Another pantastic video and fun project. Well done, Dan. You definitely demonstrate not only your skill but also the depth of your talents. Keep up the great work. Hope all is well.
HOWDY Dan, and the up n coming new smith too. Nice pan man. No really Different method for forming/raising than a few of the others I've seen. Good results though. Another great video. Thank you both for sharing! 🙏 Blessed days now and well wishes Crawford out 🔥⚒️🧙🏼♂️
Agree, other methods I've seen seems to dish the center to create the sides and then they flatten out the.middle again, this method eliminated working on the middle completely, not sure how much time or energy it saves, if any, depends on the heating method I would think 🤔
probably not as good as steel from the performance perspective. Stainless isn't so good in conducting the heat. To be completely honest with you, I would have to build and test one myself but my guess is: not as good as steel performance wise but definitely better in cleaning as you could put it into your dishwasher. Cheers Andi
@@andizell2255 I'm more interested in the forging aspect. I actually went to trade school to be a machinist, I'm familiar with the way stainless reacts with heat, and the metallurgy of stainless. I am not, however, even slightly familiar with how it forges!
@@83gt17 oh okay, gotcha. I've experienced during a bit of stainless forging that stainless is harder to forge and you really have to watch your temperature. Too hot and you'll burn some of the alloys, too cold and the stainless might dent your tools. Also keep in mind that coal isn't suited for stainless due to many impurities, coke, charcoal or gas is easier on the material. After forging You've got to clean it thoroughly and put it into the cleaning acid. After that, done. Maybe remove the temper colours from time to time if they appear during cooking.
I love the ideal of the Pan I have been wanting to make a sink I have a stump but I'm not sure if it would be good to use please tell me It is a pecan tree stump

Hey 👋 buddy loved the vid man. Could you do a detailed vid about your coal forge
But, what do you all have to forge pan right now?
I wonder how this would go doing it in stainless

Hey Dan. Awesome vid! What thickness of steel did you use to make the pan?
Thanks you it was great fun to make. It was a 3mm mild steel disc about 500mm in diameter.

Trick work with good people make a friend share a meal 🥘
That looks an easier way of making a pan. Going to give it a try
How to purchase from USA?
Think I will go and get some belly pork
Noice 😃
PS I could use a good hammer
avant de faire cuire quelque chose , il faut culotter la poêle
All that work to make a $15 dollar pan.
Fucking sad out look on life dude. Xx
