You can't hear the bird calls if you have loud and unnecessary music... Reduce the music volume. Unless you didn't add the calls to begin with. Nice for what it is, but unprofessional and somewhat misleading. Keep trying 😎👍🏻
A pair of these raised their young near my house in east Tennessee. The young have been hanging around calling for the parents to feed them. Beautuful raptors.
Gracie, thanks for the video. We have a Red Shouldered Hawk next in our backyard. They have two healthy chicks. Looks like they are getting close to leaving the nest, they are pretty big. They are protective, they have bussed my wife and I several times when we've been in the backyard. Thanks again.
Thank you so much Jim for watching! That’s awesome!! Hahaha! It sounds like both mom and dad are very protective! 😜 You are truly blessed to have these beautiful creatures so close!
That’s awesome!! Aweee!! Thank y’all so much for watching this channel! It’s certainly not the best one but I try! Lol! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!!
I have recently noticed a pair of Red s in and around my house. They stay within our acre of land. I have been keeping lots of water out and around for birds and they have been drinking from the bowels by the shop. Love them, they are neat to watch. The Blue Jay's and mocking birds don't like them to much. Used to have tons of squirrels but now only 2.
Wow!! That is incredible Whispers from the dirt!! They are incredible birds!! I have never thought about them drinking water out of the bowls but what an incredible idea especially on these hot Summer days!! Yes! I would say that would definitely be a good way to get rid of the squirrels!! Lol! They probably ran for the hills!! 😂
There is a pair curently here in Port Orange, FL that are building a nest in a tree and the spot is only about 20 ft. off the ground. I get a good look at them decorating their nest.
We have a red TAILED hawk around our house but we saw a red shouldered hawk down the street. He flew in front of us then landed on a fence about six feet away and we sat and watched until it flew away. A beautiful bird. I understand they’re kind of rare here in Oklahoma so I feel privileged to have seen it. The red tailed hawks are everywhere.
That’s awesome Bud!! Both species are such incredible hawks!! I didn’t realize that Red-Shouldered Hawks was rare in Oklahoma! That’s so neat! I would feel blessed as well! They are amazing birds!! We see more Red-Tailed Hawks here than we do Red-Shouldered Hawks but most of the time the Red-Shouldered Hawks are more easier to photograph versus the Red-Tailed Hawks! Lol!! The Red-Tailed Hawks like to soar “waaaayyyy” up in the sky! 😜😂 Thanks Bud!! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!!
@Philosophical Opossum The rarity of the Red Shouldered in our area (Jenks) was something I read in a raptor book so I took it at face value. I see Hawks every day so I’m sure I’m seeing all the varieties but not keying in on witch one it is. I’ll try to pay closer attention. We have a Red Tail that keeps a close eye on my bird feeder and I’m pretty sure that’s what happened to all the Morning and Collared doves we had in the spring. We have a lot fewer squirrels too.
Searched for videos about Red Shouldered Hawks Bc I have a pair that nest on our land, year round. Strangely though, it seems that a juvenile RSH is staying here too. He’s been here all winter. Not sure if it’s one of theirs or not? But the three appear to be tolerating each other. We have so many raptors on our property that I worry about them having enough to eat. It’s approx 200 acres. BUT, there are a pair of RSH’s, a Great Horned Owl & mate, a pair of Barred Owls, a Coopers Hawk, a Red Fox & mate, not to mention a large crow family, a large family of deer, hundreds of songbirds, squirrels, raccoons, possums etc. And these are only the ones I’m aware of! I feed all the birds & crows. My aunt next door feeds the raccoons & possums (can’t fathom why) & I provide water w/heating element so it doesn’t freeze, in the woods for various wildlife. I’ve watched squirrels, raccoons & even deer drink the water. I would help the RSH’s w/food, if I knew what to provide & most importantly, if it’s beneficial & not harmful.
Oh my goodness Mary!! That is awesome!! Y’all have tons of wildlife!! I love the water heating idea! That is genius!! Red-Shouldered Hawks eat mostly small animals including rodents, reptiles and amphibians!! I bet they’ve got alot of fields and woods to hunt in on your property! As far as other foods that you could help them with I’m stumped as well because they don’t really eat herbivorous snacks like other birds do! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!!
I have the most beautiful Red Shouldered Hawk staying in my backyard and field. He must be every bit of 24" tall. Just Goergous with his orange breast. Greetings from the Northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia!
