I have always been solo in the game I cover, it took me 2 years to beat the algorythm, once I got into it after constantly getting 500-2k views per video, I started getting 50-150k views per video, push forward about 15 months, I'm now back OUT of the algo and down to 5-10k views per video, it's like the algo just doesn't want me anymore lol. The real truth is, my regular viewers stopped watching, and because of that, your channel dies. So just a heads up for those who do get into it, at any time your viewers lose interest, your channel can drop massivly.

for me I found it quite demotivating once one of my very random and low effort videos went extremely viral compared to any of my other content, yet any content I did after which I put more effort into and was generally more enjoyable to watch in my opinion, they did nowhere near as good, and over some time my views just kept dropping, and since then I had multiple ups and downs. right now I'm dealing with other things in my life so youtube is currently not a focus but I do want to get back to it as soon as possible and make better content

    • @breezyleogaming

I’m in your same boat, my videos randomly get selected like it’s the hunger games, while starting out small I for that very reason as a gaming channel, I have the rule that I’ll never spend over 5 hours editing a single piece of content, instead I plan a short that promotes it, then the main video and I’ll repeat as a new fresh interesting idea pops in my head for the next. The randomness of videos getting promoted by UA-cam is way too much of a unknown variable to small channels. Try your hardest, don’t spam out super low effort videos. Provide a general service to the viewer for 90% of your videos. (The reason to watch in first 30 seconds) I am very new with editing videos and very much want to throw the kitchen sink at a video, and edit it for days but I’ve yet to really find the right idea to do so.

In other words ..its LUCK / UA-cam lottery. Of course you need to bring something interesting to the table , so you have actually any chance, you need to have big endurance and persistence. Many people have that and still go nowhere ..still the luck is a big part of a success on YT. Just like in my case ..I have one short with over 100 mil views and it came out from no where , I didn't expect it at all. Im super grateful to my subscribers for opportunity to get much better in the future. I hope that eventually every hard worker will achieve their goal on YT one day but I think without some luck it is not possible. The competition is so high , its not easy as many think. Have a great day guys 💗

I have considered stop motion. I might try it on a video or two just to see how it does but I haven’t really ever devoted myself to turning all the videos into start motion. As for the voice recordings, I just find it easier to do the voice although some of the videos. Yes whenever I move the camera, it does make a lot of noise. So I might have to consider that too

I recently had a “viral” channel moment, my video got around 85k views and I recently hit 1k subs. The one thing I fear most as a Gaming Channel is Boxing my self into one select niche game, and never coming out passed it. I’ve been contemplating opening up a second channel for more discussion based content. Talking about current events, and just mostly anything that is a great conversation we talk about. I’ve remained a pretty well oiled machine up to this point and my video editing is getting better and better I know time is a virtue. 1k subs in 6 months, half of those subs came from a single video.

As a tiny wee channel myself, "going viral" will never happen in my niche. And that's okay for me, I know that and am fine with it. Since I started posting my paddle adventures on UA-cam 1 year ago, I try to post once every 2 weeks. It takes 1 or 2 days making the paddling trip and shooting footage, at least 3 days to edit and make sure the video is what I think is good enough am I'm happy with that. I'm growing very slowly, but most important: I make people who are looking for this content happy and can inspire them with my content. That's what matters most; inspire people in your specific niche and grow. Cheers Eckie

I've been on UA-cam for 3 years. I got advice from a bigger UA-camr that told me to double down on good videos. What I do is make a list of my 10 best videos (videos that have over 10k views for my channel). Those are the videos that people resonated with. Then I try to come up with ideas on how to come at those videos from a different perspective; then I create a new video based upon those top videos. I'll even use the same title sometimes. I have a video with over 700k views. I created a second video with the same title, and that one has over 80k views. It is less views, but more than the 10k (even more than the subs on my channel). To me, this is a win. Any time you have more views than you have subs... that's what I consider a viral video for my channel. Keeping realistic expectations and goals is the best way to keep from burning out. Making videos based upon what your viewers like, is the best way to grow. I hope this helps someone.

So what is the secret ?
    Story telling.
That’s why so many shorts are so successful. A story with lots of highlights to keep viewers engaged.
For us new UA-camrs, story Stellite is hard because we already struggle with being in front of the camera, behind the camera, in the editing room, never mind lighting and audio, plus just presenting a basic idea, let alone make it exciting.
I have over 60 videos and I’m still learning basic editing functions. Learning the art of cutting to the essentials to get video length down (oh, how much I struggle with that one. Please forgive my 5000 hour long videos…).
But story telling is one of the keys. Just yesterday I recorded a video, that is pure story. Not sure if that will ever make it on my channel. It’s …. Different. And it’s 200% outside of my comfort zone.
One advantage the kids have is time. They just have more of it. I often struggle to find the time to make a video. Shooting might be a day or two. Editing can easily be another day…or two. And because I life a mobile lifestyle (Van Life), I need to find fast WiFi for uploads as well. Story telling often suffers.
Sometimes I wish I was monetized already (I’m 12% there, lol). Not because I want to make money, but it would free up my time to focus more on making better videos.
Well keep on going, because that is what we do. Peace out homies.

    Love this. Inspirational.
However.... most of this worked in 2019-2020 but not anymore today.
The youtube algorithm is now a nightmare to small creators, the discovery algorithm is awful and unfair (like I mentioned in the last Vidiq live). It's for instance unfair towards minors in non-faceless videos. These videos just get near shadow banned. Vidiq (and youtube)keeps denying this, but it's facts. Any video featuring minors will not get shown in people's feeds much.
Good quality content will not make you grow today on youtube. Good storytelling will not make you grow. Good thumbnails will not make you grow, good AVD will not make you grow, good clickrate will not make you grow....
It's nowadays mostly luck and reposting successful faceless content most people hate but will click. UA-cam is destroying itself today.... can only hope they'll improve soon. But if not: quality channels won't grow. Garbage channels reposting trending content will go viral.

All big creator channels ignore these simple facts... but now that for instance Mr.beast and other big creators start speaking about it as well things seem to be changing a little... older, big channels start to realise that what they did when starting youtube no longer works today.

It's a good video and happy the guy reached his goal . But in typical vidiq form this information was nothing new. The only thing that the video provided was the inspiration from a small channel finding its feet.

Quick question : If the videos I uploaded gains like 2-3 views a day. Is it a good sign or should I take it down and reupload it?
Also, do you think its a good idea to have two content niche on a channel? Like Animation and Gaming content?

Unfortunatelly, doesnt matter much if your content is amazing if no one finds it. it still need someone already stablished to react to it.
It removes hope, but it happens all the time

All UA-cam does is saying, hey, you can't watch old gummy bear videos, you can watch new gummy bear videos and new content, and it's pissing me off because it's totally not true, what's wrong with watching something that is memories or old? Because it's for little kids? Dude! Everyone, even an 80 year old man can watch videos for little kids, people will watch what they want, not what some person wants!

I really needed a video like this, I have been struggling for a while now wondering if I will ever find success on UA-cam, if my passion and hard work mean something, if they will lead somewhere. I had a pretty good run several months ago but now views, subscribers and monetization are all at an all-time low, in fact everything is, I am just not performing at the level I used to. I even made a second channel believing that maybe if I started from scratch, in another niche, using all the skills, knowledge and experience I have attained, I could finally make it, but 6 months later my second channel is doing worse than my main one did in the same time frame. I honestly feel lost, like nothing I do works, my drive and desire to make videos has gone down and I have even considered quitting, or at least closing down channel 2 to focus solely on 1. I'm still hanging in there though, this video really inspired me to keep at it and it even taught me a few valuable things that I should apply such as not worrying so much about posting content weekly. I guess I just have to hold on to hope and keep doing what I love believing that one day it will all be worth it. I hope that other people that feel the same way or are going through the same thing also get strength from this video. Thanks for sharing this story👍
