@7:18 I could not figure out why I couldn't select the welcome text. I thought I would mention that when you are selecting vectors with this method, you must wrap the rectangle around the entire vector that you wish to grab in order to select it, it's not like other programs where you could partially select the objects. There is another method of selecting from the right hand side and that anything the rectangle touches will be selected using this method.
Hey Thanks for that! Yes you are correct... if you create your bound box form the bottom right to the upper left, any content the box touches will be selected. I did not cover that in this video, seeing as it is for beginners, too many options could be confusing. For the more seasoned user you will have had exposer to more options... :)
I'm attempting to follow along and have V12 Pro (full version). I clicked on the 3D view, in the upper right corner of the Vcarve window there is an icon that allows me to see different views. When I click on some of the options (Back, Left, Back, Right, possibly more) I don't see the project. IMHO I should be able to see something in all of the views.
Hello John... thanks for all of the questions. You should see a modeling/zero plan... in the least. If you have not imported in/drawn any 2D vectors, imported in any 3D content, or previewed any tooling that is all you should see. If that is not the case please feel free to email support@vectric.com for individual software support. Thanks... I hope this helps.
On my PC when I first clicked on the rectangle tool, I drew the rectangle I could see the box on the right side of the rectangle and the size but some text in a pop-out from the question mark covered the box on the bottom of my screen. I clicked on something in an attempt to remove the text pop-out, the view changed, I no longer see the boxes with the lengths and cannot determine how to get back to show the side lengths. Now I'm really confused and upset!!!! So far as a VERY new user I'm not impressed with VCarve.
So sorry John to hear this. I would suggest you email support@vectric.com and they can give you some individual support for any issues you might be having. They will be able to give you a hand and help iron out anything that may be happening, that is unexpected. Also your input as a new user is very valuable to us, so going through Support will help us get better seeing as they will record all of your concerns and we can review them.
A couple of question. I tried using the trial version of the simple 2D. I have a desktop Genmitsu 4040 Reno. When I finished my design you transfered the design onto stick and used an off line controller. How did you transfer it? I have desktop CNC and need to plug in direct from the computer to the machine. When I tried it and nothing happened. No control pad or anything. How do get the controls to work?
Hello Scott... thanks for the question. First seeing as you have the trial version, you will need to make sure you use the trial file that comes with the demo. Once you have that loaded into your Vectric software, please review the tooling and then save off the toolpaths using using the proper post processor for your CNC. I think you would have received "Candle" or be using "Universal G-Code Sender" to get the gcode to your CNC from your PC or laptop. Plug in your CNC to your computer then open up Candle... or the other, and load in your g-code. That should do the trick. if not, please send an email you support@Vectric.com and they can help you out.
In my VCarve window I see more icons than what I see in the video. When I follow along with the presenter. Why is this? Sorry, but this is confusing the heck out of me.
Hello John... we would have recorded the video using Cut2D... seeing as that has all the features you need to create this project. The extra icons will not be needed.
When you put the Z in for the profile cut and said something about putting zed into the box and press something on your keyboard I could not understand what you said there. If i put Z in the box it seems to show 8 passes instead of 1 but it doesn't show me the number like yours did.
Hello... yes if you put "z" in the field and press "=" it will replace the "z" with your material thickness. The number of passes will depend on the "stepdown" of the tool you choose to use. Hope that helps.
thanks for the video.. very useful info! Side question: I like your Job Setup layout on the left. How do I make my modeling resolution section hidden like yours? I never ever ever ever use that and IMO this is something Vectric should have hidden by default instead of hiding the very much used additional file operations.
Hello Todd... I did not use any magic... :) I'm assuming you are thinking the "Job Dimentions"? I'm not sure I did anyting... I did take a look through the video and they always seem to be there where I expect them... so I might be missunderstanding. You may already know this but you and unhide the file operations if you like... that option is in the "Options" just look for... "Show Addition File Operations".
There are a couple of books out there that use our software in their examples. www.amazon.co.uk/Make-Practical-Techniques-CNC-routed-Furniture/dp/1457187426
Does anyone know if the 'trial version' is a little different from the bought version (Version 12) ? I want to buy Vcarve... (currently use Carbide Create) and want to make sure I can navigate Vcarve's software. But I'm having trouble doing so with the trial version. I don't see an 'undo' button. If I choose a pocket tool path by accident, I dont see a way to get out of that to choose a different one. I can't even figure out how to choose a different bit when I want to create a tool path. It's stuck on 1/4" end mill. And what I'm seeing in this video is different than what I'm seeing in the trial version.
Hello Brent... The trial version should mirror the release version. If yours is not I would suggest you contact support@vectric.com and they can get you all sorted out.
Danke dafür. Die Umrechnung von Zoll in mm ist in der Software einfach. Wir versuchen, hin und her zu springen, damit wir alle glücklich machen ... es ist eine schwierige Grenze, auf der man das Gleichgewicht halten kann ... :) -------------------- English ------------------------- Thanks for that. It is easy to convert inches to mm in the software. We do try to bounce back and forth so we keep everyone happy... it is a hard line to balance on... :)
👎👎Thumbs down for the software. Seriously, I'm a week into the trial period and have discovered designs/projects can't be exported and my own design cannot be saved in the trial version. If I can't test ALL the functions during a trial, the test is a fail. Crap like that really pisses me off. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Hey Mike... thanks for leaving the comment, we apricate the honest feedback. As we are sure you have discovered the trial version is a full version of our software (you are able to try all of its features) without a expiry, the only thing you can't do is save off tooling for your own custom projects. We take a lot of pride in the quality of our 3D tooling previews so you can be reassured that if you could save off your custom project tooling you would get what you see (as long as your CNC is set up properly, the proper tool is in the spindle and you have taken into account the material you are cutting). In saying that we offer projects like this one that are "trial friendly", so you can open them in your trial version of the software, adjust the tooling to be safe and appropriate for your CNC, the tools on hand and the material you plan to cut and than cut them. This should help to make sure that the post-processor that has been chosen works fine with your CNC and it's controller. In the end most potential customers think this is very fair, and actually better then most software out there today have to offer. I hope this helps you to better understand why we offer what we do, but 100% know that it might not be tight for everyone.
@@vectric Ysing a file YOU created is nothing like using one I create. If I can't try ALL the function in a trial, it's a cheat. But go ahead and believe what you want, but also believe I'll NOT be buying. I've already found a cad/cam that is more extensive than anything Vectric offers for less.
Having to warch over and over. I remember why i hated school so much 😂. ADHD SUCKS

I wanted to see the "how to use the interface" but so far I cannot find it. Why not include the URL in the UA-cam description area?

Hello, when I view the 3D Model it shows a transparent view, not a wood solid view. Just wondering if there is something I can do? Thanks
Hello... you will need to 3D preview your toolpaths in order to see the actual material.
I'm curious why you set up the nail holes as part of the pocket cut instead of setting them up to cut all the way through.
Hello and thanks for the question. That was just to show a process... I left it to you all to decide how to hang it. :)
Awesome Video for sure,,,, great refresher for some things a person may have forgotten

hi I just did not see any G codes to be generated, for the cutting of the profile...
