The spray on ceramic coating is absolutely terrible it stains the windows and makes them blotchy in the rain. Did nothing for the chips and I need to scrub even more than wax. I bought a high end liquid graphein rating of 20. Besides some chips from road debris from paving the paint is perfect and needs no correction. How you’d you personally go about removing the old coating before new application or would you over it. I used 100 percent alcohol to clean the windows back to bare. Given I couldn’t see well in the rain. I also have wax stripper and cleaner for when I polish. Any suggestions would be great
The uncoated side looked “nicer” because the water helps fill in the very little scratches and defects of the paint, making it look extremely smooth. Now if this were done on a windshield, clarity becomes an issue. If not ceramic coated, the water will cling onto the windshield, causing an extremely blurry view. If it was ceramic coated, the water becomes droplets, allowing for much better visibility through the windshield. Also helps with wiper blade longevity since you won’t need them cycling as much as before.
Once you do drive the car. Say it rained the water and anything else that landed on the car will come off easier, hence thats why when a car is ceramic coated its easier to wash and keep maintained over all
Most people dont understand that the coated side will get better as soon as u start driving your car since all the water drops will fall down off the car and the uncoated side will look stained and dirty

Ivan I heard with ceramic coatings you have to go edge to edge without lifting applicator. If you lift applicator with coating in the middle of the panel you will get a high spot?
Many things can cause high spots. I prefer to apply in a circular motion , this dramatically reduces high spots. With the DIY Detail Ceramic Coating if you get a high spot when applying, they will easily be taken care of when you use your leveling towel.
its like waxing your car but eith extra care. all the high spots are you know.. high from the surface and will be taken care of by your towel. i suggest you paid profesionals to do it if you have the money and it is not your beater car because it is faster and better.
@santydagr8 the main thing ceramic coating does it make it easier to clean and maintain your car during washes and such. Another thing to keep in mind is that these true ceramic coatings(the ones in the tiny bottle that are pricy) also last a long time(3-5 years for some) and tend to be tougher than your clear coat sometimes. Plus if you put a ceramic coating on your windows it will help for better clarity during rainy weather by making it so the water would bead up and glide right off. This in turn will also make it so your wiper blades won't have to be used as often. Sorry about posting the wall of text just got carried away.
yeah why is our ceramic sealant having this same effect .. it cost 20$ not 2000$ 😆 true coatings are luxury not a necessity in terms of protection.. its to much effort and cost and time vs these new spray coatings that give 4 to 6 months protection. basically obsoleted real ceramics because you can apply in a couple min. not 2 days of prep and another to cure.
Thank you. Our ceramic coatings don’t require 2 days to prep, and cure in an hour. While DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss is excellent, it doesn’t provide the same chemical resistance and protection as a true ceramic coating does.
@diydetailofficial there are many spray sealants that do provide incredible chemical resistance. not as good as true coating but closer. and to most is not worth the money or time and prep to do a true coating. especially if you're maintaining your car regularly any good spray wax or sealant is by far fastest way to protect. so that is the way to go
On the uncoated side the water is sitting on the surface, on the coated side you see beads of water on the surface. Once dried, the left side looks much better.
Yup and all of those water drops will leave water drop in to the finish if you don’t dry it off but the unfinished part of the hood will dry off with no water drops drying in to the finish.
Dude... What youre seeing is the coating working and not allowing the water with contaminants embed into/onto your paint. Brake dust legitimately comes off my rims with just a hose because of my professionally installed ceramic coating
ceramic coating your car is definitely worth it imo if you’re a car guy and plan to keep your car as clean as possible and maintain it very well. just don’t go to this guy lol
The uncoated section thé water is pooling on the surface, the coated side the majority of the water is gone, leaving a few beads of water on the surface.
I can see the difference in shine which is a perk of a ceramic coating. But it sheets the soap nicely, and that sheeting of the water is very fast whereas the driver's side pools. For me its a no brainer the coating is the best way to go! And worst case after 1 hour you're safe which is no time at all

I'm sorry help me understand. I thought the uncoated side looked nicer.
Honestly curious.
The problem with waxing, coating it leaves water droplets which SUCKS because if you dont wipe properly, it leaves water marks
In real like there’s a good difference, the camera doesn’t always pick it up.

To be honest, the uncoated side looks shiner after the wash
It’s covered in standing water, the coated side is almost dry.
For anyone without eyes. The uncoated side looked better because there was standing water so it looks shiny, left side nearly dry.

To be fair. The uncoated side looks deeper and shinier
Because it’s covered in water, the coated side isn’t holding onto the water.

A ceramic lasts longer, and more importantly provides significantly more protection.
Just because the uncoated side catches a better reflection does not mean it looks better
It looks better in the video because the uncoated side is flooded with water, the coated side is beading.
From an auto detailers perspective this video does no justice. It's tough to video record the actual difference. Maybe extra lightning ?

Why is it that the uncoated looks better than the coated
The uncoated the water is sitting on the surface, on the coated side the water is beading. Once dry the coated side is dramatically better.

On the uncoated side the water is sitting on the surface, on the coated side you see beads of water on the surface. Once dried, the left side looks much better.
