Man, Jon Theodore is the perfect drummer for this band.
As much as I loved Dave for this band, I have to agree. Joey was a unique talent, Alfredo was the OG, but Jon just kind of slots into the band in a way that is difficult to describe in words. I play drums myself (he mentions, hoping to lend some legitimacy to a UA-cam comment).
He kills it, an absolute animal. He has his own sound but these songs don't lose anything for it, if anything they're enhanced by it. After I saw them live this year I realized they're at the top of their game right now and that's wild to me.
Mat we just saw them in Hobart tonight with a thousand people. Was insane
To me, this is the perfect QOTSA lineup. Josh, Mikey, Troy, Dean and Jon.
agree but wish he had a chance to play more dynamics like he did in Mars Volta.
I'm 61 years old and have passionately followed QOTSA since 1998. I've seen many of their shows through the years and not once have I been disappointed. In an era of conformism and blandness, they play on their own playground, and with their own rules. Their approach to music and their supreme musicianship result in truly unique songs and sounds that expand my mind, fantasy, and emotions like no other band. And they have never been tighter live than they are now! I'm f**king gobsmacked by this show! Thank you, Josh, Troy, Michael, Dean, and Jon!
You don't have to start every comment with how old are you. You're not 4. Claiming that an old fart couldn't like something younger people like is an argument nobody raised.
@@moistwo: Well, I start any comment of mine with whatever I like. Not really your business. Period. Regards/ The Old Fart

Next month. Atlanta. Fox Theatre. I’ll genuinely enjoy getting worn out.

Song for the Dead is will always be the best show ended ever. Makes me want to run thru a brick wall.
I know, been there done that. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who wanted to go mad!
so unfortunate Arctic Monkeys played after this. dont get me wrong they’re good live but we went from THIS to Alex Turner closing the festival by singing in slowmotion for 100 minutes
They need to play regular John live more often. Song is amazing
Literally the best and only way to describe experiencing that song live 👍
These guys are proof that real Rock is not dead
yea
check out deepshade too, x

Rock never died. We just don’t get as big as Queens. I’ve been touring, making records and doing it for 25 years. Listen to more bands and turn off the radio. Search, we’re out there.
@@chadwickwright2833which band are you touring with?
Jon Theodore on drums is giving 100+ years of life to the band
flawless playing every time.
Jon is a fucking weapon on the kit
Jon Theodore is the greatest drummer alive. This kind of punctuality, power and ability to create a flow is what no one else can do.
I wonder if they booted him from Mars Volta because they jealous from people telling them how good he was.

Top man 👏
❤
Josh just seems grateful. Grateful to have made it through tough times. Appreciative.
love where dean takes over from troy at the beginning of if i had a tail as he tries to fix his whammy pedal. then when dean gets his timing thrown off by the crowd clapping, jon starts giving a metronome with his hi hat and mikey tries to get the crowd to clap in time by clapping himself. then troy comes back in with what sounds to be a regular octaver as he can't get his whammy working again. shows how professional and seamless these guys are.
Holy shit the audio is DVD Quality. This is one of the best examples of 2023 QOTSA I've seen yet.
AND SPIDERMAN WTF
By far the best gig of this tour so far which is saying something cause they have been on fire lately
The audio is so good! Watched the livestream last night, they were on fire! Played the stream on the speakers in my car this morning while driving to work and realized that these live songs sound even better than on their albums! ❤ Can't wait till I see them in November🎉🎉🎉
@@abelpaszkiewicz2686their show the other day is Lyon sounded incredible too, possibly even slightly better. These dudes are on another level rt now, they sound so good
@@abelpaszkiewicz2686saw them both in Cardiff and Werchter, think perhaps Cardiff was tighter, maybe Werchter more fun? What does it matter, we're blessed 😀

Just wish the mix was a bit louder...

It sounds too quiet

Y’all aren’t watching QOTSA concerts on your phones are you?
Amen! One of the best live mixes I've heard, period. Thank you to whoever wanted to do such a fantastic job.
I was there in the front row, right in front of Josh. My first QOTSA concert, and I can say; I never smiled this much ever and never went as wild as on Song For The Dead. Thanks for this upload, now I can relive this over and over again!
First Queens concert is always big. Especially when Song For The Dead kicks off. Shit gets nutty when that ol’ boy leaves the station.
@@sweetcell8767 🎯💯 Was so blessed for my first Queens show to be in a _club,_ The Catalyst, in Santa Cruz, for the re-release of their debut album... it was godly, seeing my favorite band ever, in a small venure like that, in the 3rd or 4th row. 😍🥰🤩
welcome to the club! I've been seeing Qotsa for more then 20 years now. It was 2001 the first time I saw them, my first rock gig at the time, 16 years old. I think I've seen them about 7 or 8 times now and will see them again indoors this fall. Never a dull moment with qotsa
I just saw them here in LA and I couldn't believe how off the chain Songs For The Dead was. It was a great show.
Epic performance. Such energy from the crowd. The band is super tight. Josh is keeping his sh1t together. He's sharp as ever.
Straight Jacket Fitting was historic. Super powerful for a live debut. The response from the crowd. Josh freed all his demons.
Much love.
❤️❤️❤️
Fully agree! I was in the crowd and it was a great show!
Straight jacket was not debuted live here, it was played live in a radio session a few weeks ago.

Hear, hear!
I saw them for the third time in Lisbon last weekend and I felt the same.
This is another gear, man. They've always been great but you can see how in it Josh is. These dudes are soldiers of art and life
Every time you think they hit their apex, they come back to top that up. Can we just acknowledge the best rock band of the last 25 years?
far from it
@@wathc7722would you please share a band YOU think is better in this context?
If not the best band of the last 25 yrs,at the very least they're in the top 5 perhaps top 3:)for the record imo Radiohead would be #1, followed by Nirvana/Sound Garden/Alice in Chains

Saw them in Portugal a few days ago. Their concert somehow changed me. What a diabolical and loving gentleman Josh Homme is. I'm in love with him for life.
I was there as well! It was so amazing

For me Muse is still no1 rockband also live... but Q's is close 😉

Try to get along to one of their shows when they’re touring in your part of the world. A festival is one thing but to see them play a full set is something else.

Troy and Mikey are both extremely underrated.
Are they? All members of this band are badass musicians / artist damn haha

The bassist is the strongest they've had!! Great job
I'm surprised how close Jon Theodore sticks to the recorded drum parts. That guy is a beast.
Thank God this band is still going! The only true, legit rock band going hard this decade. Thanks to you guys for keeping hope alive

Straight Jacket Fitting was meant to be played live. SO GOOOD
1:24:10 Literal chills when he started singing this part. Felt like he put his whole heart into singing it.
They've got potential.
This band is so damn stacked. It's like an All-Star game. This is a supergroup and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
I rarely sit at home and watch entire concert sets. I love QOTSA and they've certainly outdone themselves this time. I'm blown away.
This years werchter was my very first festival and to have these legends perform on the last day was briliant. I will never in my life forget this show!
I love it that they / Josh still plays a song like the way you used to do, while it is about a past love that’s had an enormous impact on his personal life - no pride, neglect, hate or ego in there. The love was real and probably still is…
Yep... he's said recently that you can still love someone after they're gone, either passed on or just no longer part of your life.
Add to that, he still refuses to say anything bad about the mother of his children, after everything, so... I'm sure the love is still real.
Most insane concert I've ever witnessed. I've had this on repeat the whole day cause I want to relive it over and over. Godfathers of rock showing us how it's done. So honoured to have been there and even spot myself on the footage. Hands down best concert I've ever been to.
Sick! I'm crazy jealous 😁
it was so good!!! fingers crossed they’ll headline sunday next year. if rhcp can come two years in a row then qotsa should too :)
Now this guy has stage presence. So enjoyable to watch people being in their element.
One of their best recorded concerts. Fantastic banter. Great crowd work by Josh. And look how they used Spiderman! Songs and playing are not bad either!
Like fine wine....
The crowd on Straight Jacket Fitting were so brilliant. Seriously great crowd singing. That is a communal get together at a gig, where the band and audience were as one. Superb
Just saw them last week, still rocking this shit. Josh is so good at getting the crowd to sing that
WOW - you just never want them to leave the stage, what musicians - that moment at the end where Josh pulled up his collar his expression 🖤
The new songs 🔥
I love paper machete that solo is epic
Kudos to the band's sound engineer(s). They sound fantastic. Hope I can catch them live soon.
are you joking? its fkin horrid
@@olivergard572 Explain how
@@CCDaDon15 it wasnt focused on the band, it was focused on Homme, which whilst good, wasnt what you hear in a live performace. Whats the point of watching a live performance if it isnt to hear the whole band? Just listen to the first minute, you can hear when it clicks over.
@@olivergard572 I'm confused. It's a full and balanced stereo mix and you think it sucks because the lead guitarist is treated as the lead guitar in the mix? What headphones are you using? Troy and Dean are clearly audible and are where they should be in the mix.
@@CCDaDon15 You missed my point bro, I dont like that they focussed on the vocals instead of the band as a whole,
Joshua Homme is the most stylish man in the world. Such a smooth vibe singing and dancing dude
This band has always defied the odds and delivered greatness
I was there, in the first rows. I waited all day long to see QOTSA, being so impatient. That 1h30 was absolutely incredible. I was so happy, smiled all along and maybe destroyed the ears of some people around me. Hope to see them asap
I still can't believe they played The Evil Has Landed AND I Sat By The Ocean yesterday night, as previous sets included one or the other. So stoked for it - amongst so many other things about that masterclass of a show!
Sat by the ocean one of my favourites
This was the best moment in my life. I will remember this forever.
I have been in a few QotSA concerts and I have seen a bunch of their concerts both in audio and in video. This is, by far, my favorite one. See Josh in 2023 so sane and this happy, it´s just amazing.
Thank you Rock Werchter atendees and thank you QotSA.
damn some of these songs sound better live than the digital version... this band has amazed me since day one. Hope they grow to be old so we can keep rockin out together.
That's when you know a band is good. I find that with Royal Blood as well, random example I know but I was just thinking the other day that I genuinely think they sound better live than the recorded version.
Wowww. I haven't listened to this band for almost 20 years. Josh went from Hot Daddy to Hot Papa and I am here for it.
Goose bumps during Straight Jacket....Gotta see them live again!
Thanks for the great upload man!!
Just watching a 2000 interview with Qotsa on a tourbus - and its crazy to see Josh (27 then) now 23 years later still rockin out. Legend.
The crowd is wonderful.
They make playing music look so easy. Might be the greatest professionals I've ever seen.
I Sat By the Ocean is a masterpiece. What a song!
might be the best live version of make it wit chu ever...
Thx for this upload ! 💛
Incredible transition of the live crowd mic to the stage mics in the beginning I see you sound engineer 😊
I literally listened to that part 4 or 5 times, so neat!
The guys behind the scenes did a fabulous job... The video was absolutely the best I've ever seen of a live show, PERIOD!! Wish more babes would get the quality of production they had!! Can't imagine watching a great metal band with like quality of production!!!
Song for the dead is the best song to play right at the end. Really picks you up! Makes you feel alive!
My fave song is Tangled up in Plaid.
I'm seeing some really good live shows on here.
QoTSA make music you can really dance to and not just head bang. Josh's hips can tell you that.
Josh Homme is a legend.
My god is the sun is such a tune, cant stop listening to it🤘🏼
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was out yesterday during the stream and was praying that someone would record and upload the whole thing.
I love the no phone recording "fever" ...it's an awesome crowd with the right passionate spirit! (With a Legendary Chu superGroup!)
Paper machete. Yah Troy rippin it up!! That lead was so feral. Queens. So good! Thanks for keeping it fresh and wild!

I’m struck every time by just how _beautiful_ Joshua’s Maton and Motor City guitars are. Holy cow.
Love when its midset, and out of nowhere..the sun is gone and the stage lights are glooming behind the band you came specifically to see.
They are legends!!!!
Greatest band of our time hands down... Nobody has ever came close to their distinct sound

Man I cant believe they are not playing What the Peephole Say. That song was made for concerts with amazing crowds
They're still going thru the album, but if I'm not mistaken, it's the only one they haven't played live yet. Hopefully soon
One of the greatest bands that are even better live. definition of timeless!
This video convinced me that I cannot miss this tour! Thanks!
Personally: one of the best performances I've seen at RW in the past 10 years - I've seen a few.
QOTSA also played much better than at Pinkpop23, where they were good. At RW23 they were GREAT.
