couldn't agree more....seems like such a waste of money and resources...especially now during covid. In almost all of the building descriptions the narrator mentions that these buildings are mostly "offices"...i bet these buildings are practically desolate now.....such a waste.

I'm a Brit, and travelled all over, and seen lots of sky scrapers from the USA to China. My favourite is the Chrysler building. It's the most beautiful skyscraper. It has class and style. A very close second is the Empire State building. Same reasons.
@@HelpICantThinkOfACleverName you might be interested in this on the 'Freedom Tower' from the B1M construction channel, why its design was such a compromise. It doesn't look impressive when you see it compared with buildings that didn't resort to 100m+ of antenna stuck on top!

The difference between spires and antennae’s are that you can change the height on them and they are completely for telephone and service purposes. Spires are for that and are just a small building on top a building
The Burj Khalifa has a 200 meter spire. That’s taller than most skyscrapers in the world alone.

According to this video, all I need to do is "plan" to make a 5 Kilometer tall building and I'll be at the top of this list. The last couple weren't even under construction... They may never happen, but they are listed, by your account, as the top two "World's Tallest Skyscrapers." As Uncle Joe would say, "C'mon man!"

The 2nd to last skyscraper is under construction, due to sanctions on the construction company and Covid it got halted but now it’s back

For those jealous of kl118 in Malaysia kuala lumpur and saying that is cheating because of its antenna, do research please, is not an antenna, is a spire, in fact, once open, there will be another small observation deck inside the spire and you can climb into it, and it will become world's tallest observation deck.

I don't quite agree about people jealousy, but I strongly agree about the spire. It does have an extra observation deck on the 600 metre of the spire. I know it because I'm Malaysian. It will become the tallest observation deck in the world so, yeah, you're right.

Supertall makes sense in China because of the population density and land price. It is weird that middle eastern countries build supertalls since they have plenty of lands and very few people.

LOL, it really isn't. They are both clock towers. There are thousands of clock towers in the world, but Elizabeth Tower on the Houses of Parliament is the most famous example, so of course you think any other clock tower must be a copy.

I always have this crazy thought since I was little, that If I were in the highest park of the skyscraper, it will collapse.
If we would build skyscrapers in the form of a pyramid, we could easily build up till 3km, and it would be super stable. Just imagine in the winter, you stand on the top of the skyscraper and put your ski's on, and hoppa down you go. I do live in the Netherlands where the population density is one of the highest in the world (517 people on each square km). despite that we don't build such nice and high skyscrapers. And since we don't have mountains in the Netherlands neither, I would love to see such a pyramid skyscraper of 3km in my country. Our first mountain. ;-)

Apart from this, my favorite skyscraper is the Shanghai Bottle Opener❤️❤️, it’s always fascinated me, I was going to go to Shanghai in February but ... you know the story.
I've been to the observation decks in the Bottle Opener & the Shanghai Tower. Although the Tower looks an insane amount higher there's only about 60m difference in the observation decks & the windows of the Bottle Opener's glass was much cleaner!

You may want to re-release this type of video clarifying skyscraper heights with and without their spires, and include usable floors vs total floors. Also, triple-deck elevators are very impractical. You'll likely find the last building you mentioned will have a mix of double-deck, single-deck, ThyssenKrupp TWIN and/or ThyssenKrupp MULTI elevator systems

Every building has several hights... By the highest habitable floor, by roof, observation deck, and spire/antenna (as the highest point of a building). I think it can be called architectural hight because it is two different buildings with antenna and without it, if a building become more beautiful with an antenna it can't be cosidered separately from the antenna. You also can compare skyscrapers by the highest habitable floor I think it is an no less important characteristic. I even still don't understand which one is higher by that rate Burj Khalifa or Shanghai tower, I had found different information.
I'm missing the Twin Towers of New York. I really thought that they would have been replaced by having two Towers at 1776ft without using antennas to get the height.
The tower we have doesn't need an antenna to get its hight.
I am missing Twin Towers as well. The city sky line is not the same and worse without them.

i think the clock tower one is the most impressive and imposing. you can build higher & thinner, but the clock tower seems massive
