- This beautiful tiny home, nestled into the forest of the British Columbian Gulf Islands begs for time to slow down and for life to be simple. It’s warm timber construction and earthen walls connect the home to nature and all the things truly important in life.

I’m glad Bryce and Rasa don’t have an HGTV show. It feels more genuine and authentic coming from their own channel. Straight from the heart!
That covered deck is tremendous. It literally doubles the size of the house and would be where I spend most of my time.
Same here! Love the option of a covered/sheltered outdoor space that doesn’t block out the sun! Great idea! Wonder if it Lexan sheets used...
In that area they get an amazing amount of rain. I hope the roof on the porch does not leak.
I am from South Africa and I am a student. I have been watching your videos for over 2months. I am really inspired by your show. It has made me want to build my own tiny house as a millenial. I hope I will be the first person you guys come to here in SA.😊❤thank you Bryce

So many are unaware of how (our bodies, our inner being) naturally craves and thrives in a Nature surroundings. When we go away for a week holiday camping or even a beach. And come back feeling so refreshed and energized. Do you think that's a coincidence? No. It's our bodies and minds saying. Thank you! I needed that! Let's do it more often! lol😊👍
the quiet one! Sometimes! Agree. I go walking a lot at the county park here where I live. They have a koi pond tons of flowers and countless trees. I started an evening job in January and don’t get to go walk every day. When I do have time on the weekend it’s a different me. Unfortunately now the park is flooded. I live in Nebraska and we have had too much rain this year. It’s sad to see it. A dozen or so trees blew over during the last big storm. I hope to work here 21 months and move to Oregon where they have the ocean and national forests and such!
@@macdaddy5796 that sounds very relaxing and so connected to Nature. Sorry to hear of the flooding. But that too is Nature. Right? But getting out to Oregon sounds fantastic. A beautiful State lots of Nature there. Hope it works out for you. Good luck!👍
the quiet one! Sometimes! You are correct rain is nature. Just wish. Could shut it off.thank you!
@@macdaddy5796 yeah I guess nature can go a little overboard sometimes.

Hey team! I really hope you enjoy this weeks tour! This beautiful tiny home in the forest is a wonderful reminder of the value of slowing down and connecting to nature. Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below! I will be slow responding to comments today (as we have a long drive to our next location). We hope you're having a wonderful week and thanks for watching and supporting our show! Love Bryce & Rasa
Bryce, this is a wonderful build. You should interview Shawn James he has two you tube channels...1) My self reliance 2) Shawn James. He is in Eastern Canada & built a tiny log cabin by hand & has an outdoor kitchen & also a bath house etc. He is a very skilled building individual and his videos are really incredible. I think you would really enjoy spending time with him & seeing what he has created on his own piece of property. Thank you for this video.
Congratulations bryce and rasa, i cud see the subcribers are increasing..great work😊
@@jansmith9922 can u please share that video link? Thanks
I really appreciate that you spent quite some time on site here. To see it sunny and then raining. Day and then night. Rasa's filming techniques are very special and give me an actual feeling for the space. For example: the candelabra scene and the delightful intimacy of the couple dreaming of their next adventure with the map.
I have bad PTSD and don't leave home much. I look forward to seeing what you discover in the Tiny House community. Sincere thanks
This is pretty but living far away from the bigger cities would drive me absolutely stark-raving ... BONKERS!

After watching your videos i become more and more contented with what i have. Thank you
Simplicity has nothing to do with this. You can live simply in any kind of dwelling
@@comment6864 yes it has everything to do with this. I mean you can have cheap and simple home and live happily. No need to buy expensive homes or pay rent when you can enjoy life in this little and beautiful place.

I recognize Rebecca from @paddlingNorth. She did an epic kayak tour along the BC/Alaskan coast. And to now know she has an awesome tiny house. Totally a badass!
I think 90% of the reason why I watch these videos is to check out the awkward reactions and looks couples give to each other every time Brice points out that they don't have a toilet in the house.
SHE built the house. It's all on her. 😁
Karen van Eersel something tells me the ex boyfriend built the house
Uh, honestly, having a toilet so close to where you prep food is never a good idea. I think that an outhouse is ideal even for a modern home.
Agree. Going to the outhouse is just so Little House on the Prairie. Also, they are living in four seasons, as evidenced by the closet space. Open outhouses??? Oh good, get up in the middle of the night, stumble down a ladder + put on your parka to trudge out + figure out which freaking outhouse to use. The pull down your jammies to sit on an icy seat. Yeah, not my cup of tea.
@@jsbhmm8232 You are obviously a man.
This is hands down my favorite tiny house. The clay walls made it so warm and inviting and cozy. The windows everywhere and the rock used for the bathroom floor combine with the wood made it feel like a retreat despite the small size. Just gorgeous and yet simple. The outdoor bathroom is of course the downside, but small trade for the life you gain living here.
Everytime i watch tiny house im inspired and encouraged to live simple 🧡

I love the concept of their tiny house, because of the high ceiling and the windows, it looks much more bigger inside and out.

You mean like almost every human in this Century who lives indoors?
I'm surprised bears haven't figured out how to open that fridge.
Yeah, they need to make space inside for that.
Only the occasional visiting bear on the Gulf Islands! It's paradise...
There's no reason to have the fridge outside. All that temperature fluctuations and humidity from rain, etc will kill it pretty quickly. They're not designed to be outside.
The axe! My first thought. Why give an invader a weapon to break into your home.
@@katereed4764 sounds nice.
I love how this seems to be hidden in the forest.
I’ve gotten to where I know when he’s gonna say, “after you”. Bryce is such an absolute gentleman. He’s so polite!!
Small world. I also have an IKEA Poang chair in light oak finish with a striped Mexican blanket over it, folded and draped the exact same way. And I'm 2,300 miles away. Needless to say, I like their style.
@T Dawg Yeah, the chair is everywhere. It's just covering it with almost the same (non-IKEA) blanket that's a bit unusual. It just struck me as mildly amusing, that's all.
The ladder nook under the bed is very clever. I really like the vibe of this space.
The river stones are absolutely gorgeous! I loved this whole home!
Especially the blue ones in the bathroom!
I always love watching the houses you feature in your vlog. Every house is so unique and livable.
Sweet cozy home, but the land is the key to it all. I wish more questions were asked as to how she came to get this land and what was involved, to educate the viewer interested in tiny home living. The only way a tiny home is feasible is having land to put it on, which continues to be a major roadblock. The need for tiny house living is growing every day because of the overinflated real estate market but the rules and regulations to place tiny homes is not changing with the times. Something needs to give in our current "system" to fulfill the needs of our society before it's too late. Homelessness is becoming an epidemic.
LowsonIntl Well said! The Gulf Islands, like the San Juans on the US side, are prime playgrounds for the one percent, putting the purchase of land there w-a-y out of reach for most people. If people of modest means have found creative ways around the problem, I'd like to hear about them. If not, then it's a service to viewers to be honest about the deep pockets necessary to live tiny in most places.
I was wondering the same about the land. Did she purchase or lease it? How did she find it?
me too! I had hoped they would include this in the budget talk! It was likely the most expensive part...
I wonder exactly this in almost every episode!!
I agree with your point. The land is probably from someone she knows or related to. VC is one of the most expensive places in the world.
Very nice. Clean, simple lines and open spaces with large windows. It’s like a person could just reach out and touch a tree or talk to a passing animal. Such a beautiful house and property. Great job Cass and Rebecca! Happy home. Thank you Bryce and Rasa for another great Tiny House find and video. Well done! Blessings
Would've been cool to have seen the micro house and workshop too :)
i always want them so show the additions!
Tiny home dwellers, they just seem so at peace!😌
Rebecca has done such an incredible job! And Cass is spot on about being able to live with a smaller footprint - it’s definitely a wise choice! Great video Bryce! ❤️
If I had a tiny house one of my must haves would be a regular love seat. The seats with storage look so uncomfortable.
OMG this place is GORGEOUS, from the cool walls, woods, stones, window nook, and layout. It has all given this home a more spacious feel. The little woodburning stove is useful but also adorable looking.
Congratulations young man on learning to sew on a machine. It is always a useful skill.👍🏻
Best of luck in the future years lovely young couple!!

So there’s a magic which is Shed Plan [ visit here *WoodBlueprints. Com* ]. This Shed Plan covers all my instructions from top to bottom in a step by step manner.
I always like a tiny house with a large fold out porch and awning.
Rebecca has packed in a LOT in 22 feet! With all of the windows it is so open and the amount of storage at the rear is amazing. I LOVE her design and her heart to share. Hope he appreciates that part of her.
Such a nice minimal tiny house. I love the porch area and I also love how the house just blends so well with it surroundings. I would prefer to have my toilet inside but would use an outhouse in the summer time. I have used many outhouses in my day. lol Really loved her river rocks and the clay walls, made for a warm feeling and interesting texture. My favorite was that wood/cook stove though! I fell in love with that and the river stone wall, back splash and flooring. Overall though I loved this couple and loved how they are deducing their carbon footprint.
One of the very few tiny homes that the dwellers are real minimalists.
Every time I see that I’m early to a video, I feel how my dog does when I get home from work early.
This is how our ancestors lived. Each generation wants better for the next generation which typically entails bigger homes & more possessions. It's refreshing to see people going back to the basics.
Great idea for composting toilet. My great grandparents had 2 outhouses on their farm in Michigan. And now I know why.👍
Yes, I was interested in understanding the reason for having two outhouses, as I didn't understand how it works. So once the one is filled up, you use the other one. Do you just leave the 1st as is or do you have to process it in some way?
@@mscalucas check out humanure. I would switch out buckets instead of toilets tho.
I would NEVER use human waste as compost in my food garden. The flowers would be well fertilized tho'.

Really nice house but am I the only one wondering how they do for the fridge or the toilets during winter ?
I am guessing the bears are not walking around in winter ...!?
Won't need the fridge in winter...
Back in the day, there were chamber pots.
@@underverse7 I believe bears hibernate in their dens in winter tme.
As one having experience of far north cabin and outhouse living when young I do not miss using it at 30 below when the temporary bits of humidity would create frost inside. Having survived though it's a great memory to look back and laugh over. Our ancestors did not have it easy.

there are many beautiful tiny houses out there, but this one brings you back in time, this one really embodies the romance of how simply and beautifully humans once use to live. I am in love ...
Very nice, energetic and beautiful couple, you rarely see in our so called „civilized“ society. A real treat to be able to watch this.
True enlightenment! I love people who care and take action in such a meaningful way.
I love the outside covered deck, but wonder how they manage to keep the glass so clean in a forest setting. The pebbles are just beautiful, especially in the bathroom. Thanks Bryce and Rasa.
Maybe because British Columbia is kinda wet it washes out the gunk often in the non summer months... Maybe
I like so much the tall fir, deer passing by, the shoe-cupboard, the porch... beautiful....
Will somebody please tell me where is this 'magical' dumpster that has all this perfectly good materials for repurposing?
Go for a drive and see where the local building sites are. It would take me a long time but I could definitely access most of the windows and doors for a project like this from homes within about 20 miles of me that are being renovated. I’ve rarely actually done it but just yesterday I asked a friendly neighbour about the dumpster that’s appeared outside his house. Turns out he was getting rid of an aviary so I’ve repurposed a lot and I’ve got a new woodshed.
There are several in almost every city, "Habitat for humanity", "Restore", "recycle materials", craigslist, etc. google your area.
Also, town dumps have the free pile. Check out facebook garage sale sites - lots of free stuff. The issue is having the time and discipline an place to store the materials.
They do exist! Business dumpsters are especially great places to scavenge. I used to have a little retail store and got most of my very nice display units from dumpsters. Spinning card racks, shelf units, even a nice desk and some computer supplies. It is amazing what people throw away.
It takes time and patience to accumulate the right things, but perfectly good materials get thrown away every day of the year. I've been running a small thrift shop from my NYC apt for seven years, and can't keep all the stuff I can find just in walking distance of here. With a car I could get even more.
I like this house but I would need a more comfortable sofa and /or chairs to curl up in to read. I also would have loved to see what all the out buildings were. They seemed intriguing.
Maybe a "junk" type of dwelling for bikes, camping gear etc. but I would have liked to have seen it. Was the toilet really only 3 sided?
I love how the house was built so it feels huge on the inside with those ceilings!
I don't understand why people dislike?!!
What is their problem don't watch if you you don't like!
Beautiful tiny home, I love how it is laid out, and all of the natural wood and stone. I love the huge covered deck and how it gives more living space outside and brings it all together. So many great elements and how open and big it feels. Thank you Bryce for sharing this couples amazing home.
I feel like once your tiny home finds land a wrap around deck is a must. It makes it feel like a home and really adds to the functional space.
Why didn't you check out the 'micro-house'? I was curious to see that...
I think this is one of my favorites. It totally has the feel of the Pacific Northwest. Definitely coming back to this when I build my own. Hilarious but awesome that the river stones were cause she didn't want to deal with tile!
I'm grateful for my life but I WANT TO BE CANADIAN!!! BC is a dream...
Everything's very expensive so alt living is advisable
This is the first house in a while that I could see myself living in. It’s so spacious, cosy and open. I love it.
This is a tiny house that feels like a warm cozy welcoming home.
Beautiful place to call home, very lucky to be in an area where you are with nature every moment.
Beautiful home. Would rent, if it was on AirBNB.
This type of lifestyle is very relaxing.
You'll need to bring the toilet inside first...
I'm from BC myself and with millions of bears in our province I was really shocked to find out that they keep their fridge outside. It doesn't even have a lock on it - such an easy "opener" for smart bears... But the house is cute! Also, the gulf islands off the coast are just pure paradise!
It is paradise, partly because there are no bears to worry about!
She is beautiful with a beautiful living life
Another great Bryce tiny house tour video on an exceptionally creative project. Always good to see adventurous young people choosing the forest over city life. As modernity skids sideways over a cliff and into a garbage dump, life on Earth will continue in her temperate zone climax forests, as it has for millions of years. An excellent lifestyle choice...
My husband is 6'2 and I'm 5'11. I told him I want to build up our countertops too lol. I totally get it. I love this house.
The best part of tiny homes is their uniqueness & the creativity of the owners to design to their own desires. This is lovely.
If they get some solar power, it would be perfect. But I love the house overall.
my thoughts exactly- i know that area of BC and while it's not the most conducive to solar, they could definitely pull something at least in summer, and probably store enough to get them through a week or 2 here and there
and an indoor toilet. british columbia doesn´t have the type of climate you want to make your way to an outhouse at night in winter, trust me.
If there was some solar power, it would be perfect for you.
This is one of the realistic ones where you have to use affordable materials, refreshing to see
Just curious how the walls held up during transportation. I love that finish and the stone work
Me too. I wanted to hear more of the process how it was created.
I assumed that was done after the move
@@joan-lisa-smith I thought about that too. But it isn't mentioned 🙄
I wondered that too. And weight wise, how heavy the stones and plaster would make the house.

Ole boy: easy transition to move from my van

I am so in love with alternative living as means for people to find more peaceful existence. But as a designer myself I'll definitely have the recording of Bryce's voice and every time a project is finished I'll play "now THIS is absolutely BEAUTIFUL" for moral support. Great video, as always!
As people are saying, the great thing about this home IS that it is a comfortable home. Yes it was presented well for us to admire, but we could see just how comfortable that it is, and how the couple love being there. An established garden and surroundings that show how much time and thought has gone into the whole environment, not just the house. It is also so good to see when people have designed something unique to themselves and not just a copybook design. The use of the stove and propane cooker for instance. Putting the fridge outdoors dates back in rural areas to times past, when the way to keep provisions cool, especially meat, was to make a mesh box and sit it in a running stream. It is great to see a home that has been so well created as this couple have done - many years of enjoyment let's hope !
This tiny house feels homey. It needs an enclosed porch though. A racoon or bear would have no problem opening that, or any size refrigerator.
Since their motors put out a lot of heat, in a small space, it can get oppressive in the summer. I've thought mine belongs on a back porch, which I don't currently have.
In my small ranch house. When my fridge croaked one winter, I kept my food outside in a bin within a bin. You can pour a few inches of water between the two bins. The water freezes overnight, so if kept in a shaded spot, ideally on a closed in back porch, on the north side, it's perfect! I kept things like veggies in the cold back hall, so they wouldn't freeze.
When summer came, I continued to keep food out back, but bought ice & less food. Even after the ice melted, the water remained cool, even in summer, giving me a 3rd day to hold remaining food cooler out back than it would be in my kitchen, since I don't have AC yet.
I live in a northern climate, so it's worked quite well - for a few years now. I am quite limited in the few warm months we have, but have saved a lot on electricity.
I love their kitchen area, storage & loft, & abundance of windows, but I've seen a few news items of bears - usually Black bears, breaking the house door down to enter to get food. Those windows would offer even less resistance. I've seen bears smash car windows like nothing, so all those windows offer little protection if an intruder or bear wanted to get in,but That's true of most homes, RVs, trailers, vans or cars which people also live in, I guess.
I'm considering getting a couple composting toilets, but will keep them indoors. Love the idea of having more bathrooms - without the expensive plumbing costs! Will put one in the back hall, near the door for when I'm working in the yard, & won't have to take my boots off!
I see theirs is kept outside. From all accounts, if you keep the liquids & solids separate, they don't smell! The solids are covered by peat moss & / or other materials, completely, so there's no smell.
I would not let it build up for weeks like some suggest we do. Would dilute the urine with water & use it to water outdoor plants, or just dump it on my compost pile, rsther than having to lug several gallons of it. Liquid weighs 10# per gal!
It adds nitrogen to the soil & a human scent. Ilf poured around the ground surrounding your veggie patch (not in it), it may deter animals heading towards devouring the produce. I'm hoping it works to deter groundhogs, but haven't tried it yet.
The solids get dried by the various types of matter commonly used, & can also be added to a dedicated compost pile. After aging, & blending with other composting materials, that aged compost can be used to put under shrubs, trees, on lawn or in the flower beds to improve tilth & add nutrients. I'd prefer to not use it on edibles, but once aged properly, it could be. They've been doing it in China for ages, I just wouldn't want to.
Imagine the water we'd save, collectively, if we all composted our excretions! Water can be cleaned & reused, as some comunities have been doing for years.
We can all set up gray recycling & filtering systems too, at a minimal cost, and collect rainwater, in most states.
One day it will be necessary to conserve water. We should really start now, & stop acting like we have an endless supply of water. We do not.
I would not enjoy an outhouse though. There'd be spiders to look for...& don't forget to look under the seat too. 😞
Wow! That's awesome!
2nd!
Omg, i cant believe how you guys finds all this beautiful gems 💎🏡
