As old as that home is, you are so lucky that the shutters and original trim is still there as well as functional. I am glad that this home has found you to preserve and restore it.
I think the reason they left all sections of the shutter is so that when the air conditioner was removed at the end of the season, the shutters could still be closed to keep the cold out and the heat inside the room. Nice job restoring those old beauties!
