I’m just gonna say it, I didn’t like Rigby when I was younger. While I’ve grown up, I truly resent him. Not just what he did to Mordecai in the movie, but how how horrible he was to everyone! I mean Damn! Everytime he went low, I didn’t think he’d could go lower, but he always did. Don’t get me wrong Mordecai isn’t perfect either, but compared to Rigby, geez!
I think Rigby was just so used to getting bullied by his friend and coworkers in the early seasons (punched, laughed at, etc) that whenever he was in a position of power, he took full advantage and rubbed it in everyone's face because he knew those moments were rare. I agree that Rigby was a jerk early on but he genuinely got much better in later seasons. He treated Eileen with nothing but kindness and gratitude, and would give Mordecai good relationship advice and other things. And even though he's still Rigby, and likes to rub things in peoples faces and be smug, in the later season he was more self-aware and usually included other people on the joke, and did lighter-hearted pranks.
